I have the new, or a new, HP dv7-1240us. THE KEYBOARD COLOR SUCKS! I cannot see the letters or numbers due to the reflectivity of the keys and poor choice of label color. Is there a way to replace this, well I know there is, I need to know where and how to get a hold of a new keyboard assembly for an Onyx colored laptop. Somebody shoulda laid off the wacky weed when coming up with this color scheme for the keyboard.
View 3 RepliesI've been looking at the HP dv5t, and I've noticed that the keyboard primaily comes in that shiny silver color... I don't like it beacuse you get to see finger prints everywhere.is there any way/option for HP to make the keyboard black or not as reflective?

I kept the SWsetup from the old vista install on hand, and got all the drivers/software listed on HP's site.
I'm just about done getting everything setup, I only cannot find what package enables the quick play button over the keyboard, and the stop, fwd, back, and stop/pause keys.
I have the media smart stuff installed, the link to the menu comes up, and I have mute, volume onscreen with those touch keys (without any of that clicking noise, a welcome relief).
Got a DV7-1240us, been playing with it for a couple of weeks, have until this monday to obtain another or refund no q's asked.
I love it, but the touchpad ... towards the keyboard side, it appears to be "loose".
What I mean is that it has a bit of give on it if you press your finger down on it, the touchpad itself is not "attached" to any of its sides (you have to look at this model to know what I mean).
I'm thinking it is held on by double sided tape or something, and if I wanted to correct this myself, I could pry it up carefully and retape, but you know how that goes.
so I'm posting here in hopes someone else with this model, or one who knows HP's better than I do can tell me whether or not I can attempt to fix, should attempt to fix, or just get another one (in which I would have to worry about any other issues cropping up, I already returned one last week because the right shift key's scissors failed on me).
i have your good color setting for your monitor? I cant seem to properly calibrate mine....
I could use a color profile too. Laptop is used for internet, photoshop, 3d modelling and watching somemovies.
Once in a while display setting will change from True Color (32 bit) to High Color (16 bit).OS – Windows 7

View 9 Replies View Relatedwe all know the screens on the dv7's with nvidia cards come out of the box looking very washed out. i know the gammas are way too high. does anyone have IDEAL settings which make the screen look it's best? mine seem ok with the tweaks i've done, but the screen still looks so much worse than on my external lcd.
here are my settings:
brightness: 50
digital vibrance: 12
contrast: 57
gamma: 15
i know this is specifically a problem for the nvidia machines, as the dv5 i had for a short time looked fine out of the box with it's intel gma4500.
I tied looking elsewhere seems many people have this issue?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI currently have an AA1 and am curious to those who tried typing on both the HP Mini and the AA1 keyboards and noticed a difference. I believe the HP's keyboard is 92% and the AA1's is 89% I believe. It feels "okay" to type on, obviously not the best due to its size compared to a normal keyboard, but am wondering if the HP's is worth the price jump (paid 300 for mine).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know this is a rather odd question but i'm really weird when it comes to colors and what looks better. I can't decide what fits better on the sony vaio FW between the titanium gray or black.
*Black makes the outside layer of the laptop blend as the top and bottom are black(inside would be silver with black keys).
*Titanium gray has pretty much all that you can see(exluding the bottom of course and keyboards) titanium silverish giving it that blend.

I'm about to buy a Vaio Z CTO from sony style and wondering which color you guys think is best. My initial thoughts were to go with the silver since the black keys seemed to stand out really nicely. Also, my last gen Z was Prem.Carbon Fiber Black, so Silver would be a nice change..

this is my first time posting, and i have a question.
i've heard that later on there will be different color lids for the sxps 13 and 16.
i understand that this is both a studio and an xps, so it makes me wonder if i can have cool designs on the top. i don't know how thats gonna fly with the leather, because black is the only color that i can think of that would go with it.
so heres my question: do you think that dell will release custom, or at least different colors for the sxps? possibly midnight blue, the RED one, white, brown, green. anything. and if you do, when do you think they will release the new options?

Usually when we installs a screen, the icm or icc profiles comes with the driver.
My laptop has an Samsung 15.4 screen ... LTN154X3-L01
Is there any way to get an "color profile" for it?
i will say that "color profile" is useful for 2D graphics,
screens - scanners - digital cameras - software " Photoshop", uses this profiles as an way to preserve and display correctly the color tones on your screen.
someone would have developed an ICC color profile for the AW model that uses the X-Brite Technology Screen. I have the cheaper LCD version and not the high dollar RGB Professional model screen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCertain keys on the keyboard don't work and if they do they will type a couple of random letters. Anyone else have this? It most likely isn't software as they dont work even before I get to windows(recovery command prompt).
Sometimes it will work after so many reboots and BIOS resets, but generally it happens at random times. I already spoke to tech support and am sending it in as the lady I talked to had no idea what the problem and insists it's windows. The onscreen keyboard works fine which is how i typed all of the "P"s and ".
Anything I can do to avoid sending it in, as I really like the laptop aside from the malfunctioning keyboard.
Which layout(input language)should I choose in Windows for this keyboard(currently I am using "US" but its not "exact" for some keys)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got the HP Pavillion DV5-1250us Notebook (bronze finish) which has the classic keyboard problem! You can't read the keys because of the lousy color combination they chose. 90% of the people who bought this notebook ended up getting the keyboard replaced.
My notebook is STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
I read in a lot of places, including Newegg.Com Customer Reviews and across discussion forums - People were able to call in and HP sent them a replacement keyboard FREE of charge; including shipping and all.
When I got on the phone with them today, they are willing to replace the keyboard free of charge & all - but they want me to SEND IN my entire notebook to them! How come they want me to send in the notebook whereas in other instances they sent the owner the replacement keyboard?
I've had Toshiba send me a replacement keyboard in the past; why can't HP do this?
I just noticed today that the "8" key of my notebook's keyboard has gone soft. I has lost that clickiness and the return response is not as tactile as it used to be or as other keys still have. When I press "8", it doesnt even feel like I touched the key. Otherwise, as of now, it is still working. I hope I made clear the issue I am having with the key.
My question:
Is this key about to go bad? Any solution for fixing it? If cleaning is needed, how do I clean it?
I just hope I wont have to replace the whole keyboard for the issue if the key stopped responding altogether.
just bought a HDX16 from bestbuy, there is a plastic strip between the Number key and normal keyboard if i press the strip, the Number keyborad goes up and down also, if i press the Number Keyboard, the same problems for the CD Drive, when the drive comes out, the drive seems not well fixed i can move it left and right, and the HDD is so noisy, compare to my X200 is that normal?
