View 3 RepliesI have a Dell Inspiron laptop and my mousepad does not work while typing. This is an annoying default setting and it prevents me from being able to play most computer games. I have already tried changing the dell touchpad settings (Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Dell Touchpad) to no avail, and I am not willing to get a mouse.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs that a way to disable touchpad while typing?...
I saw a lot of post talking about this for Sony Vaio, I can't find the option in my dell E6500.
Currently, I am using alps driver 7.2.101...
how do you disable the touch pad when using a mouse or typing on a Inspiron 15Z Ultrabook?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo 3000 N100 with Windows Vista. I want to disable the touchpad when using a USB mouse. The touchpad does not show up in the control panel under 'mouse'. There is no button anywhere near the touchpad. There is no function key with a mouse or touchpad symbol visible on it. There are 4 buttons on the top right, 3 control volume, and the 4th one looks like an orange suitcase with a wrench, but it doesn't appear to do anything. How I can disable the touchpad to stop the cursor from jumping all over when I'm typing?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSomehow on the left side of my mousepad a slight tear has appeared in the pad. Initially I didn't have any problems with it but now my mousepad has begun to start staying in a vertical line and not allowing me to scroll side to side. I gotta believe that its from this tear, the tear is like the surface in this spot has begun create like a slight lower in a spot.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my new XPS 13; wiped it and reinstalled Windows and all of the drivers, etc. My mousepad, though, doesn't register the motions (pinch, scroll, etc). They worked before I reformatted. I thought that I had installed all of the drivers, but must have missed something.
Any tips on how I can check whether this feature is enabled on my computer or if I have to download any other files?
I just bought a brand new computer. Started it up and the mouse pad is working intermittently! Sometimes I'll try dragging over to click an icon and it freezes! Is there a problem with the computer? I'll shut down and it will work fine for an hour, then quit working, or move very slowly. I changed all the settings for the mouse pad and still doesn't work correctly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever i'm using the key board, I can't use my mousepad at the same time. For example: if i'm holding the space bar, my mouse jams and no matter what i'm doing to the mouse pad, I can't move the mouse for as long as I hold a button. This presents major problems for gaming etcetera. I am using A dell N5050.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC and have recently noticed my LED has stopped working around the outisde of the mouse pad.The mouse pad works fine and can use all the gestures etc but like the glow on around the pad...
You can disable the pad by double clicking on the little button on the left hand corner and the amber led turns on... but the white one does not glow when it is in use?
The mouse part of it works perfectly, as does the right clicker - but the left one is completely useless, which isn't good as that's the most important one.
I noticed this a few weeks ago that it was no longer as 'secure' as the right one, i.e. is seemed to be giving way on one side of the left clicker, and was moving about a bit in it's place. Now it's gotten progressively worse and no longer is able to click even, so it doesn't work and I have had to plug in an optical mouse to the usb port.
I lifted the little mouse clicker slot up with a knife to see what is wrong but all that seems to be the problem is that it is incredibly loose and no longer sits straight in its positioning. Underneath both clickers there is a small button attached to the mainboard and obviously the clicker needs to touch this to perform its' actions. But the left one doesn't seem to be reaching..
So basically I want to know is it likely that Acer would repair this for me? The laptop is still under warranty.
I guess the only long-term solution is an entire new mousepad, which would be expensive.
And that'd suck because 3/4 of it works perfectly and it's just this one button.
My acer loaded in xp as normal but my keypad and mousepad were unresponsive so i did a clean install with xp(not acer recovery) that ran through to when you do user input and froze again now i have a new hd and the same thing is happening except when i load into safe mode then everything is fine,

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe right click button does not work on the mouse pad, as well as on a usb mouse. I have used Acer factory recover disks to restore it to out of the box condition. Same issue. If you use control panel to switch buttons then the only thing that happens is the cursor moves no click at all. Also after a period of time letting the computer warm up suddenly the cursor is working but even the left click will not function it will highlight the icon but not allow you to click it. I am wondering is the only solution to replace the motherboard since it appears to be a heat aggravated problem. And before I forget, yes I have replaced the drivers a couple of times clean install as well

Its super irritating that the charms pops up when accidentily touching the mousepad to close to the edge. My PC is not a tablet and why this is activated in the first place is to me sstrange. I want to completly remove all edge guestures on my mousepad. I have tryed to install the last driver because someone said that the option was added in the new driver, but no luck.

