I turned laptop on today and the touchpad is just not working. Has this happened to anyone else? I looked for drivers but only found vista ones which I installed but still not working. Thankfully I have a bluetooth mouse but it is not that good and I like to use the touchpad.
Using windows 7 32 bit. I might install the OS again but does this sound like a hardware failure?
The touchpad on my aspire 5517 has stopped working and I can use the cursor only with a mouse.I have windows 7.I tried system restore and used devise manager.

Basically here's how it goes:
Laptop unplugged, full battery or near full, placed on a bed (you can see where this is going), playing emulator games
Later, it suddenly turns off.
Upon trying to turn it back straight away, the laptop turns on, but only a blank screen is present.
I recommended to leave laptop off for 2 odd hours. Tried again after 2 hours, same result.
I got hold of the laptop now, basically it turns on, then suddenly flicks off and then back on again, and does.... nothing. The audio/media pad responds though (i.e. hold and mute button is responsive). I tried to take out the battery and turn it on, nothing.
Then I put the battery back in and turn it on, same result. Screen remains black throughout all scenarios.
I am using dell inspirion n5010 i3. And i am getting problem with its touchpad . Problem is that while using the laptop, touchpad suddenly stops working but right click option continues to work but at the same time usb mouse continues to work and after pressing ctrl+alt+del and doing logout it starts working.

View 10 Replies View RelatedToday i bought the new Acer 8930G with the Touchpad on the left of the keyboard. The touchpad works great, i can stop tracks, skip tracks and mute. But i cant control the loadness of the sound. The touchpad gives a reaction (the LED lights when i touch the sound-regulator), but the software doesnt recognize it. The sound just stays the same!
I deinstalled a lot of software, maybie i got the wrong one and there's a conflict now or something?
If i cant bring that to work, i'd like to be able to make regulate the sound via keyboard (a button to make it bit louder and a button to make it a bit less louder), how can i do that?
I tried to clean the underneath of the touchpad mouse buttons of this Dell Vostro 2520 Notebook. since then both the buttons are not working. I am not being able to use the left right buttons and now using an external mouse.

I have Acer Laptop. Yesterday nite, I use the hotkey FN + F6 to off the monitor only to save power, and it work fine. But suddenly the screen is on again.
Then I tried to Fn + F6 again, and this hotkey is not working anymore.
Other hot keys, like Fn + F5 to lock the mousepad is still working.

Background (in as much detail as possible):
Earlier this week I wanted to use Pokerstars, but I was due an update (I already had it installed). I updated and loaded it up, although it seemed to lag at the log in screen, so I CTR+ALT+DEL and ended it in task manager. I reopened the program and had the same issue, so I task manager'd it again and it still didn't work. So I rebooted. When I rebooted, all of a sudden I had no option of connecting to a wireless network - only ethernet and VPN in the settings.
I have been into device manager and can see that I have a Qualcomm Atheros Driver in my network devices, although it has an amber warning with code 52 (driver unsigned).
I tried going onto Acer website and downloading the latest driver, which comes with a set up package - unfortunately this didn't work. I tried uninstalling the driver and pointing to the driver that I had downloaded manually; but every time it tells me 'You have the best driver set up for this device' and reverts back to the unsigned driver.
I have tried FN + F3 to disable and enable flight mode - no impact.
I read somewhere about updating bios settings - but there are none in the download section when I put my serial number into the Acer website.
I also tried downloading drivers from other external website and downloaded some third party program called 'Driver Assist' as the way the page was set up fooled me into thinking that was the legit download - it didn't work, and I have subsequently uninstalled it
I have only had the laptop just over a month new, and all had been working until then. Extremely unlikely to be any other spyware as the only things I have installed on here are Steam (FM15) and Pokerstars. I don't even really use this for browsing, just those two apps.
Further info - not sure if relevant but I installed the Acer WLAN + Bluetooth setup as a potential fix, and the bluetooth element seems to be functioning fine - not sure if they're on the same integrated card?
Just setting up a new Aspire E5 for my girlfriend and can't see how to change touchpad options (eg sensitivity, scrolling settings etc). On my own acer V3 571G from the basic mouse options I can go into "elan" to change various options but don't seem to have (or can't find) this option on the new E5...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire 5750z computer, a while back my wifi suddenly stopped working, but the ethernet is fine. I've searched the internet and tried to install the required driver (Atheros), but when I try it says that the "drive might have been ejected please reinsert it now" or something along those lines. When I go to the driver manager the wifi driver isn't even listed under network adapters, oonly the ethernet drver was there. I've heard that if your computer has had a virus or if you had dropped it the wifi card might have been damaged and I wanted to know if that's true, and if so can I buy a new wifi card?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with this device since the day I bought it. The second day I owned it a bad pixel jumped onto the screen. After pushing it for some time physically on the surface of the screen it dissapears for another day or two.
But my biggest problem is taht sometimes touchpad simply stops responding to any gestures or mouse cursor keeps shaking on my screen. The only ting I can do is turn off the whole touchpad and wait for it to repair itself.
Also it happens that for no apparent reason my notebook behaves like as if I had been pressing CRTL button all the time, while I dont do it at all. Pressing S key alone makes it run into save options. Left clicking on the page makes it open in a new bookmark.
I have tried all the other tips and driver downloads, removing battery, reloading drivers, sleep "wake up", all with temporary success. Acer says to refresh the computer, that does not work either. It is new with about 20 hours on it. I took the first machine back to retailer and same situation with the new machine.
Clearly this is an issue with Acer notebook touchpads and at least in my case W8.1. That is why google is littered with search titles for acer touch pads not working.
I have purchased an Acer Aspire ES1-111M-C3CP with windows 8. I am generally really pleased with the laptop and quality, except for one thing, the mouse pad stops working. When this happens I have to plug a usb mouse in the move the mouse pointer on the screen. If I restart the laptop then the mouse pad works fine, then randomly it will stop working again.

