Dell Inspiron 15 :: Purple Tinted Webcam?
Oct 22, 2014I realize that my webcam has tinted purple. i tried to look for any button to change the tint or maybe white balance, but there was none. it wasn't like this at the beginning.

Nov 16, 2009After using my new Vaio Z for a few hours i noticed a slightly greenish hue at the bottom of the screen(1600x900). It's mostly visible with white or very light background.
There are a few of those spots and i think it originates from uneven LED backlight. It's not instantly obvious, but after i've noticed it I find it somewhat distracting.

Feb 28, 2009Have used my txn daily for 2 years.. slow but love the size for portability. Booted up this morning and there's a purple-ish streak going down the right side of the screen. See 2 pics attached. (I've never attached pics so hopefully this will work).
Is this streak a sign the LCD is going bad or the graphics card going bad?

May 15, 2010I got an Inspiron 1520 used at a great price for a family member, but it needs a little minor work, so I'm taking care of that before passing it on.
While I'm doing that (mainly a palmrest/trackpad replacement, and I'm upgrading its wireless, maybe even the CPU for grins),

This model does not have the built-in webcam. Is it possible to upgrade it by finding a bezel/webcam/mic assembly on Ebay, and just hooking it up, or are there other parts that I'd need

Feb 9, 2013my laptop was running extremely slow, so I decided I wanted to wipe it. Where my OS disc and other discs were, so I tried using one from an alienware laptop. It worked for a temporary fix but said it would expire in 30 days. I called Dell and ordered a new OS disc and the other discs that come with my laptop.
I got my laptop up and running again, but before I wiped it I had dell webcam central and now I don't! I'm not sure how to open my webcam and take pictures

There is no option on the start menu for the webcam, and I've checked the device manager, and indeed, the webcam is there and working properly, according to the Properties. Ran a diagnostic in the Dell Support area, and the cam came on when the diagnostic ran, so I know it's there and working. So how do I turn the darned thing on? All I want is to turn the webcam on!

Mar 3, 2013When I turn my Dell Inspiron 7720 on, integrated webcam often does not work. Camera app in Windows 8 shows "there's a problem with a camera", other apps also show error messages or just a black screen.
After several resets the camera may start to work properly till the next reset. The camera is always shown in the Device Manager without errors and in the USBView I see that at least USB descriptors are correct. Moreover, after several disable/enable cycles in device manager the camera may start to work.
I've created two HDD partitions and installed Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8 Pro (both from original ISO files downloaded from MSDN). On clear Win 8 the camera shows the same problem, but on Win 7 it works properly.
There is no camera driver for Inspiron 7720 on the Dell web-site, thus I've used standard Microsoft driver on both Win 7 and Win 8.
I'm still not sure is it a hardware problem, because it is reproduced only with Windows 8. The computer was initially sold with Ubuntu, but Windows 8 is in the list of supported OS.
Camera IDs are: VID = 0C45 (Sonix), PID = 648D, REV = 2206.
