View 7 RepliesI have a dell 5010 and it went black screen as I was using it. I powered it down by holding the power button and then tried to rebot. The laptop power led goes on, the hard drive led flickers once and the fan goes on but slow. The screen stays black and the laptop does not booth. It then sometimes bleeps times over and over. Is it dead? How can I fix this or at least recover the data in the hard drive?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI own an Inspiron N4010 14R dell laptop. When I restarted my laptop yesterday, i couldn't boot into windows and windows logo was rotating forever. So I thought OS was curropted and tried to reinstall OS. But it also didn't work. I couldn't able to install OS. But I could able to delete a partition and refresh it.
Then I ran a diagnosis on my computer and it showed an error code 2000-0146. (saying HDD needs to be replaced)
I called Dell support center and asked them about the issue. They said my hdd nedds to be replaced. So I bought a new 2.5" SATA seagate hard drive and installed it in the system.
But even after that, the same problem exists. But this time Diagnostic doesn't show any error. My warranty period is void.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was on a friend's brand-new inspiron 1525 today. After I began using it, I immediately noticed just how awful the touchpad is.
It is extremely inprecise. It's almost as if the sensitivity is constantly changing as I use the touchpad. I don't remember if I tried adjusting the settings; if I did, it didn't help.
I soon discovered that if you move your finger in a perfectly straight horizontal motion across the touchpad (no vertical motion), the cursor, as it's moving across the screen, will also 'bounce" up and down, getting worse towards the right side of the tochpad.
It doesn't abruptly jump at all; rather, it's as if the linearity of the touchpad is WAY off.
I have a weird issue which I did not realize until my system was crashed.
I have Inspiron 1525 purchased in sep 2008. Order and original configuration is showing XP whereas recovery CD alongwith was Vista (my mistake was that I did not check the CD until now).
1.Now how should I reimage my laptop with XP?
2.Where to find the OS Key for XP? Will Vista key work for XP or is there anyway I install vista and upgrade to XP?
There is no mail id where I could forward the mail of purchase order and original config details.
i have got no sound while i m browsing my drives or files in my vista ultimate operating system. i did re-apply theme, sound everything. but nothing worked out. now i have set Ultimate Extras Glass sound sceme, but still i can't hear any sound while i m clicking the drive or opening folders. everything else is perfectly normal.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop INSPIRON 17 (3721) has problems to start and makes 5 beeps. I saw in other forum that it is a matter of the coin battery. I have already changed it and it is still doing the same. It doesn't show video, there's no fan noise but the power led is on. After about 5 minutes the fan starts.

I have a DELL Inspiron 15z 5523 which intermittently make a repeated series of 5 loud beeps. The support site seems to suggest a problem with the CMOS/Bios coin cell battery. So I presume I need to replace this. Does this sound right?
I have the user manual that shows how to replace this battery (after taking everything apart!) which looks do-able. But I can't find out what kind of coin cell battery I need to buy for replacement.
make or knows a link so i can download an bootable XP disc for it.. I can't make one because the laptop has too many viruses, like i cant even open AVG or install nlite =[... Please Help[the disc so u can reinstall xp on the laptop]
View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Lenovo G500 and I am wandering why do they not package a CD/DVD for the Windows 8 OS. I am thinking on downgrade it to Win7, but I am finding problems with GPT partitions.
I could erase all partitions and reformat it, but then I would loose the recovery partition and all possibility of reinstall Win8.
How could I extract this Win8 and get it into a DVD? [URL]
I had a folder on my desktop and yesterday it disappeared. I also had some files in a folder "untitled folder" with some numbers after the "untitled folder" and, although I was able to save files to it, I can't find it on the hard drive.
I've had my Mac for a few months (and love it) but there are still so many things that I haven't figured out. On Windows you can "restore" the computer to a former date and have things just the way they were on that date.
Is that possible with OSX? It's not a disaster. Nothing critical lost (I hope) but I'm wondering what happened and what I might have done to "lose" those folders.
I have a SSD/HDD setup in my 13" MBP, 60GB and 500GB respectively, that being said, I want to make the link to "Movies, Torrent, and Applications" go there.
For Torrent and Applications it's easy, move the folders, delete the original, set an alias in the home folder. Done. (My application folder is for storing Games, and other Apps that are either OSX or WIndows apps, not the actual App folder that OSX uses for programs.)
Anyways, I create a Movies folder on my other HDD, and go to delete the old Movies folder on the SSD/OSX Drive, and OSX tells me, "You cannot delete because this folder is required by OSX."
OK, but how do I get it to link to the new drive?
In Win 7 I remember just opening properties, and clicking 'set target folder' and bam it's done. I did this a lot back then.
ALSO, If I UNMOUNT my second HDD, does it 'shut off' and 'stop consuming power'?
I realised I can re-mount it in Disk Utilities, and probably with a Unix command.
I just wanna save power when I'm mobile, by not having to use the spinner.
I'm just curious if Mac OS X has anything similar to the Temp folder found in Windows?
Particularly during program installs, does the OS extra temp files somewhere in the HD?
Aside from the browser history and temporary files (which I can clear within the browser), are there anything else that I need to clear every now and then?
Can I import a bunch of songs from different folders instead of having to drag and drop each individual music file? Like drag and drop the entire music folder into iTunes instead of having to go into each individual artist's folder and dragging and dropping?
Also, is it possible to clear all registered machines to an account? I just went through my third computer and forgot to de-authorize (un-authorize?) my account, again again.
I don't get it. I try to move one file into a folder and it says it can't be modified.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to reinstall xp on my Dell Inspiron 6400. I don't have any recovery disc or what so ever, only windows xp disc.
The weird thing is that the laptop won't boot from anything but the HD. To format the drive i had it connected externaly to other computer then formatted it from there. I tried using boot selector menu (F12) and selecting cd-rom - nothing happanes.
Also tried booting from bootable usb drive with xp installation on it - nothing happens. Also tried changing boot sequence in BIOS - no affect.
I thought my disc maybe is bad - but i checked in other laptop and it boots great, both from my disc and from my usb flash drive. How to make it boot? Tried resetting the bios to its default.
Also, I thought maybe its sata drivers issues which needs to be slipstreamed onto the windows xp installation - but i hardly think that's it, cause this laptop doesn't even have an option for AHCI mode.

My laptop was installing updates (not sure which updates) when the battery suddenly died. I charged it and ever since every time I turn it on, it gives me an error message and I'm unable to log into my system
error message is: BAD_SYS-CONF_INFO
I've tried accessing the BIOS with F2 button upon start up many times to check the settings but no luck. Pressing F2 constantly right when the Dell logo appears does absolutely nothing. get back into Windows without reinstalling and losing everything
If kindly help a brother out. I just bought a Studio 1537 for my lady and i was unable to install windows 7 64 bit RC. It's saying
"the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (bit) or x64 (bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
My ageing XPS M1710 seems to be having an issue since upgrading it to Windows 8. With Windows 8, it's runs lovely, a lot quicker than other OS's, but recently the graphics card seems to be having problems.
I was unable to find a Win 8 driver for the 7950 GTX so I'm using the Nvidia 179.48 Win 7 64bit driver, in order to get the full 1920 resolution. However I seem to keep getting a problem where I get zig zag lines across the screen, sometimes blacks out and comes back with a warning that the Nvidia Vista driver stopped work and recovered.I've read various posts talking about adjusting power save options, underclocking and heat. Also noticed a post that it's more common on 64bit systems than 32 so I'm tempted to rebuild it with 32bit media rather than the 64 I could only get my hands on at the time.