The internel cable that connects the motherboard to the keyboard and the mousepad got worn off. I have mistakenly damaged it while cleaning my laptop from dust.
Is there an online store that sells that cable so I could fix it my self?
I cleaned my xps 13 ultrabook last week with foamclene. I didn't spray it directly on to my keyboard but must have had too much on the cloth. Anyway my fn key is now typing letters from the middle row of kes, in varying combinations - jfsda, jfsd, jfs, jfa, jfk. When I noticed, I left the machine upside down to dry out for a few days but nothing changed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that when I type quickly, sometimes cursor jumps to different position in text so it spoils what I wrote already before.
It's really annoying and I can't find out why is this happening.
I thought that maybe it's related somehow to this laptop.
I'll be typing on a website or a document, and suddenly the cursor will appear somewhere else in the document. It doesn't happen all the time, maybe once every couple of minutes of continuous typing, but it's incredibly annoying espcially when the cursor appears all the way at the top of a long text.
I think it's some sort of software error, because I don't remember it happening before I did the clean Vista install.
One time when it occured I happened to be pressing the Shift key, it selected all my text, which makes it seem like it thinks I'm pressing an arrow key or something (but my hands are only touching the letter keys)
I have an Inspiron 15R SE 7520 and while typing, the cursor frequently jumps around and will begin typing in a previously typed line. This is extremely frustrating. I am running Windows 8 and have looked to find where I can adjust the sensitivity of my touchpad but can't find it anywhere. I've seen other posts for other computers that suggest uninstalling the touchpad driver and reinstalling it. What I should do for my specific laptop to stop this from happening? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad driver. If so, how do I do that for the Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520 running Windows 8? I'm also keeping my hands off the touchpad while typing but the cursor still moves.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening when typing emails in Outlook. It will be interesting to see if it happens while typing this. So far it's been OK. I have a Dell XPS M1530. There it did it just then, the 1530 jumped into the subject field. It always jumps into somewhere I have already typed. So it doesn't just happen in Outlook. It is very annoying. I am using a Bluetooth mouse, but also there is a touchpad just under my hands. Could it be that I bump it by mistake?
I don't know it that's the problem as the touchpad cursor is different to the typing cursor. I'm watching the touchpad cursor and it's not moving. The typing cursor is behaving itself now. I have just moved the touchpad cursor up the screen a bit and the typing cursor is still behaving itself.
While I am typing my hands are well clear of the touchpad. It just jumped again, and it did not jump to where the touchpad cursor was, so it's not related to that.
I have a Dell XPS M1730 with 4GB Ram, 1TB in HD space. It is loaded with Windows 8.It works great except for one little thing. When I start typing I have to watch where the mouse is. If it is in the middle of the text I am typing, it will go there in the middle of me typing. This becomes very annoying.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my dell inspiron m5110 from windows 7 home premium to windows 8 Professional from the online store at microsoft. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have in inspiron 4100 for about 14 months. I have noticed that while typing, the cursor my move back to a different position in the line, move to a previous line, or jump to another text box altogether. It drives me crazy that when I type, I never know if there is some combination of keys or if I accidently touch something to make the cursor change position.
Is there by default some combination of keys that cause cursor movement. It has happened 4 times while typing this message.
Can this be turned off?
I just got my laptop and having trouble with the keyboard, the top rows are typing double digits, my number keys are having letters in front of them and or symbols appearing in other areas of my page.after two days already tired of backspacing to correct or keep starting over and over again.
