Aug 3, 2009I ordered a customized studio 15 directly from dell on july 18th with a design studio lid.
It shows it is scheduled to be delivered on august 11th but it still shows it as in production on dells website when i log in.
I was just wondering if that sounds right or if i should give dell a call?

I purchased a Dell Mini 10v from the outlet well over a month ago. It arrived July 14 and was faulty straight out of the box (crackling, hissing noise). It was sent to the depot, returned several days later,
and when I turned it on the same problem was still there. It's some problem with the speakers not working properly. I call Dell again. The laptop was sent to the depot a second time--it just got returned a couple days ago .....

Aug 16, 2009I'm just starting my 5th year with my Inspiron 6000. Bought it in August 2005 for just under $800 out the door.
I was planning on buying a new one but I realized that everything in that price range these days isn't really a huge improvement over what I already have, and since the thing still works, there's really no need to upgrade.
I have had to make a few fixes over the years (upgraded HD, RAM, new keyboard, screen/inverter, battery, top bezel, power jack, power adapter) but at this point it's almost a matter of pride to be able to fix something for $15 or $20 by just buying the part on eBay and maybe spending 30-60 minutes with a screwdriver.

Dec 14, 2009For all you M1530 owners, how long have you had it for and is the 'defective' GPU still working fine?
For those that had the M1530 or had it replaced, how long did the GPU last before it died?
Also, please mention whether you undervolt/undervolted your CPU and use/used a notebook cooler as I think this would affect the life of it.
Had mine since April '08 and the current motherboard since December '08. Undervolted CPU and notebook cooler. Still working perfectly.

The cosmetics of the laptop itself is in perfect condition but everything inside seems to be busted.
Issues:
1. Battery is no long working .
2. Headphone jack broken, in return the speakers will no longer work.
3. ** Go 7900gs is busted leading to BSOD parity error every 5-10 minutes

Apr 1, 2010So I just got my new 1647 replacement set up finally and one thing I keep running into is an INCREDIBLY long black load screen between the windows 7 animation thingy and when you actually log in..
Even the windows 7 animation takes longer to load than normal...Than I get a black screen for a good 2 minutes before my mouse then shows up then about another 30 secs I get the login finally...
Whats going on? I have my old 1640 side by side and it boots instantly!
Dell Vostro 3400 :: Getting Very Hot After Long Usage
Jan 8, 2013I have a Dell Vostro 3400 laptop that since some months ago is getting very hot after long usage.
I work with this laptop so it is usually powered up all day long.
I always keep the laptop placed on a fan basement that has 3 fans working all the time.
Well... since some days ago, laptop suddenly shuts down powering itself off. When that happen, I place the palm of my hand touching the keyboard and without lying, my hand burns. So I think this is the reason why the laptop shuts down, and I cannot power up again until some period has passed.
Why may be the reason of this heat? hardware problem? how can I diagnose it?
Dell Inspiron 15R :: Shutting Down Not Long After Boot?
Mar 26, 2013I have a problem with my 15R. It shuts down "for no reason". Right now it takes him up to 20 s to shut down so there's no time for any diagnostic software:
it shutdown in BIOS too
it shutdown with battery only and AC only
it shutdown with HDD, CD, SD card reader, WIFI... and everything else that was unpluggable
it DOES NOT shutdown without RAM
it shutdown with any combination of my 2 RAM DIMMs
after a long break it needs ~20 s to shutdown, 10 after a short break
I suspect it's a thermistor as the fan makes a lot of noise even in BIOS. So my question is - what could be the problem and where are 15R thermistors located so I could check if they are fine.

Jan 18, 2010I was cleaning my computer and got it back together and had one of the HDD's die. I replaced it with a differany HDD, reformatted and installed the OS (Vista) but when I start it up the BIOS gets about 80% loaded and then next 20 takes 2-3 min. to load. It used to be much faster, within a matter of seconds. I tried reflashing the BIOS but that didn't change anything. Anyone have suggestions? Computer is the Inspiron 1720 in my sig.

Dell Inspiron 15 7537 :: Taking So Long To Start From Sleep?
Dec 27, 2014I'm trying to understand why my new Inspiron 15 7000 series takes so long to start after being put to sleep as I don't believe it should take this long.
The power settings are configured to go into sleep mode whenever the lid is closed or the power button is pressed. If, after closing the lid, I re-open the lid within a short space of time, the laptop bursts into life almost immediately. However, if it is left longer, then when opening the lid, nothing happens and I have to (briefly) press the power button. It then takes about 30 seconds for the windows desktop to appear. This is simply too long!
I've also noticed that if the laptop is left idle and it "powers off", which is set to sleep mode then it again takes about 30 seconds to resume when pressing the power button.
The laptop is running Windows 8.1 64 bit and has 8gb of RAM and an i7-4510U CPU.
I have a 5 year old Acer laptop running windows 7, which is faster at starting from hibernate mode than this Dell Inspiron, which suggests that the Dell is actually hibernating, however none of the power settings are set for it to do this.
How to get this Dell Inspiron to start in a reasonable time from sleep mode as 30 seconds is not acceptable.

How long should this normally take, im not a native OSX user? Im tempted to do a hard-reboot but am I being too impatient? Also, am I looking at a borked machine if I do a hard reboot, or does Mac OS have the same kind of safety features as Windows (ie Restore point)?

Aug 7, 2013Am using Delll N4050 more than a year, now am facing some shutdown issues.
Computer details: My Laptop shipped with ubundu and I installed windows 7 home premium.
Processor: Intel core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHz
System: 64-bit
Problem: For past one year it was working fine but now am facing shutdown issues. When I shutdown my laptop it's not shutting properly (i.e.) power led keeps glowing and fan keeps running until i long press power button to shut it down. But restart works fine. Same problem occurs when I put in sleep mode and hibernate mode.

I think Sony is quite poor in battery management area, they should provide a application list thinkpad to test the current then tell you how long it can last.