I am looking at the Acer Aspire 8930G-644G32MN or the ACER Aspire 8930G-584G32BN. The first one is 300 Euro's cheaper than the last one. Besides that big difference I can't seem to find any. Did I miss some specific diffence, like do they both have Surround Sound and a BluRay drive and a full HD screen? Does any of the two support DVB-T? Do they both have a 9600 GT graphics card?
The reason why I ask is because I looked through, I don't know how many internetsites with specs and it's amazing how they all differ, obviously mainly copied and pasted from other internetsites. And I really want to get the right one and not regret my purchase after a while.
I have Dell XPS 15 L502 machine bought 10 months back. I am facing a frustrating issue with touchpad.
Touchpad works ok but suddenly it freezes and stops working event the right - left click buttons. or sometimes a gentle finger on touchpad will randomly open and close the applications. The only solution to this is i restart my machine. This occurs frequently causing me to restart my machine atleast 20 times a day.
I just upgraded from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Vista (it was free). The onboard mouse buttons and touchpad work fine in Vista 64. My problem is that I always use an external mouse. When I'm typing and my palm hits the touchpad my cursor moves. In Vista 32 bit I could set the onboard mouse buttons and trackpad to switch off in the Dell touchpad driver whenever an external mouse is plugged in. There is no 64 bit Vista driver to download from Dell. How do I turn this touchpad off?

When in use the cursor jumps around the screen very erratically.
Ive tried reinstalling the driver and using the synaptics driver as well. Neither work.

Early morning, i get up and go to my laptop for work emails and facebook, START ERROR.
After a shower and breakfast, it starts then TOUCHPAD ERROR.
Bring it to office and get there 9:00 a.m, run TOUCHPAD then good but WIRELESS LAN ERROR.
Before i manage my office works, run WIRELESS LAN then good but goes to BLACK SCREEN ERROR.
After half an hour talks for stuffs, BLACK SCREEN ok then AUTO RESTART ERROR.
Half an hour later, it come back to windows very well but FAN is still sleeping.
Emails, market data pages are running. So I keep to carry on without FAN working. Some minutes later, SHUT DOWN automatically.
Try to restart, cleverly comes to windows back and FAN also works very well but CD comes out without commands.Then to lunch.
After lunch, i resume my works. My laptop is also again to above ERRORS.Then go back to my home at 6:00 p.m.
i have a ACER Travelmate 2482WXMi, i have done a fresh install of windows XP home, i have done a full format of the hard drive, but i have issues the touchpad will not work only in safe mode. I have installed most of the drivers through safe mode, but the mouse will only work when i connect an external mouse when it's in normal mode.
Also i do get some bad sectors on the hard drive, and it takes over 2mins to shut down the comp. I havent installed programs yet, except PC Wizard 2008. Also the laptop is not the base model with 512MB ram i have added a 1gb stick and it works fine. I am thinking maybe its the hard drive. If

View 1 Replies View Relatedabout 2 months ago i bought an Acer 5920G, a week or so ago suddenly the touchpad stopped working, i dont recall how it happened, i think i just booted Windows Vista as i usually do and the touchpad didnt work when i tried to click my user name so i could enter my password to logon.
I thought maybe the driver had gone bad so i rebooted and booted Windows XP( on a different partition) and in windows xp the touchpad also didnt work anymore.
Is this a hardware failure? Or are there other possibilities? I tried removing the driver and reinstalling, but it still didnt work.

View 1 Replies View Related2 days ago I bought a acer notebook. The touchpad is working but not the gestures. If i go to the "mouse settings", there are no specific settings for my touchpad. Just the normal mouse settings like pointer speed. I already downloaded the 2 driver which are on the acer support site: TouchPad_Synaptics_18.1.2.1_W81x64_A and TouchPad_ELANTECH_13.6.1.1_W81x64_A. I have installed boot of them sucesfully (there was the green pick).
Also for ur info there are no warning signes for unknown devices in the device manager.
How to get my Acer Aspire E15 laptop (E5-571P-55TL) touchpad working again? It worked when I began using it in January and now does not, and I have been checking the FAQs and spent hours also looking for and downloading user guide info which did not work (maybe I did not EXTRACT it correctly). I use Google Chrome, not Internet Explorer, by the way, and not the Microsoft Account login stuff, which is messing me up too, as first I had to create a password to login to my laptop,then apparently it wants me to create and use another password and login email, which apparently I did once after some problems with it,and now I cannot get it to let me login OR send me a forgotten password for Microsoft Account. It wants to call me at a number whose last 2 digits displayed are not mine!
