Dell :: Vista Booting Up Delayed In Studio1557

Feb 16, 2010

My machine came along with windows7 home premium which i don't like. so once i received it i installed my vista ultimate 64bit (no SP). then i updated it to sp2. but the annoying thing what i noticed is booting time.

Once the Dell logo disappears i can see couple of blinking on the top left corner then screen goes off and should pop up booting, but it goes off and stays like that for 30secs then starts booting process. it's annoying. i tried many way to sort it out. in BIOS Quickbooting option is enable.

Dell :: XPS M1530... Dual Booting Vista And Windows 7

May 26, 2009

I want to dual boot the new Win 7 RC with the default Windows Vista OS already on the M1530.

My issues lie in not being able to make a 5th partition on the HDD for Win7 to go onto. Is there any way to keep my computer intact the it is and get Win7 on the HDD?

Before I deleted the Media Direct Partition but thats a horrible idea... just wondering if it would be possible without keeping another 2.5" HDD around just to have Win 7 sit on.

I'm entirely sure on the specs but I do know its Core 2 Duo, ATI Gfx card, 3gb ram, 25gb hdd, and the usual.

Basically the laptop powers on ok however during the booting up stage the laptop pretty much stops just before windows is supposed to load up where the screen is black with the mouse cursor available which can be moved however from then on it doesn't do anything.

Dell :: Vostro 1700 Vista Booting To Black Screen

Dec 5, 2009

I've a wee problem here and I'm not sure if there's anything else that I can do with it. It's a Vostro 1700 and it passes POST fine.

Vista starts loading as evidenced by the scrolling bar, but then instead of going to a logon screen,

I just get a black screen with a moveable mouse pointer, nothing else. Hard disk activity comes to a halt.

HP/Compaq :: QuickPlay Without Booting Vista

Jan 10, 2009

I just got my new DV4t yesterday with a blu ray drive and it's pretty awesome. However, I was hoping I could use the quickplay function so I could use less battery life and use my CPU's power only for watching blu rays without vista wasting resources in the background. But it always boots straight into Windows first and then loads quickplay second.

Dell :: Optical Driver Problem In My 2days Old Studio1557

Feb 17, 2010

ever since i received this machine Studio1557(WINDOWS7 Home Premium; Core i7 1.6gHz, 512 ATI, 320GB HDD, 4 GB Ram) i m getting different sort of problem. i received it couple of days ago. as soon as i received it, i did install my own operating system which was Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit and made 2other partition to install Windows7 ultimate as well. anyways, as i have installed vista ultimate without any service pack, then i spent 4/5hrs to get to SP2 with all the update, but i have found that machine takes much time to load the boot screen. i don't know why that hell was happening. after the dell logo it used to take 30seconds to pop up booting screen. however, then i lost my curiosity for vista. so again i did format the whole HDD and installed WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64bit. today i left my machine on and once came back found that OPTICAL DRIVE doesn't work. once the CD/DVD being inserted, it tries to spin but get stuckked. tomorrow morning i have to call DELL.

i had another issue with this Optical Drive. i have got magic iso to burn the iso image, but magic iso can't recognise any disk inserted after being inserted CD/DVD. this is strange, where my room mate's machine has got magic iso and windows 7 64bit and he can burn any iso file without any problem. so i don't know what's wrong going on with my machine. can some1 explain me plz? was the optical drive faulty itself??? if yes then how come my nero and power iso works with it...

HP/Compaq :: HP DV4T Not Booting Vista After BIOS Update F.24

It was completed successfully using the winflash, but the computer restarted it just stays at a black screen, and wont go any further. (I hope bios is not corrupted.)

The computer is on but its not booting the operating system.

Is there any way I can revert to the old bios?

Also is there any key combination that can get it to load BIOS from a USB flash drive?

Dell :: Area-51 Alienware Desktop Delayed

Feb 11, 2010

So I ordered my Alienware Area-51 with a bunch of upgrades totaling at something like $5000 on January 22nd. It has been in the "In Production" stage for a while and today they sent me an email saying the delivery date was changed to February 23rd. It was initially supposed to be shipped by February 16th.

So I'm wondering if "In Production" means they have actually started building the computer, or if there is a chance they are still processing payment information. Is there any chance they haven't confirmed the payment at this point, I would consider canceling the order.

