It has 8 GB DDR, But i need 16 GB. how can i update with 16 GB, I am not able to update in dell site when I customize.
Blue screening regulary over past 3 weeks, albeit in random pattern. Removed recent programs just in case. Just ran dell test and it failed on System Memory - Advanced Pattern Test. Whether blue screen and system memory fail are related.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron e1505 that is a couple of years old. I just bought it from a guy at work and it seems to be working pretty good.
I do a lot of photo editing and while I realize this is not a top machine for this, it works better than what I had. It now has 1G of memory in it and I think that I can up that to 2G max.
What should I be looking for and where is the best place to get it? I would like to buy local, but that may not be the best option as far as price goes.

but when I finished and turn on the power the interesting things happened, the boot progress bar stoped and it was their alll the time

View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend just showed me his new Dell Vostro lappy. He has 4 GB of DDR2 800mhz memory on it when compared to my 4 GB of DDR2 667mhz memory on my XPS 1530
However, under his windows experience score - he gets 5.9 score for memory operations while I just get a 5.1. I can't believe that a couple of hundred mhz can result in such a drastic difference.
Is there something optimized for his system but not for mine?

In a old post i read that the laptop has two memory slots, however, when i replaced the memory only see only one slot. Previusly i cheched the memory compatibility and it's acording to the specs. When i returned to the original memory it works. Why can't i upgrade the memory?

Now, I own a dell Inspiron 1721 and have recently bought 2 gig of ram, just to speed things up a little! However, when I recieved it, it came in two sepeate modules of 1 gig. Not to worry I thought as every website says the Dell Inspiron 1721 has 2 slots. Opening up the back of my laptop, I could only find one slot.

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error message,
and Stop Code: 0x00000050.
Then I did 'system restore', it didn't work.
I tried 'chkdsk' it didn't work
I tried 'System Repair', it didn't work either
I took out the RAMs and re-seated them, it didn't work,
Now its even worse, the PC won't even come on at all.
Every time I start my laptop Inspiron n5110, it goes to the blue error screen where it says 'collecting data for crash dump'. It usually happens in under a minute after starting the laptop. Once the screen shows I have to force restart by pressing the power key for few seconds.

Windows 8 recognizes it and shows the action center flag and advises us to install a new driver.. We install the driver R188776.exe, install it, and re-boot, but the memory card reader still doesn't work.. Is there another driver we can install?

In the Elitebook 8540w, the primary memory slots under the keyboard are clearly labeled "1" and "2" However, the expansion memory slots on the underside of the chassis are also clearly labeled "1" and "2" Opps! I have a question about 4gb of memory on inspirons. I recently put in 4GB's memory in my inspiron (Corsair brand) and I am running XP(x86) aka 32bit. Windows sees 3.25gb's which is exactly correct.
Awhile back I read that the inspiron motherboard which is an intel, will not run the memory in Dual Channel mode, which will slow the memory down about 3-5%. However I am not sure of how true or not this is. I put the memory and checked my bios and its showing all 4GB's and "Dual Channel" enabled.
So the question is how real is this dual channel concern if the bios is saying its in dual channel mode? PS we are both running the latest bios A17.
I have a Inspiron 15 3537 laptop and I noticed that I can hear a high pitched noise where the Memory/hard drive are located. That noise is louder when I put the battery mode on "battery saving", but I still can hear that noise when the battery mode is set to other mode than that. Please note that I switched my hard drive with a SSD, because I thought that it come from here.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my Dell laptop. I got a virus , and i don't even know what did it do. When i start my laptop it loads like it was before( it says big DELL and Inspiron,then progress bar and F2 Setup and F12 Boot options). After that loads i see this thing flashing _ . And then red text comes up and says something like " Your laptop was blocked because bla bla bla" and after that red text this thing _ flashing. Keyboard is blocked, nothing happens when i try to connect USB or my mouse. The only thing i can do on my laptop now is press F2 or F12 while Dell loads, before that red thing.
How do i restore my system, what disks do i use?
I am having a problem on my Inspiron 17R SE. I accidentally wiped out the mSATA partition with Disk Management. After trying to recover the partition(failed), I am thinking maybe I could re-format the mSATA SSD and reinstall Windows on it. I have not shut down the laptop and I have backed up all my files. View 7 Replies View RelatedAlright I am a long time user of Dell products, and have in the past had problems with them, but they have been easily fixable by either replacement parts or a quick look at a FAQ or messageboard for Info. My INSPIRON 1501 is not recognizing my battery. The battery is fine (checked it in my brothers computer), and I have checked other people's posts with the same problem and tried the fixes but nothing worked. I have tried to do the BIOS update (A16) that worked probperly but did not fix the problem.
While watching a movie I got a message telling me that my battery is not recognized. The battery is stuck at a 97% charge (or so the computer says) and the battery light is not light up (it flashes on sporadically but not consistant at all). The BIOS did fix the message at startup saying the battery isn't recognized but still if I remove the AC power cord or unplug the computer it powers right down and will not start-up unless plugged in.
