I have purchased an Acer Aspire ES1-111M-C3CP with windows 8. I am generally really pleased with the laptop and quality, except for one thing, the mouse pad stops working. When this happens I have to plug a usb mouse in the move the mouse pointer on the screen. If I restart the laptop then the mouse pad works fine, then randomly it will stop working again.
View 1 RepliesI've been having problems with this device since the day I bought it. The second day I owned it a bad pixel jumped onto the screen. After pushing it for some time physically on the surface of the screen it dissapears for another day or two.
But my biggest problem is taht sometimes touchpad simply stops responding to any gestures or mouse cursor keeps shaking on my screen. The only ting I can do is turn off the whole touchpad and wait for it to repair itself.
Also it happens that for no apparent reason my notebook behaves like as if I had been pressing CRTL button all the time, while I dont do it at all. Pressing S key alone makes it run into save options. Left clicking on the page makes it open in a new bookmark.
I'm considering buying a laptop, but when I look at the specifications for the Aspire ES1-111M-C0FQ at [URL], it appears to have no hard disk or SSD.
How does it run Windows 8.1 in only 2GB of memory with no hard disk? How were tyou able to run it without a disk?
I have had my aspire e1 touch for a couple months now and a couple weeks in it randomly wouldn't detect the touch ability. I have to shut the laptop down and back on again for it to work (simple restart won't work) It's a new computer so I haven't upgraded any os, it's running with the Windows 8.1 it came with and I have chrome as the browser. It seems to happen when I wake it from sleep, not in the middle of using it. When the touch is not working, the device manager doesn't even detect that touch is an option (it's hidden, but grey and cannot be enabled)....

My second question is: I've hooked up a second monitor to my laptop I checked the settings and it works like this, if I move my mouse to the right and keep going, my mouse appears on the second screen. How can I make it so that the start menu and everything goes from the first to the second screen that way I can close my laptop, cause if I close my laptop screen it disables the second screen also/
I have an Acer Aspire V3-572g. My laptop came with windows 8.1 installed already. Currently, my pc is being reset to factory settings because I can not figure out how to keep the hdmi from going out after windows updates. The only way I can keep get the hdmi port to work is the factory reset it. The only way from keeping the hdmi working is by turning off windows updater. However, I'd like to figure out how to keep the hdmi working without doing so. My graphics card is Nvidia 840 M. Here are a list of things I've done after my laptop stops recognizing the hdmi.
Uninstall and reinstall the display drivers, both from intel and Nvidia
Update the drivers to be up to date
Downloaded intel's utility manager to keep driver update to date
Downloaded factory installed drivers from Acer's website
Contacting microsoft and have them remotely connect to my laptop
Restored back my laptop to previous working conditions (although the hdmi never worked by going to a restore point)
Swapped hdmi cords and displays
After several hours of researching and trying different things I'm stumped. I bought this computer with the sole purpose of connecting it to a TV. I've also had this issue with another laptop which I returned. This problem isn't a hardware problem as I'm connected to the same monitor with an old desktop using the same cords. I'm guessing there is a compatability issue with windows and the display drivers when there is an update.
I've created a Factory Default Backup with a USB drive with Acer Recovery Management. I see this message which tells me I can delete the recovery partion to free up disk space after I've created the backup but it never gives me the option to do so.
I DO get the option to remove the Driver Recovery Partition after backing it up to USB but not the 10GB Recovery Partition. It's a a HUGE deal on a system that only has a 32GB hard drive.
I have tried all the other tips and driver downloads, removing battery, reloading drivers, sleep "wake up", all with temporary success. Acer says to refresh the computer, that does not work either. It is new with about 20 hours on it. I took the first machine back to retailer and same situation with the new machine.
Clearly this is an issue with Acer notebook touchpads and at least in my case W8.1. That is why google is littered with search titles for acer touch pads not working.
The touchpad on my aspire 5517 has stopped working and I can use the cursor only with a mouse.I have windows 7.I tried system restore and used devise manager.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHas anyone experienced a problem with Acer notebooks where when the user presses any key on the keyboard, the touchpad gets disabled? The 8940G we are reviewing has this problem and I have never seen this happen before. When the touchpad stops functioning the little Synaptics status thing on the taskbar still shows the sensitivity blob when you finger presses the touchpad. This tells me it is still working but something else is interfering.
I have looked around the Synaptics menu for anything relating to this feature and found nothing. I disabled the "hide cursor when typing" feature in Windows already and that didnt fix it.
A coworker lost her HD, a new one was added and she bought XP Pro now when I try to install it, when it gets to Setup is starting Windows it stops and stays there for ever. I have left it like that for two days and get nowhere.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an aspire 5755-6699 that has been giving me problems. It keeps freezing up and going into windows recovery at startup. Windows recovery stopped at checking and fixing disc errors. So I bought a new hard drive and put it in and tried to restore it with the recovery disks. Everything went fine until the very end with the language disc. The top bar went to 100% complete and the bottom bar stopped at 99% and just stayed there. I tried to restart the computer but it says there is no valid disk drive. Tried running e recovery again and the same thing happened. What should I do?