Secondly, when Dell gives you a delayed ETA, how often do they delay the system from arriving further? I'm worried that a week and a half from now I will get another email saying I won't be getting my system until March.

Dell :: XPS M1530: How To Upgrade Vista Premium To Vista Business + HD Change

Jan 11, 2009

Firstly I apologize if this has been asked earlier, but I couldn't find an answer to my question. I have a 1530 on order. The OS will be Vista Premium x86. There are 2 things I need to do-

1. Upgrade the HD from a 5400 to a 7200, I have the HD.

2. Install Windows Vista Business - I have an original retail version, and I absolutely need this.

I have the Vista Business Retail DVD. What I want to do is have Windows and the dell partitions configured exactly as they came with the original computer, only with Vista Business, and on the new hard disk. I don't want to alter Media Direct, or delete the restoration partition. Everything should be the same except the Windows Versio

Acer :: Delete Vista Partitions, Format Hard Drive, Reinstall Vista ...

Feb 21, 2009

Background:

A few days ago i bought an Acer 7730 laptop with Windows Vista pre-installed and no disks. After initial hesitation i have decided to keep vista and not downgrade to XP. After all there will be more service packs and tweaking should speed it up lots anyway.

However, i really want to get rid of the three partitions on the hard drive. There is only one physical hard drive but there are three partitions; a hidden 10GB one (EISA configuration) which from what i have gathered is now obsolete, a C: partition 111.44GB and a D: partition 111.44GB. There is no need to split a drive into several partitions now that we have the NTFS file system (unless you are using multiple operating systems of course - but i am not) so this is really annoying me.

I have made the 2 recovery DVD and the 1 applications/drivers DVD. I have an old WinXP disk that i can use to format the laptop if required.

Question:

Using the recovery disks (which i'm assuming contain a copy of my bought OEM Vista that was pre-installed on the laptop), can i delete the partitions, format the hard drive and install Vista onto a single c: partition?

I've done this exact process before with WinXP hundreds of times but i'm not sure whether i can do the same for Vista with just the 3 DVD mentioned...

Dell XPS 17 :: Booting From Drivers CD

Apr 7, 2013

Trying to update USB3 driver via various options following re-install of OS (another story/issue) - tried via the drivers CD but couldn't see what I was looking for. Back to Dell website and downloaded and 'installed' what was hopefully the right one. Re-booted, but aagh forgot to take the CD out of the drive! And the laptop entered lots of stuff via the command prompt screen and has come to a halt with a message:

A RAM DISK drive is available for this boot cycle as C.It contains several Hard Drive setup tools. Please use these tools only under the direction of Dell Support Staff. I understand the bit about Dell Support Staff, but hoped I could just exit in the normal way (exit>enter). Having said that, I don't know many command prompt entries... It's the full screen, not a command prompt window.Dell XPS 17 win7 x64.

Dell :: XPS M2010 Not Booting, No Video

Jul 25, 2008

When I press the power button, the led's around the power button will light up and stay on for a few seconds then shut off. The power led on the left side remains lit as does the BT light. If I leave it set for a while, the BT light begins to flash but thats all I get - no diag code or anything. I have already tried removing/disconnecting everything I can think of (HDD, DVD, wireless, modem, BT card, memory, video card even) just to see if I could make it give me a diag code (I know - thats getting desparate). The only one that made it give me a code instead of turning off was removing the memory completely - it gave me the "no memory" code obviously (mute light was solid, vol up and down were flashing steady). But if I put known good memory in it, it doesn't work and if I put its memory in a known good laptop I have no probs. So I went ahead and bought a new motherboard and that didn't fix it (oops). Then I found this site.

Dell Latitude 10 :: Tablet Is Not Booting To USB

Jan 29, 2013

I recently received my Dell Latitude 10 Tablet. I have created a USB install of Windows 8 Pro. The tablet cannot boot to USB. I have tried multiple USB drives and have verified the drives will boot on my Latitude laptop. I have verified USB boot is enabled in the BIOS. When pressing f12 for boot options USB is not an option. When entering the BIOS setup it is not listed as a boot device either. Clicking add boot device does not show it either. I've tried using the USB port on the table and the USB ports on the productivity dock. I have also tried creating the install on a SD card, that does not show as an available boot device either. The bios has been upgraded to A03 and I'm running version 9.14.3.1099,  A04 of the clovertrail chipset.
