View 9 RepliesI realize that my webcam has tinted purple. i tried to look for any button to change the tint or maybe white balance, but there was none. it wasn't like this at the beginning.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have your good color setting for your monitor? I cant seem to properly calibrate mine....
I could use a color profile too. Laptop is used for internet, photoshop, 3d modelling and watching somemovies.
Is it easy to add RAM and change the HD?
For $1450, is this a good deal? I'd really like an internal Blu-ray drive, but that's not possible. I have a spare SSD I can swap in and I'd buy more RAM off of newegg.

My m15x had hinge issues and my M17x had stuttering issues, so what can I expect from the ENVY 15?
I received my envy 15 yesterday and tried clean install once.
Problem is that the touchpad didn't work if I used any of the old drivers even the one from HDD. Three version, one from HDD, two from the thread.
But with the newest driver [url],'double tap to disable touchpad' doesn't work well.
It can be disabled by double tap but can't be enabled again.
I have to enable the touchpad from the config page.
Actually I want to use the originally version from HDD.
I want to use the feature of designating different functions of three corner.
I have been looking and saving to build a $2000 desktop and then I ran into this beast of a machine the Envy15. Now I will be using it mainly for school whihc is 3d apps, CAD, works, everything and anything I can get my hands one including playing some WoW and the new COD here or there. I mainly work at school so I figured lugging a desktop around wouldnt work.
My question to you all is this Envy really a desktop replacement? How well will it perform with that Radeon 4830 1GB card? Without factoring in my traveling to school, would it be wiser to spend the money on a desktop or the Envy?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been looking at the HP dv5t, and I've noticed that the keyboard primaily comes in that shiny silver color... I don't like it beacuse you get to see finger prints everywhere.is there any way/option for HP to make the keyboard black or not as reflective?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the new, or a new, HP dv7-1240us. THE KEYBOARD COLOR SUCKS! I cannot see the letters or numbers due to the reflectivity of the keys and poor choice of label color. Is there a way to replace this, well I know there is, I need to know where and how to get a hold of a new keyboard assembly for an Onyx colored laptop. Somebody shoulda laid off the wacky weed when coming up with this color scheme for the keyboard.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwe all know the screens on the dv7's with nvidia cards come out of the box looking very washed out. i know the gammas are way too high. does anyone have IDEAL settings which make the screen look it's best? mine seem ok with the tweaks i've done, but the screen still looks so much worse than on my external lcd.
here are my settings:
brightness: 50
digital vibrance: 12
contrast: 57
gamma: 15
i know this is specifically a problem for the nvidia machines, as the dv5 i had for a short time looked fine out of the box with it's intel gma4500.
Does anyone know if this color is available in the US? I have searched for it on Google and yahoo, but I only get availability in Europe and Asia.

A stylish multimedia companion - dressed in Electric Purple. Sony has earlier offered this model, available in Liquorice Black, Cotton White, Caramel Cream, Spicy Red, Coral Pink.
Note that the CS-21Z series is being offered with Blu-ray Disc™ Combo drive, with the exact same specs as the CS-21S.
This model belongs to the "Lifestyle" line of Sony Notebooks, along with the P series. Others are "Mobility", "Multimedia", Vaio Professional" - give and take on terminology depending on the countries.
I came across this Electric Purple in late February 2009, whilst on projects in Hamburg, Germany. I was intrigued by the colour setting, influenced by the passion of my fiancée -thus a must-have present for her cancer fight. A call to a friend in UK led to a surprise learning that it was no so readily available, due to its "colour", and since I needed a UK keyboard (the lady still has issue with the weird German letters ), a wait of 3 weeks was in order to chase down the unit..............
purple lines have started appearing on the monitor as any person who uses a laptop and constantly see a flicker of numerous purple horizontal lines would get annoyed so i
decided to open it up and check the connectors which a friend had recommended me to have a look at though im no technician but i noticed it had a triangular shaped screw i couldnt open because of that so at the moment im clueless what these screws are called?
Have used my txn daily for 2 years.. slow but love the size for portability. Booted up this morning and there's a purple-ish streak going down the right side of the screen. See 2 pics attached. (I've never attached pics so hopefully this will work).
Is this streak a sign the LCD is going bad or the graphics card going bad?
graphics = Intel 945 Express Chipset Family
I started to have a little issue with my LCD..Sometimes when I touch it on the top of the screen( where is webcam) or when I change the angle of the screen, the screen change to this error (greeen color is "error color"):
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Envy15-3000 notebook freezes while starting up. It only makes it to the Starting Windows screen then Microsoft icons stop moving. This has been going on since Tuesday (8/12). I ran checks and the memory and harddrive (quick and full) tests came back positive - i.e. no problems. I finally decided to reformat it yesterday (8/14). It gets all the way through the reformatting process until it wants to start the system for the "first time" (I imagine that this will be the last time it restarts in the recovery process) and still freezes on the Starting Windows screen. If I try to hard shut off and try any other boot up option I can think of (Safe Mode, etc.) it says Recovery Failed and asks me to retry, get details or Save Log. When I retry, it goes back to the freezing. As such, I am now in a seemingly endless loop of retrying the recover to get to the freezing start windows screen.
