My laptop's wifi drivers are current. It will not load webpages after connecting to my wireless network. This is a known good network (iphones, ipads, macs can connect no problem and load pages). The Acer will connect, but it will not load webpages. Via ethernet, it works fine. No issues.
View 1 RepliesMy Thinkpad T520, Windows 7 Pro takes over a minute to load any webpage after waking from sleep. The wifi icon shows that the network has connected to the internet after about 10 seconds from wake up. But if I attempt to use a browser to load any webpage, I must wait nearly a minute before the page will load. After that, pages load quickly.
This problem occurs in multiple browsers (FF, IE, Chrome). I am using Intel Centrino Advanced N-6205 wireless adapter. I've updated the wireless driver and BIOS. I've cleaned out my registry using CCleaner, and I've defragmented.
One bit of advice I've read that I've tried from these forums does NOT work: Uncheck from Device Manager under the Power Management tab for my wireless adapater the option to Allow the Computer to Turn Off This Device to Save Power. Unchecking that option (which would seem to keep the driver on) makes the problem worse because the wifi will not reconnect at all.
I just bought a new Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-591G-74LK. I found the WIFI (Atheros AR5BWB222) disconnects every time the CPU/Fan is in full load or nearly full load. Once the CPU/Fan utilization is low, the WiFi connection recovers.

And now today My external monitor will dim and come back consistently on certain web pages. It seems to change depending on where my mouse is on the page.
I have lots of hard drive space left and Plenty of RAM.

I haven't been able to find a thing out about iWork 2010, so I'm assuming I'd just spring for the '09 version. In experimenting with the trial, I've noticed that even a simple import of a text-only .docx is formatted differently; it seems like the line spacing is different, because in the imported .pages that Pages makes from the source .docx I made, there are two additional lines of text on the first page. Why is this?
My big thing is that all created works must be easily taken to a different platform; I like OS X, but I have no allegiance to it or to Apple, and if a solid competitor to the 15" MBP comes along, I would seriously consider switching back to Windows 7. I rarely need to share .doc/.docx (or any other Office suite) files with others for their own editing, so PDF exports would suffice most of the time.
I know that .pages files are essentially archives containing XML data and a .pdf of the document, but I'd hate to have to hand-convert a bunch of XMLs if I did switch back. And sadly, Pages doesn't natively save to a .doc/.docx -- it only exports (though I did read about a hack to change that some time ago). Formatting mismatches for something as minor as line spacing are just concerning.
Frequently have the problem of getting stuck on web pages and having to close out the page and then open it up again. For example, am selling items on ebay and during the listing process - particularly when loading a photo - page freezes and am unable to navigate up or down or click on anything to move out of the page. When I attempt to reload the page the laptop seems to make an effort to do this but with no results. Have been clearing browsing data to see if that works but no luck. I am running Windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to load a retail version of Windows 7 HP x64 using USB on my Windows Vista HP x86 Acer 1410. I am able to boot from USB and the Windows 7 install program starts. I select Custom Install to do a new installation (not an upgrade). After I select the partition to install to, I get an error message like "can't find a system drive to install to..." I have tried this on two different 1410's with the same results.
It was the particular USB SD Card Reader I was using. I don't have a 4GB USB drive so I was using a USB SD Card reader and an 8GB SD card. I switch to a different Card Reader (same 8GB SD card) and it worked first time!
5 years ago I purchased an Acer One ZG8 Netbook. I have gotten alot of use although now I am facing a crash with Windows XP not loading. I wanted to do a factory reset and see if there is any hope to keep this older Acer as a back up netbook. After powering up the Acer One,,,Windows XP will not load. I am faced with a black screen offering options:
1.Safe Mode
2. Safe Mode with Networking
3. Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Or Last known good configuration (your most recent settings that worked). Lastly, Start Windows Normally
Finally, it prompts me to use the down arrow keys to choose with a 30 second countdown ticker.
I HAVE tried all the options for weeks and weeks. Just as Window XP loads a blue screen with word flash so quickly I can not possibly read it. I am very very close to letting this older version Acer meet its maker --- although through my ignorance I have realized just maybe I could do some sort of factory reset.
My 2 yrs old Acer 5500 60 GB HDD crashed ...I replaced it with another new 80 GB HDD...now when I inserted win98 boot disk and typed fdisk its showing only two partions one 2047 MB and another some 8GB . I deleted the partitions and again created but C: partition isnt exceeding 2047 MB and rest 8GB
Anyways I inserted my Acer XP Rescue disks and installed windows ...After booting it says Invalid Partion Table
Now my question is that how do I make Windows recognize the right Hard disk size ie 80 GB and run it successfully

