Dell Inspiron 7520SE :: How To Check If Laptop Supports MSATA
Mar 9, 2013
I have Dell inspiron 7520SE  laptop which has two configurations with mSATA connection and preinstalled mSATA card and without mSATA connection. Mine is without preinstalled mSATA card, but I found in bios
mSATA Device : [Not detected]
So does that mean my laptop supports mSATA (but it is empty) or this is just some error, and is there a way to check if my laptop has support for mSATA withou pulling it apart ?
I'm thinking about changing my HDD, since it's a 4200rpm 200GB.
I was thinking about getting a Samsung SATAII 7200rpm( storage doesn't matter that much, I already own an external device, as long as it's not less than my current HDD ).
But I was told that my Vaio model, VGN FZ140E, doesn't support SATAII. So I'd have to choose a SATA 5400rpm HDD.
I'd like to ask you how can I check it this is true. If so, would changing my HDD be a noticeable upgrade?
Also, among these brands, which one would you choose( for better performance, low noise, low energy comsumption etc. ): Samsung, WD or Seagate?
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R (5520, Mid 2012) and I would like to get faster storage. Can this laptop support a mSATA drive? I have read different answers and I am confused if mSATA SSDs are supported or not. mSATA is not mentioned at all in most of the Inspiron 15R 5520 manuals. However, the "Inspiron 15R 5520 Specifications (Accessibility Compliant)" at ftp.dell.com/.../inspiron-15r-5520_Reference%20Guide2_en-us.pdf says this:
mSATA (optional)one mSATA port that supports up to 32 GB (Inspiron 14R-5420/7420)one mSATA port that supports up to 32 GB (Inspiron 15R-5520/7520) 32 GB seems very small. Is there a reason why I couldn't use one of the larger mSATA devices on the market, such as the 128GB or 256GB mSATA devices?
My Precision 4300 and Latitude D830 both had a modular bay that supported these batteries. They are extremely useful, as they're hot swappable and provide a boatload more power. I have 4 of them and can have power through any plane trip.
Looking at the models that Dell sells now, I can't seem to find any that would support modular batteries. It seems there is still a modular bay but no battery that would fit it.
Has Dell gone completely insane? That was the #1 feature that kept me with Dells all these years. Does anyone know anything about why they're not and if they will be supported again?
I have inspiron 5520 with 2 gb RAM. I would like to upgrade RAM as it is loads of time to do multitasking. I tried to search to RAM with service tag but it not get any results on dell hardware purchase website. which RAM should I install and what is the maximum capacity of RAM it supports.
I was wondering how can i check battery health on my SZ4?
On my other laptop (IBM T42) there is a factory utility, it shows date of manufacturing of this particalar battery, how many times it was recharged, full factory capacity, and current battery capacity. I cannot find this information on my Vaio laptop.
I am having a problem on my Inspiron 17R SE. I accidentally wiped out the mSATA partition with Disk Management. After trying to recover the partition(failed), I am thinking maybe I could re-format the mSATA SSD and reinstall Windows on it. I have not shut down the laptop and I have backed up all my files. What can I do next?
I just bought an ultrabook dell inspiron 14z with msata 32 GO cache + 500 GO hard drive. But I would change my mSata 32 go cache by another mSata 60 GO. I would like this disk doesn't work in cache but like a real SSD with Windows on it.
How can i disassembly the laptop ? I'm stuck with a part near USB port on the left.
I know i can use the intesl caching stuff, but i dont want to!!
Intel® Smart Response Technology: This technology utilizes the speed advantage of SSD in caching where the frequently used information is stored on the SSD instead of the Hard drive.
Intel® Rapid Start Technology: This technology enables the system to boot back with-in seconds after getting into hibernation.
What i am looking to do is, put a 128GB mSATA SSD drive in the slot, fire windows into in and use this as my OS & APPS drive, (Drive C:), and then use the existing drive, the 1TB mechanical drive as the storage drive (Drive D:).Â
The dell site, say i can not use an MSATA SSD to boot with...i see no reason why!?
Also, i cant find the spec of the mSATA...dont know whether its SATA 3 or SATA 2.
According to [URL] ..., Dell M4300 laptop bought several years ago might include Flash Cache Module. Dell BIOS allows to enable FCM. Is there a way to check whether the module is actually installed w/o physically opening up the laptop? What part number or name might it have in System Configuration on Dell Support web-site? It shows that the laptop was shipped with 200GB SATA HDD (part no WT611 - [URL] ...., but there are no components listed with "FCM" or "flash" in their names.
Just received my brand new, shiny, sparkling dv6t Quad Ed. laptop. I would like to make sure that everything is right with it in the 21 days window otherwise return the machine for a replacement.
- What all should I check/test and how, to make sure nothing's wrong with it?
- What are some of the recurring, common issues I should check for?
- How can I stress test this laptop apart from wPrime? I dont have any games.
I would like to add a mSATA card to my system to be able to use IRST.
I am skeptic because I have read online that systems which were not shipped with 32 GB mSATA card, doesn't have mSATA port for later installation.
When I purchased the system at that time dell had the option for adding 32 GB mSATA card in the customization section, but now dell has removed the whole customization section from the website. And in the pre-configured models, there is no option for mSATA card.
I bought Dell Inspiron n5520 i7 laptop a few days ago and downloaded and installed drivers by entering my service tag. Everything is working fine. But, I can't check my GPU temperature on HWmonitor. I can only see temperature of Intel(R) HD graphics 4000 but, Â its not detecting AMD 7670M....
I have a Installed Windows 8 on my Dell Inpiron N5110 Laptop. It was working fine but since last 3 or 4days it is having some issue. Each time when i start my PC it shows me an error with blue screen which has written
KERNEL-SECURITy_CHECK_FAILURE
at last line of Error.
I tried Re Installing Windows 8 but still the same issue. Also tried Installing Windows 7 but When Windows 7 Installation Finishes the System Restarts and Shows a blue Purple (Dark Blue) saying Your System BIOS is not ACPI Compliant.
I have tried Installing Windows 7 and Windows 8 several time but still the issue persists.
I have an Inspiron 1525 with windows 7. I use system mechanic 11.7 for PC clean up. Every time I started the computer I was getting multiple hard drive errors and had to run deep clean followed by scan check. I thought I had a faulty hard drive so I bought a new one and completely reloaded my OS.
I've just bought a refurbished SXPS 1340 from a 3rd party retailer (www.ndc.co.uk). So far I'm very happy with it- yeah, it gets a little hot, but that just means my thighs are kept warm.
My question is to do with the touchpad- I've just downloaded the Synaptics drivers from the Dell support website, and have got the whole "pinch zoom" "look at me, I'm an iPhone" thing going on; however, I'm getting nothing from circular scrolling.
I can't find any reference in the stuff I got with it to say whether the 1340 actually supports this feature, or if I'm just making a mess of it.
I have been anxiously awaiting the X240 as a possible upgrade to my Thinkpad collection. It turns out the X240 supports only 8GB of RAM with but 1 DIMM slot. The X230 supports 16GB with 2 DIMM slots. Â No, I am not going to buy one. What is up with this decision, Lenovo?