Â
All I want to do is wipe the hard drive and reload everything. I'm not interested in recovering the old data as I have everything backed up. I got no error messages in my Run it, Memory, etc tests, so I am at a loss as to how to proceed.
Â
I have the original drive recovery/windows 7 DVDs that came with the system.Â
My HP Pavilion g6-1207ev is appearing green and purple lines on the screen. It started out of the blue, they come ang go from time to time but when they appear they remain even after it shuts down or restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNeed to re-install the Dell Webcam Center Software (not the drivers) on my laptop how to i get them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, all the hyperlinks are "PURPLE". Go to google and search for something, and the blue links are gone; they are now "PURPLE". All the links on this page are "PURPLE"! It is so annoying that I'm about to send this computer back. The yellows and greens are intense also.
Go to yahoo.com, and the red in the yahoo looks PINK.
I tried messing around with the color setting in the Nvidia control panel to no avail.
Messing with the contrast doesn't work. Also, I have some pdf files I transfered over from the other computer that I made. All the title for each section were done in a navy blue. Well, those titles on this computer are purple.
Don't get me wrong, I can still see the color blue in some things. The color blue in the "edit, quote, multi-quote, quick reply" on the bottom right of this box is the blue I'm used to having my hyperlinks at. It doesn't matter what web browser I use; it could be firefox, IE, chrome, safari, it just doesn't matter.
my hp webcam. Whenever i open the hp webcam mediasmart software, a window pops up and says that the webcam either isn't connected, or is being used by another program. I've restarted my computer and it's not being used by anything else, but it still says this.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm pretty sure it's in quickplay but have no idea where to access it.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi got an HP Pavillion Artist's Edition laptop (HP Pavillion dv2700) with a built-in webcam, running Vista. even more recently i decided to try to get a program i could use to record my desktop, just for fun. i tried a program called ManyCam (since it was free). however, it didn't seem to work with Youcam, and when i tried using Youcam, that wouldn't work either. ManyCam froze when i tried to select the webcam as the source, and Youcam simply showed a black screen where i should've been able to see myself. in the end i uninstalled Youcam (i also no longer have quickplay because i was sick of it starting every time i accidentally brushed the button).
after searching for a solution i tried downloading and installing a non-HP driver (Chicony--now the driver shows up as Acer Crystal Eye webcam). this didn't help any. i even tried a different program, Debut Video Capture Software. still no luck (when i select "device" as the source i just get a black screen). i've looked everywhere i could think for a solution but have yet to find one. any help would be greatly appreciated. just ask if any additional information is needed.
ok, here's what i did: i uninstalled the chicony driver, as well as ManyCam and the other program i had installed. i also got skype, on a friend's recommendation. i restarted my computer to install updates. the hp webcam driver seemed to be installed and running fine. skype detected my webcam. however i still got no picture, just a blank/black screen. even on msn. i found a torrent of youcam and installed it, but it keeps telling me there's no video device detected. my webcam is turning on, but beyond that it's still not working.
I own an hp dv9260us and I cannot get the webcam to operate.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow can I access the Webcam without going on IM services? There has to be a software for it. I can't seem to locate it!
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone know a workaround for the HP webcams and facebook or other flash applications? I have no problem accessing my webcam through the supplied software, but any online flash software seems to access the camera for a second (light turns blue), then the light turns off and it fails to connect.
View 5 Replies View Relatedon my old laptop, a lenovo, if i wanted to change the settings of the webcam to lets say black and white, or low light mode, all i would have to do was go into the properties and change it ... then for whatever webcam application i used whether it was facebook video, ooVoo, skype, the webcam would be black and white in low light mode.
but with this HP webcam ... everytime i open up a webcam application the HP mediasmart webcam opens up, and then all my settings from the last time are gone. and when i try to leave a facebook video the mediasmart webcam application doesnt even open up.
BASICALLY, what i am asking is... is there any way to save the webcam preferences on this HP webcam so it is the same for whatever application i use ?
i have a weird problem with my webcam , sometimes when i wanna use it , i open youcam it give me that it cant connect to the device so i need to close all applications that use this webcam while i have no softwares running so i have to restart in order to make it work one day i restarted and the same error occured again so i had to restart a second time :s also , to save threads i will ask here a question about my geforce 9600mgt performance it's good with games and i like it , though it was less than expected if u ask me when i play call of duty 5 and there's a scene where there's lots of smoke or fire from the fl;amethrower it the game becomes ridicously slow untill the smoke disappears and i will be able to play smoothly again anyway my question is not about this , i noticed that the performance of the card isn't always the same sometimes it works great and sometimes i notice that games barely run , even less demanding games like nba 2007 for example for example call of duty 4 , sometimes it works incredibly and some other times don't , isn't it weird ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there any free software out there that is better than Quickplay that comes on the notebook? The webcam works okay, but my wife just got a newer version of HP and her Cyberlink Youcam is nice, but not worth 30 bucks. Currently has Vista 32 bit.
