tried to reinstall XP on my 1705; XP had intall errors; now Windows Installer wont work, half the language in XP operating system appears to be Farsii,
and all drivers are gone; Internet Explorer wont run (takes me to properties page); best way to fix?
i have recently formatted my hard drive and installed cean copy of Vista Ultilate on my DELL Inspiron 1525 machine. I did not use dell recovery partion to install, instead i use Vista Disk.
I was able to install all the drivers except bluetooth. Whenever i try to to install bluetooth drivers i get following error " The installer be run on windows vista only"..
i was with dell tech support for couple of hours but they were not able to solve my problem. The bluetooth is enabled in BIOS, switch is on etc.
Recently I have purchased a DELL XPS 15 (L521X) but I am not able to install windows 8 pro on it as the installer could not find the hard disk and keep continuously ask for the driver.

My raid setting is ISRT, but I can't enter the raid bios, cause CTRL+ I does nothing. I also tried CTRL + R and G but neither worked. How to reinstall the OS?
When I install software on my  new Yoga 2 Pro, in some cases the installer window is small and won't maximize. It doesn't matter if the the program is old or new. This only seems to show up on the installer in widows.

MY laptop is a HP Pavillion dv5 1223TX, I was having issues so I did a factory reset via recovery manager, I have installed as many Windows updates as it has allowed, I am trying to download software that I was using before reset, like iTunes, Java etc, but I keep getting an error 'The windows installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed' I have tried various downloads to rectify this but to no avail.

Now, the problem is that I have all my hardware in but not really have the correct drivers. 1) the bios version that I have if I'm not wrong is the A00. From what I read I need the A01 correct? Or is there a better? Also, the 7950GTX that I put in is recognized by the computer but doesn't perform well at all. For one, I know that I don't have the correct drivers for it. Where could i get good drivers for this card besides Dell? Is the whole problem a result from not flashing the bios? It doesn't have the XPS bios.

Like I'll be playing a game and it pauses with a click sound and sometimes I swear the darn thing is shocking me when I touch its side. It could be static electric but it seems to happen a lot. But, away I tried a friends Dell ac power plug and all the same stuff happens.
Anyone know what the deal is or maybe how to prevent what's happen? Using the computer isn't as cool as it used to be....
I am running Windows 8, and i followed a tutorial on hp forums to get sound enhancements to work, it told me to unistall my current idt driver and download a newer one. So i did and it works great until it says the hardware detected is not supported by this idt software package. I have a pavilion g6 with 8 gig ram and i5 proccesor.

Not sure which drivers to download from the Dell web page either. I just got the basic wifi card when I ordered (not the fancy Intel model)

The warranty is getting ready to end in a few days so I called Dell to see how much it would be to extend it. They gave me a quote of $169 for one year or $255 for two years (complete care would be additional).
I know everyone hates these types of posts, but I do need help. I am a desktop guy with a laptop. I am trying to decide what, if any upgrades I should make to my Dell E1705.
This thing is SLOW. It currently takes about 10 minutes to boot the darn thing and almost a minute to launch a web browser. I have to do something. It is to the point that my wife and I never turn it on. My desktop probably will be upgraded in about a year, so I am looking for a little bump rather than spending $1,000 on a new laptop. The current configuration is below:
Intel Core Duo T2500 @ 2.00 gigahertz
Windows XP w/ SP3
98 GB 5400 rpm hard drive (33 GB free)
2 GB of Pc-5300 RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 video card
My though was to upgrade the following:
4GB (2 X 2GB) of Mushkin Enhanced Essentials PC2-5300 Ram ($95)
WD Scorpio Black 320GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive ($70)
Windows Home Premium 32-bit ($100)
I know that it may only recognize 3.2GB of the ram, but I am willing to pay for even just the 1.2GB more. I do worry slightly about Windows 7 with my processor, which I think is one of the two major bottlenecks. Unfortunately it, and the second concern - the video card – cost $300 +. So I figure for just under $300 I can breathe a couple more years out of it. I am not a heavy user, mostly multimedia and productivity apps like MS Office.
i changed out the video card and in the process I did a drivers cleaner and deleted all the old video drivers now the problem is that when It restarted it did so without any drivers the card and the screen works (did a diagnostics test) but how do I go about reinstalling the drivers so I can get the display to come up after the Windows XP logo.
I can hear the wndows screen coming up but the screen is blank. The 7900GTX card went out so I went to to the 7800GS and I have the drivers just need to get them installed.
So is there something I can do to to bring everything normal?
Well as some of you know I got my Inspiron E1705 replaced with an Inspiron 1720 because my E1705 was having major heat problems.
I always noticed that the E1705 ran pretty hot, but I started monitoring it latley and the CPU and GPU reached temps around 200 F...mainly due to the Geforce Go 7800 heat issues.
Called DELL and they were going to replace my system with an Inspiron 1721.. I raised cain and they sent an Inspiron 1720.
I was actually impressed with the 1720's looks. It is well built, and I loved the dual hard drive capability, as well as built in MIC.. and it had a faster burner DVDRW. I also loved the Chocolate..AKA Espresso Brown color.
I was VERY disappointed that it did not have HDMI or no longer DVI built in as I have a 52" Samsung LCD that loves to take advantage of this connection.
Well I am NOT a huge gamer... but I do like to occasionally game, and when I started doing benchmarks with Vista's performance analyzer and noticed video LAG while doing simple tasks but serious multitasking, I was very disappointed...............
FAQ indicates 4GB as max amount of RAM. But Dell's own data at [url] says 2GB.
To make things more confusing, some posts on notebookreview listed that exact URL as proof that the 1705 would use 4GB. So the Dell info was probably revised from 4GB to 2GB.
I've been getting the occasional BSOD on my 1705 with the 7900 GS. Is there any fix for this? I saw the one for the 7950 GTX but I don't know if that works the same as the 7900 GS.

