I received my 6930 today and have a p9500 I want to replace the t5800 with, however Im stuck half way through dismantling it!
I've removed all the screws from the underside as it looks as if the heatpipe is attached somewhere under it, however it feels as if the underside casing is still attached somehow (possibly hidden screws?)
I tried popping the four tabs which hold the keyboard in on the topside, incase theres something under there, however they refuse to move also!
More than likely it's something small I've missed, or it could be I'm not applying enough force? Don't want to break something accidently though on a two hour old lappie
I'd be fairly confident pulling apart laptops- but this has me stumped..
About a week ago, some serious problems happened to my TravelMate 3280 to the point that booting in safe mode doesn't even work. I couldn't access the eRecovery Management either and didn't any recovery DVD.
So finally, I reinstalled windows XP SP3 from scratch. As a result, the computer didn't have Acer eRecovery Management installed. I still prefer the original factory settings though. So I browsed around online forums and found a thread by Pupples at Install Factory default, eRecovery
I did what Pupples suggested, managed to restore the alt+F10 function, and entered the Acer Recovery Management during start-up. Then, I chose the Restore Factory Settings option.
The restoration process began smoothly until about 50-60% progress when an error message occured. It says:
Fails in creating or opening a file
C:preload.tag
D:preload.tag
X:preload.tag
After those messages, the computer booted again from the beginning and then entered a black screen with a writing on the top of the screen. The writing:
NTLDR is missing. Press any key to continue.
I pressed any key, but the same NTLDR message kept on re-appearing.
Does this have anything to do with the FAT32 or NTFSthing?
Are there any ways to restore my TravelMate 3280's factory settings?
I've always thought my notebook gets too hot. Now I've found a way to find out how hot it really is. Here are the results in a image link. What do you guys think?

Does anyone know how to remove the primary HDD from an Acer 6930 laptop? It seems to be designed not to be removed, very annoying. I hope we're not returning to the bad old days of having to remove half the casing just to get at one component.

I put the hard drive in my desktop computer and when i tried to boot to it i got the error message that the computer was in hibernation and unable to come out of this mode. I then formatted the partition and was still unable to boot to the vista cd so i installed xp, however... after the splash screen and the windows loading screen, i again get a black screen. i've tried removing the battery and unplugging it for a while but nothing seems to work.

I've been experiencing kind of a problem with my Acer 2420 laptop. When I start up its usually pretty fast, but eventually it begins to slow down to the point where I have to restart the system completely. I have it running Windows Vista Home Edition at 512MB of ram, 1.5Ghz.
Its really weird because sometimes when I unplug the charger it works again but after I plug it back in, like 10 minutes later it starts slowing down again. I can't figure it out.

View 6 Replies View Relatedtype of connector needed for digital audio? I have not been able to confirm that my Acer 7720-6395 NB has a dual digital connection. The manual calls the jack a S/PDIF but looks like and allows a stereo plug to work. Talking to the folks at the Sony store claims that the jack could be a dual connector and would work with a headphone or a optical connection. Would love to watch a blue ray movie with 5.1 sound......

View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought my Acer 8530G Notebook a few months ago for the start of university. I picked it so that it could function as a desktop, whilst being able to tackle new games reasonably well. At first, it was fantastic, running games on high quality with lag only rarely. But then it began to lag immensely after about one month of me owning it. Not just in the games, but on the desktop aswell and when surfing the net. Also, sound began to crackle when I played music. It only cracked a little when using the built in speakers, however when I used earphones, the crackling rendered music unlistenable.
I began to think about what may have caused the problem. I uninstalled some of the larger programs on my computer to free up hard drive space, then got rid of additional applications that ran in the background (None that came pre-installed, mind, although they were few), then did full virus scans to check for anything malignant. The scans came up clean. all clear.
Even after all this, the performance is still -poor.
So I was wondering if any of you people have suggestions on what may have happened, or if the Acer 8530G has underlying problems?

If you have never heard about Windows tax, Windows refund or anyone ever getting refund for Windows OS then perhaps it is time to look it up.
I don't think many people are aware of the fact that it is possible (and you have the all the rights to) to get a refund for Windows OS if you aren't planning to use it.
Getting Windows OS refund is like returning unused/unneeded product to get your money back. For example, if you are using Linux on your computer, why should you pay for Windows OS? Or, if your study institution provides FREE premium Windows OS, why should you pay for the crippled one that comes with your computer? Why should you even be forced to use Windows?
I decided not to pay for Windows OS. It is in the principle.
Please note: The key in getting Windows OS refund is in DECLINING the EULA agreement the first time computer boots up (or not turning computer on at all). If you accepted the EULA you are out of luck!
Here is how I got Windows OS refund from Acer Canada:
I purchased my Acer Aspire 1410 from Canadian Staples Business Depot. For 5 days I played around with it by booting Ubuntu Linux from SDHC card to make sure it was working correctly, there were no defects, etc, and after making the final decision of keeping the notebook, I picked up the phone and called Acer Technical Support (1-866-706-2237).
After getting a hold for an agent I explained that I would like to get a refund for Windows Vista Home Premium that came pre-installed on my laptop and quoted EULA agreement:
Quote:
By using the software, you accept these terms [of EULA agreement]. If you do not accept them, do not use the software. Instead, contact the manufacturer or installer to determine their return policy for a refund or credit...................

i am using acer aspire 5600 xp/vista and LION battery.
my battery had memory effect once and could work for like 15-20 min.but its indicator worked fine at that time.
but now memory effect is gone and i am now facing a new problem.
At full charging, system shows that battery is not connected even it is connected.even if i unplug the AC supply still it thinks that notebook is running from AC supply.During this period i cant use my laptop keyboard and touchpad.I Can use only externally connected keyboard and mouse.
While notebook is using the laptop battery(Ac Unplugged),after sometime it detects the battery and the indicator shows 7% of battery time. Then my notebook keyboard and touchpad starts to work and then this percentage decreases to 0%. The time between shift of percentage is approx 10 min . Even On 0% the battery works fine and works for like 15 min. Overall Battery can work for like 1 hr 30 min approx(Low Performance).
My main problem is i cant use my laptop keyboard and touchpad while the battery is fully charged. i have to drain my battery in order to use keyboard and touchpad.
Does Dell plan on releasing a new 12.1in notebook this summer? I currently have the 700m but I am thinking about something new. I see HP 2133. Its pretty slick but too small and lacks DVD drive. I think 12.1in is the smallest laptop I will buy.
