When I switch the laptop on, I hear the HD spin up and the lights/ buttons for sounds & media can be pressed, but I do no get any output on the screen. No Dell Logo, nothing. I do not see the Hard drive activity light on again after this either. I have tried the hdmi cable as well the indicator light does not indicate it is running.....

I find the volume output to be extremely inadequate. All of my volume are at max. I click the little speaker icon in the taskbar to make sure everything (speakers, system sounds, application sounds) is max and sure it enough...they are.
i just cracked my screen and might replace it if its cheap enough. the back of the screen model is LP154WX7
and i am just wondering if i can just get any screen that was in a 1537 and fit it in or does it need to be the same model again.
My wife picked up a Dell 1537 and has been experiencing blue screen issues. It only happens when the computer is turned on or restarted.
I have checked the event viewer and there is nothing that looks suspicious or outside the norm. I made sure that drivers were updated. I tried running Memtest86 but it closes and starts to load Windows after running for 10 seconds
I have an Acer as5570-2609 aspire laptop that will not boot up. It is like new, hardly been used. When I power it up, the fan comes on for about 3 or 4 seconds, and the hdd light flashes three times in a row, then waits a second or two, the flashes three times again, then goes black. The dvd drive ejects and will spin up a disc, but thats it. I tried swapping in a known good hard drive and nothing helps. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 5423 i3 and recently I started having a problem with which was that on almost every boot the screen would be distorted I.e vertical and horizontal lines would appear rainbow like distorted colours and although anything was barely visible I could make out that the screen ws divided into these four grids like appearance each acting like a separate unit by itself AND along with this the laptop would make 8 beeps on boot until window load screen would appear.
When this problem first started I solved it by holding the laptop screen at an angle then powering it on or sometimes pressing the power button and closing the lid and after I would hear win startup sound I would open it and it would work fine, but now since a day or two ive tried every method amd nothing works...
I have a Dell Inspiron 5521 laptop. it does not boot. No light on screen at all. on power on it makes a loud clicking sound that seems to comes through the speakers. it has seven distinct clicks, a pause and seven clicks a again. I have removed the hard drive and it does the same thing.

It seems as though the max screen resolution I can go to is 1024x768...
Warranty just ran out of course. Now it won't boot up all the way. Can get to user sign-on screen and then it stops.

My Inspiron E1505 will not complete it's boot. It comes up with this error:

F11 shows no recovery, diagnostic test shows no error. Tried F12, checked F2. I am not that tech savvy but can get around to any instructions giving to rectify my issue. I don't have a boot disk, never can with the laptop.
Dell Inspiron 7720 (17R SE) approx 2 years old, just started having problems about a week ago when turning on the computer. LEDs flash and dell quickset buttons light up; but then process just dies, screen is black and only the LEDs by the power symbol and on power buttons are lit, never reaches the Dell logo screen, no fan sounds or anything.
At first, hitting the power button to turn off then back on and the second time the boot process would work. Then it failed to do that, so I had to remove the battery, pull the power cord and hold the power button down for 30 sec's, and then it would boot normal. Now even that does not work, just have to keep powering down and re-powering and after a random number of times, 10-30 it finally boots normal, every once in while it will work first try. It seems to be getting worse.
I have used the Dell Diagnostic on boot (though it took many tries to get into the ePSA, that did not detect any problems. When I use the Dell Support Advanced, no problems detected, and I specifically rand the Motherboard (which included CMOS test) and those did not find any problems.
If I put the computer in sleep, it comes back fine. It is only when I shut down, laptop just will not boot until I hit power on (fail) / power off repeatedly until finally, as if by luck it works fine.
Been working on my laptop all weekend and took an hour break came back and when the laptop tried to boot up got stuck on the dell screen. The screen it is stuck on has the dell emblem in the middle and has inspiron under that and a progress bar that is completely empty. In the bottom left corner is has F2 Setup and below that has F12 Boot Options.
I have tried to turn it on and press F2 all that happens is the F2 becomes highlighted but nothing seems to happen. I can do the same for the F12. I have tried booting it while plugged into wall and when it's not doesn't seem to change anything. I have left it on for a while now and every few minutes the screen goes blank and makes a few clicking noises and a few of the lights on the top corner of bottom part of laptop flash. It then just gets stuck in the same frozen screen.
The laptop has a weeks worth of very important data I need on it....
I just recently purcahsed a Dell Inspiron 1440 Laptop. It was used. Upon power up, it comes to an administrative password screen and will not allow me to boot off DVD or go into CMOS setup. What can I do to eliminate this situation.