When I turn my Dell Inspiron 7720 on, integrated webcam often does not work. Camera app in Windows 8 shows "there's a problem with a camera", other apps also show error messages or just a black screen.
After several resets the camera may start to work properly till the next reset. The camera is always shown in the Device Manager without errors and in the USBView I see that at least USB descriptors are correct. Moreover, after several disable/enable cycles in device manager the camera may start to work.
I've created two HDD partitions and installed Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8 Pro (both from original ISO files downloaded from MSDN). On clear Win 8 the camera shows the same problem, but on Win 7 it works properly.
There is no camera driver for Inspiron 7720 on the Dell web-site, thus I've used standard Microsoft driver on both Win 7 and Win 8.
I'm still not sure is it a hardware problem, because it is reproduced only with Windows 8. The computer was initially sold with Ubuntu, but Windows 8 is in the list of supported OS.
Camera IDs are: VID = 0C45 (Sonix), PID = 648D, REV = 2206.
I got Inspiron 15R 5520 with Windows 8 and after I installed this OS my webcam doesn't work properly anymore.Well, actually it's work but sometimes. Â But almost all the time Skype telling me that I should close all the programs that may use the webcam, but I haven't any other apps that uses webcam, Is there some additional drivers or application I should install? Â BTW it worked properly on Windows 7. And it IS working on Ubuntu so I presume that's a software issue.
View 1 Replies View Relatedtried to upgrade my Latitude E5510 from 2x2Gb (factury Samsung) to 2x4Gb Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9. BIOS updated to Rev. A13, latest. Memory is recognized as 8Gb. But booting into Windows7 X64 doesn't work anymore. If I boot from a Lubuntu CD (x86) it runs, naturally only with approx. 4Gb since this is a x86 OS-version. Windows 7 X64 just reboots. If I use Save Mode a reboot occurs when the loading of "ClassPnP.sys" starts. When I put in the old 2x2Gb everything works perfectly. Can't even get into Windows Setup from a clean DVD.

Windows 8 recognizes it and shows the action center flag and advises us to install a new driver.. I just received a new MacBook Aluminum and I'm wondering about software. I do web development and graphics work for a living, and this also necessitates a fair amount of writing. I want to leave my Windows machine as a Windows machine and try to use the MacBook solely as an OS X machine, so I'd like to be able to replicate my working environment on the MacBook in terms of software.
I've compiled a short list of software I use on a daily basis, and it'd be great to get recommendations for OS X replacements.
In Windows I use:
1. Macromedia Studio 8 (primarily Dreamweaver)
2. Microsoft Office Professional 2003 (primarily Word, Access, and Excel, but I do use Outlook occasionally for reminders and as an address book)
3. Windows Mail (Outlook Express)
4. AbsoluteFTP or FileZilla

6. Adobe CS2 (primarily Photoshop)
So far I've come up with a OS X replacement list of:
