Recently, my Blackbook has had some troubles when I close the lid. What happens is the light never starts pulsing, and the laptop gets really warm and the fan goes crazy. When I open the lid, the screen stays black. When I reboot it, It shows the grey screen, goes black for a sec, then restarts. I tried reseting the pram, but it didnt help.

I have a Studio 1558 laptop running Windows 7. Recently, when I open an application (ex. Microsoft Word, McAfee, Excel), the screen fades to black, stays black for 2-3 seconds, then pops back up. It has happened at a few other times too, but I don't recall the specific circumstances. The laptop is 2 1/2 years old, unfortunately out of warranty ....

The symptoms:
-Screen stays black, also with an external monitor
-Fans goes on for a few secs like always
-Keyboard leds flashes one time
I removed the harddisk and cdrom drive but no difference. I think the mainboard is death Out of warranty...
My laptop is booting properly. I can hear the windows start up sound. I can event browse the shared files from remote computer. But the monitor stays black.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy acer aspire v5 - 122p went through an automatic update recently after it powered back on it never booted past the initial Acer boot screen I eventually did a hard resetbut now the screen stays completely black the fan is on the blue lights are on but nothing else. From what I have read online you can flash the bios but the file I have downloaded on the Acer website does not match any of the tutorials I have read or watched.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a acer aspire 3000 i got from some relatives but when i turn it on it turns on i can here the fan kick on an the dvd drive go click click and stuff but then fan stops and it goes dead silent and the screen never shows anything from the beggining by any chance do those little switches that shut off the screen when u close it ... .do they ever brake ...? ive tried hooking it up to another monitor but it doesnt show a screen of anything but it must send some type of a signal cause its just a plain blank screen and once i unplug it it sais no signal no signal all over

Is it the Mother board or the Harddrive? Replaced screen due to vertical and horizontal lines in color. Computer worked normal at times. I thought it was fixed but then while doing a HP diagnostic program the computer said to shut down because the batttery situation might harm the computer . I tested the AC adapter. I installed a new battery and at first it was working again. I updated and scanned with AVG & Malwarebytes. Did another HP diagnostic and at one point was told to restart. It never lived again to this point.
All it does is light up the power light and W/LAN (F 12). Blue lights are on at times indicating Cap locks and number locks are engaged. I did do a complete factory restore before it came to this point and updated the bios (to F 37) and downloaded updates for chipsets and Graphics also.(after screen installed) The only thing it does now is make noises at startup and power indicator is lit now Light keeps cycling.(light off, light on) in ten second intervals.
I have laptop listed above. For the past 3 days I hasn't not been able to get it in. it sounds like its starting but the screen stays black. Recently installed antivirus on 01/01/2012 because I had some kind of worm/malware. Windows 7 is the OS. Cap lock light is on and "hp combo assistant" light is on constant no blinking. Don't know what to do.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with the screen of my laptop. had bought the laptop jus 3 days back.. :( the problem I am facing is that... once I close my lid and open in in a few seconds, it still gives me a blck scree which does not respond. however If the let the lid be closed for a longer period life 10 sec it works normally. Previously today I experienced an other issue, that was, once I closed the lid and opened it back, it gave me a black screen with one bright spot. bt this was gone after pressing the power button a few times.

1) AIM wont open (fixed, I had to change port number) So now AIM works on iChat and Adium
2) MSN wont open on the actual application (Mac Messenger) I want to webcam chat with people, and it just WONT start. It starts on adium since I checked the box to use http or something, but I can't webchat on adium.
When I try to open messenger, it says I am not connected to internet, which I clearly am...
I checked my routers firewall. And I am not too sure how to change things on the macs firewall. I just want to use messengers..
i'm having a issue with my santa rosa mbp. I left for dinner and left my notebook on. Naturally the machine went to sleep. After i came back the machine would not boot up, the screen doesn't even turn on. The light on the latch release remains on. When i try a hard reboot, i'm having the same issue. Black screen, doesn't even get to the grey screen with the apple logo. I've tried going on 1 dimm or ram to see if it's a issue with the ram and still doesn't fix it.

Every once in a while, generally not every day but once every few days, I have a split-second issue where half of the screen on my MBP flashes black for a split-second. Everything's perfectly normal before and afterwards, just that. I suppose it's not terribly bothersome, but it is noticeable. I'll be doing anything from web surfing, to just doing a time-machine back up and "whosh", the screen goes black with a 1/2" wide multicolored pixelated horizontal stripe about 1" from the top remaining.
This has happened about a dozen times, with the only option being to hold down the power button to reboot.
I went into the the nearest Apple Store to a Genius Bar appointment to see if there was anything to be done. Mind you, i also ran every known diagnostic I could get my hands upon, before I went, and everything checks out a-ok.
The Genius bar guy says it's a "known issue" with the new unibody Macs with the 9400M graphics processor. A "known issue"??? How come I have never heard about this on NBR?
I am supposed to wait until Apple issues it's firmware "fix" according the the GB guy.
Is this by design? I never noticed it before, and I'm wondering if it's always been that way, or if something has recently gone wrong.
I have it set not to go to standby or anything when I close the lid, but it seems like it should still turn the backlight off to conserve battery.
On my Black Macbook is it when it is charging the screen feels different than when it is running on the battery. For example, when it is charging and I run my finger along the screen there is more resistance and it is not as smooth as when it is running on the battery. Is this normal?

I uninstalled this one as well leaving me with the bare bones driver that comes with windows. After installing the modded driver again and restarting it began to work again................................................
Suddenly my PC started to stay for about 1 miinute at the HP logo during boot time, usually it took only a few seconds. There was no hardware change at the time of period of the start of this problem. These are the things i tried to solve this issue, but without success
-formatting the laptop
-reseating the rams
-reconnecting the hard disk
-changed the hard disks
-updating the bios
-disabling floppy, CD/DVD drive and network adapter check for boot devices

it happened two times today, the screen went totally black, the fans stop working and the "sleep lights" turned on and off. Soon after the disc drive made the sound that id usually makes when turning the computer on.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust installed Visa 64 , everything went fine , but every time i boot into Vista i get a black screen with a white cursor in the top left have corner flashing very fast and it does this for almost 60 seconds and then Vista boots normally.
I have tried unplugging everything from my Mac , but i still get the same problem.
It looks like Vista is wating for something then it gives up, I have not installed any software only the bootcamp driver.
Anybody know what is wrong, I had Xp on previously and did not have this problem on fat32 , Vista only works on NTFC if that makes a difference.
No matter how many times i restart the labtop, it will first go black screen with dell log, then "resuming windows", then goes to the "logging off.." screen and stays there FOREVER. I tried to use both battery or AC power but they are just the same. I can adjust the lightness of screen using my keyboard but I cant see my mouse pointer anywhere on the screen so i cant click on anything.

1. Pressed the power button to turn on the laptop
2.the fans run and the computer makes its usual whirring noises as it would normally do whilst booting up.
3.the screen however remains completely inactive. As if the laptop is off.
4. I turned it off and on again several times. Once it came on and worked as normal, I could access all files and backup everything.
5. This morning I turned it back on and it has done the same thing. Makes the sounds as normal but screen is inactive.
I have turned off and on again and connected an HDMI cable to an external screen but there is no signal.
Where can I get a new body for Dell Vostro 5460, there seems to be some problem with the hinges, every time I open the lid the bottom creaks open.