Dell suggested that it may be possible with a Displayport to dual DVI cable.....
I haven't ordered the laptop yet so would consider any options that would allow dual digital display.... eg. upgraded graphics card or use of a docking station.
I have a studio xps 16 and whenever I plug it via HDMI to my tv (which has a 1080p resolution) there are black bars all around the image, meaning the image is smaller than the tv. I've set the resolution of the tv (from Catalyst Control Center) to 1920x1080 and it still won't do full screen...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1545 that doesn't boot successfully. It gets to the screen indicating "Starting WIndows" and then just sits there. I tried safe booting but when it should be displaying windows files that are loading, the screen just stays blank. I tried selecting "Repair" boot but the system just blinks and returns to the window that asks me to select Repair or Normal Boot. (If I select Normal Boot, it gets to "Starting Windows" and that's it.
I checked out the hard drive externally and it appears the hardware is functioning normally. I successfully booted with Hiren's Boot CD. I would like to attempt a RECOVERY but can't get beyond the Repair screen.
Since Dell doesn't provide an OS disk with the computer that would allow me to reinstall Windows 7...
My son's laptop has decided to be a jerk and not boot any longer.
It turns on then goes to a gray blue screen. I can get into set up the usual way and have tried other buttons but usually get a warning in regards to the hard drive when we try boot mode.
The laptops key board basically doesn't work either so I use an external one
I am thinking Hard Drive is fried....
I was using my Studio 1537 when it suddenly shut down. I rebooted and the console media lights lit up and it sounded like it was restarting as normal but the screen remained black. I have tried a number of internet: restarting holding F12, restarting holding Fn+F8, removing battery and AC power & holding power key for 30 seconds - 1 minute and then restarting and also holding D while restarting to run screen diagnostics. I can see the coloured screens flash through but none of these ideas have restarted the monitor it remains black.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my Studio 1537 for about a year and once in awhile my laptop screen goesblank after my computer restarts or if I turn my laptop on. This happened to be about 10 times (the first time I spent about 3 days on the phone with a technian) already and I always have to reinstall Windows Vista to get my laptop working again. Today I found out that whenever my computer updates my video drive my screen will go blank, is this normal? What I can do to prevent this from happening again? My screen also goes blank when I install a video driver from the dell CD, but when I uninstalled it in safe mode and restart my laptop my screen is no longer blank.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI fitted a new LCD panel to an Inspiron 3520. Upon boot, it showed the Dell logo, then went all white and then displayed a grid made up of RGB pixels across the screen. I checked the panel was connected properly and the tried to reboot but now the screen doesn't power up at all. The laptop also now plays 4 beeps while trying to boot. I've tried connecting an external monitor, but it also does not display anything an plays the 4 beeps.

The laptop turns on without a problem, and presents me with the Dell loading screen. The loading bar is present, but nothing is actually 'loading'. There are two options in the lower right hand corner, "F2 - Setup" and "F12 Boot Options". If I turn the laptop on and press one of these buttons really quick (within a second), then that option will be highlighted, but nothing more occurs. I've tried this for both F2 and F12.
I've tried:
-Boot Options - fails to load the options screen
-Setup - fails to load the setup screen
-Turning the power off and holding the button down.
-PSA ... Pre-startup Analytics...? Didn't work. Spent 5 minutes tapping F12 once a second.
-All of the above with and without the AC adapter in.
-Taking the battery out (Oi, that was fun.) and plugging it back in.
None of these yielded different results.
Can anyone that has the Sony Vaio Z Series Laptop tell me if the HDMI output on the Z Series outputs 5.1 Dolby Digital surround Sound?