I'm having some problems with my Acer Aspire 5050 AMD Turion 64 2.0 GHz running Windows Vista Home Basic
After using it for a little over a year it suddenly has a CPU load around 75 - 90%, and the mouse is not reacting very well. Besides that, it's almost impossible to use to keyboard. Thinking it might be some sort of virus, I checked for that. I found nothing.
I tried to do a erecovery of the machine, but it didn't help! Now i tried formatting the partition and installed XP instead. But still: it didn't help. the problems is still there.
I found that if i start in fail safe mode, the notebook's working. both mouse , keyboard and cpu load.
I am really baffled about about what's the cause of all my problems. I'm thinking it might be the BIOS that's f***** up, but i'm not shure about it.
Update: problem has been solved by using Windows 7 and Windows Media player 12.
This clip causes 100% CPU load on my 1810T. It seems to play smooth though.
Is there anyone that can play it with lower CPU load and good image quality?
If so, what is your setup?
I just bought an Aspire 5535 and it came with Vista Home Premium. I want to get rid of vista and load XP on it. Problem is I keep getting a hardware error when trying to load XP. I went as far as pulling the HD out of the notebook and hooking it up to my desk top to reformat it, and try it in the notebook at that point, same problem, blue screen f death when it tries to start the windows installation. I then take it out of the note book again and partially load XP up on it from my desktop till the first reboot prompt, re-install it back into the notebook, only to still have the same problem. Is there some hardware issue that needs to be over come here or am I missing something obvious? Or even still, will XP even work on this notebook?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Acer laptop died on me sometime last year, I tried to fix it, had somebody who is more techie than me look at it and we couldn't fix it. He managed to get all the data off but couldn't get it to boot up.
My brother recently had a similar problem with his desktop computer so he told me to put an XP disc in and change the BIOS so it booted from the CD ROM.
I have done this and it wont boot. It doesn't seem to recognise there is a disc in there.
When it loads, the Windows XP screen comes on, then a blue screen flashes up, can't read what it says as it doesn't stay on long enough, then the Acer screen comes up then the screen asking if you want to start up in safe mode etc comes up, if I select start as normal or from last know good configuration, it just keeps looping but if I select safe mode, a huge list of drivers comes up then it turns itself off.
I have tried to do the built in recovery but it doesn't work, just stays on please wait for hours.
I have got acer TravelMate P253-E. since last restart it is unable to load windows 8. whenever I start it says"preparing disk recovery" and after "do not turn off the device this might take more then hour" and goes on like this forever. I left it one whole night but was still the same.

One example is Dota 2, it takes about 4 mins to load to the main menu and then I have to start an offline bot match in order to load the map which also takes ~5 minutes. I didn't had this problem before reinstalling the windows and I really don't know what can be the problem...sure I installed all my drivers but not sure if they were good since you get tons of drivers for things your laptop doesn't even have

View 1 Replies View RelatedDue to what I thought were issues with SP1, I uninstalled it. Finding it not to be the case and that the uninstall left my machine somewhat "stuttery", I set it up for a system restore and went to bed. About eight hours later, I checked it and it was still restoring! I figured it had locked up (it's done this before) so I powered it off. Dumb move, I know.
Now, though, I try to start windows but it the screen gets stuck on black before it loads up the glowing windows logo. It will do the loading animation but that's it. I've tried loading Windows from CD but it doesn't make a difference. It loads the files with the DOS-like loading screen, then does the exact same thing.
I've also tried to get it to start in Safe Mode. I push the key to get there but the start-up selection screen only flashes before going right into loading Windows normally.
Please, I don't know what to do and I desperately need this machine to get anything done. It's just outside of warranty, so if there's any way for me to fix this myself I'd like to try.
Some things I've wondered about:
1) Is there a for sure way to get into the start-up selection screen?
2) Can I format the HDD with FDISK and then load windows from my vista cd and have it reinstall?

When using Safari it asks for me to use the login keychain every few pages. This confuses me as I never set it up in the first place. Also it asks for me to use the login keychain everytime I launch Skype which is a pain in the . The only cause of this I can think of is that my IT department at college thought it would be clever to set up a login keychain before they handed my Macbook over to me and not tell me the password. I've tried my main password to log into my Macbook and its keeps saying the password is invalid. not a massive problem but still would like to get to the bottom of it.