I looked for drivers but only found vista ones which I installed but still not working. Thankfully I have a bluetooth mouse but it is not that good and I like to use the touchpad.
Using windows 7 32 bit. I might install the OS again but does this sound like a hardware failure?
I have also already tried turning off and on again the "turn off mouse pad" button that the computer has. And it's only sometimes when I boot up the computer it won't responed, then I have to turn it off and turn it back on again in order for it to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust bought an Aspire ES1-511. Not my first Windows 8.1 laptop, but my first with UEIF firmware.
I've been trying to boot Driveimage from CD to do an offline backup, and guess what, it wouldnt recognise the CD as bootable. Fixed that by setting the boot type to "Legacy" in the BIOS and it boots fine.
My problem is that the mouse doesnt work after booting from the CD. Watching the behaviour of the mouse, it powers up when I press the power button, but powers off immediately the POST completes.
If booting Windows from the HD, power to USB is restored as soon as windows loads to the lock screen.
If anyone out there runs into an issue with the touchpad on a Sony Vaio where it suddenly stops working it may be due to static electricity. I bought a brand new VGN-NS240E (Jan 08 @ Best Buy) and while setting it up I ran into this issue and have seen many other reports on the WEB of the Sony touchpads suddenly dying. Try these steps for an easy fix:
1 - power down the unit.
2 - unplug the power adapter.
3 - remove the battery.
4 - hold down the power switch for about a minute or two.
5 - re-insert the battery.
6 - reconnect the power adapeter.
7 - power the unit on and see if the touchpad lives!
These quick and simple steps worked for me 2x. Noted on the second time it happened that I shocked the machine after walking across the carpet, that's why I said above I think its related to a static charge - bad design on this model of touch pad I suppose. I have Dell laptops and Acers never seen it before until this Sony.

My bios is 1.4 latest is 1.10.
I ran insydeflash as instructed by the .txt file and it froze my laptop the mouse or nothing could be pressed
It just said intialising for about 20 mins. In the end i had to pull the battery and hope no harm was done. Was a tense moment but luckily my laptop came out alive
Anyone know of this happening before or how i could stop it from freezing?
I just bought an Acer computer, and am to the point where I am about to return it for a MAC because I cant turn off the tap to click feature. I have tried going through the control panel and messing with the mouse settings. I have tried to install the elantech driver as well as the synaptics driver. I can't get the drivers to actually work. I have contacted Microsoft and they are basically like "we don't know so go ask Acer."

View 3 Replies View Relatedi ve got thinkpad t440s model 20AQ004VRT so it got europe only geforce GT 730M video card. I've noticed that if i use it all day long( about 4-5 hours, maybe got something to do with sleep mode) fan stops spinning and notebook gets really hot under high loads. Fan starts working only after reboot. I've tried to use tpfancontrol but smart mode stopped detecting cpu tempreture and even somehow crushed battery life detection, so ive had to remove it.
Other than that, I've got gorilla glass bit extruded from the left side. I can push it but it keeps coming back to that position.And ive had fingerprint reader error - system could not find it after some time of use, but that problem resolved itself somehow, maybe after ive removed northon protection system...
I own an Inspiron N5110, and dunno why, but the wireless stops working after a while. I had this problem in both windows 7 and ubuntu, and why this problem occurs.
And when it stops, it really means STOP, cause it stops detecting networks, when usually there are like a dozen of these around, and no matter what i do, how many times i disable and re enable it, it never seems to work, until i restart my laptop.
In ubuntu, this problem occurs whenever i download large files, and in windows 7, whenever id start any virtual machine.
i have a ACER Travelmate 2482WXMi, i have done a fresh install of windows XP home, i have done a full format of the hard drive, but i have issues the touchpad will not work only in safe mode. I have installed most of the drivers through safe mode, but the mouse will only work when i connect an external mouse when it's in normal mode.
Also i do get some bad sectors on the hard drive, and it takes over 2mins to shut down the comp. I havent installed programs yet, except PC Wizard 2008. Also the laptop is not the base model with 512MB ram i have added a 1gb stick and it works fine. I am thinking maybe its the hard drive. If
I bought a new Acer E5-571-5552 recently, it came with Windows 8.1 64bit. One of the ways I use my laptop often is in "docked mode", basically connect it to external monitor via HDMI, and external USB mouse & keyboard. I set the windows power options for "close lid" to do nothing, then it works fine like a desktop. This works fine with all other laptops I've used in the past (Lenovo, HP, Toshiba...etc). But this new Acer has trouble waking from sleep, the USB keyboard & mouse only light up, but doesn't wake up the fan/drive/monitor. I have to open the lid and press a key on the laptop (USB keyboard/mouse still doesn't).
I've opened case 3601882U and chatted with 2 agents, one had me update to latest BIOS 1.11 which didn't resolve it. The other tried to insist it was a limited feature, that the Acers had to have lid open to wake up the computer from sleep. I think this is a broken feature. Is this true for all Acers, or just this windows 8.1 model?
Just had my Aspire E15 for a month and even though the power supply lights are on it fails to start up and just have a blank screen with the pointer mouse on.

It's gotten so bad that I can't even use the computer at this time because the pointer won't stay in the same place long enough for me to type or select anything. I typically use the laptop in the screen forward configuration so I don't use the touch pad and nothing is touching it. I use the touchscreen about half the time and use an external USB mouse the rest of the time. It makes no difference which method I use or whether the external mouse is connected or not. as my fancy 4-month old laptop is essentially useless at this point.
