I have a vostro 3560, and turn it on after passing the initial checkup gives me a beep followed by silence and again on beep, no video signal gives and does nothing. which could be wrong with this machine ?.
The beep error code is only 1 continuous beep with the same time separation between the two beep, while not turn off the machine, the same sequence is repeated beep.
OS: Windows XP SP3
I had two 512MB 2Rx16 PC2-5300S-55-12 sticks of ram in my laptop.
I purchased 2 x 2GB 200PIN DDR2 SODIMM 256MX64 sticks to install.
When i put in the new sticks I get 2 short beeps and it doesn't finish booting the the OS.
Am I doing something wrong? I know that the OS will only recognize 3Gb but it should at least boot right?

I have a brand new Dell Vostro 3560.CPU fan has been working constantly, even when the CPU is very low. The noise is awful! There is no software installed only new win7, latest DELL bios A13 and all latest drivers (chipset, video card, etc).I have performed and CPU fan disgnostic (reboot->F12 ->Disgnostic) it is passed. CPU FAN speed is reported 4600RPM.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have 10+ years experience, but I cant resolve this bug. I have a 3560 Vostro, new running win7. It has never went to sleep or hibernate properly. I have set it to go to sleep after 10 minutes and hibernate after 120 minutes, neither work as I wake up the next morning to find the laptop still running. ALSO I set the power button to "hibernate" and when pressing that it takes me to the log into windows screen. It seems like the computer goes to hibernate and IMMEDIATELY wakes up to the login screen.
Is there a program or setting that is preventing the PC from sleep/hibernation?
Update utility doesn't seem to support that "-writehdrfile" parameter.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI think there are many others' complains about the fan noise. When in a quiet night the fan's suddenly noise really hurts me. Finally I noticed that it is the PCH diode that trigger the fan. when the temperature of PCH goes over 65 C, the fan starts running at full speed while CPU is around 50 C and lower. So will the next bios solve this problem? just make fan starting running at 65 C or lower with a very slow rpm to just cool down the PCH, rather than a instant full speed running at 70C. And I also want to ask that why the PCH is so hot, there is no any cooling part on it?
I also have to complain the HDD overheating. 42-45C is a normal temperature now while my 5 years old Inspiron 1520 is normally 35-37 C. the place for the HDD is not perfect. It avoids the feeling of vibration when putting HDD down your wrist, but the CPU heat around it becomes a new problem. I think it is unsolvable. And the workmanship of DELL is getting worse, since my new Vostro 3560 has many small flaws...
I bought a Vostro 3560 without the 32GB mSATA caching option. I found out that I need a new daughter card 82PYC in order to get the mSATA port available for my Vostro configuration, because the connector is not available if bought without the mSATA caching option. The question is, is only caching with the mSATA port/drive possible or can I buy a larger mSATA drive (say 128GB) and use it as ssd boot drive ?

The fingerprint reader stops working, after reinstalling the touchpad and fingerprint reader sometimes the reader starts working again (i.e its detected and I can login to windows by swiping my finger). It says the fingerprint reader is not found (on the Windows Login Screen) and the icon in the DP Fingerprint Software has an x in a red circle.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently went to turn on my computer, Dell's Inspiron M5010, today and was surprised to hear it beeping. After I got out from behind cover, i logged onto another computer in the house. Counting 7 short beeps, I have come to learn that there must be an issue with with either the processor or the motherboard. This is the point where I am at currently. I would like to know the next step to take from this point, whether buying a simple new part would do the trick, or if it is time to turn it into a scrap heap and get something new. I suppose there could be some further testing whether it is either the processor or the motherboard with the issue.

Issue Reoccurred again--again i am getting 7 beep codes. When I checked the motherboard part no and it is the same motherboard which have replaced for this issue. As I informed earlier that the motherboard which was installed for the INSPIRON M5010 have bump cracks around the solder on AMD chip resulting in no post with 7 beep code. The onsite tech replaced the motherboard and it was working fine for 2 weeks and again I am getting the 7 beep code. I am dell customer for past one decade and I owned so many Inspiron and xps laptop but this laptop is giving me trouble. If I get HDD error or any other part failure I would say yes it is due to usage and I would pay for the parts but if I get issue due to manufacture defects than dell should find solution to fix it. How come I am getting same issue even after part replacement within 2 weeks? I would request you to take required action to come out with solution. I am ok with refurbished motherboard but it should not be the same Class or type of part as it is resulting into same 7 beep code. There are 2 types of motherboard in M501R---AMD(tm) RS880M/SB820. And I got my laptop replaced with the same part RS880M which has known issue. My computer <edited for TOU violation> . I believe dell should fix this issue for me as it is known issue with these models.

My display port does not output. External screen just says <No video signal>
The Nvidia control panel can also not see any other monitors.
I have tried this with multiple displays. I have updated to the latest drivers for everything including Nvidia.I ran the scan system for driver updates utility from Dell.
How do I get the display port to start outputting. Is there some special driver that is needed?
My Inspiron 5421 won't start. I can hear the drive start and after a few seconds I get a 4-beep code (RAM read/write failure). The warranty expired about 6 months ago.

When I try to connect my laptop to an Acer monitor with an HDMI cable, it gives me a no signal error. But when the same laptop is connected to a Philips monitor using the same cable, it works perfectly. As usual I thought that the monitor was the culprit, but when I connected another laptop to the Acer monitor using the same cable it worked without any errors. So where does the problem lie. The HDMI cable is OK, the laptop is also OK as also the Acer monitor?

This started happening after I placed and removed the Admin, System and HDD passwords in Dells BIOS setup. I cannot say if this is the cause, but it is when I 1st experienced the beeps.
My "W" key is behaving erratic, from not working @ all some time to constantly appearing on screen as if I pressed it (e.g in a DOS prompt window without typing anything "w"s would recurringly appear, and also inbetween text as I type).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am upgrading my 4 GB (2 x 2GB) ram at present to 6 GB replacing one of the 2 GB one by Kingston made for dell 4 GB memory. I tried all possible combination but it keeps on giving the 4 beep error code on startup and the screen is completely black.
I also got the ram replaced for it might be faulty but no luck.
I purchased another Dell product in 2012 but use it so infrequently it's still relatively new in usage terms.

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 which sometimes ,doesn’t want to boot.
I was using Windows 7,I have changed it to XP ,and it’s happening the same thing.
If I want to restart it , I’m getting a black screen(without any beep) , and when I'm turning it on ,I must press 20-60 times on power button and maybe it will work.
In the same time ,I can keep it on,3 4 days ,without any problem.
I discovered that, when I want to turn it on (forced),if I press hard in the middle of the keyboard ,around keys "y /u/i/k/j/h" ,I hear a small sound, and after this its booting.
My tv tuner INTEX IT-TV 150 FM plays only audio. The screen turns totaly white with no video signal. When calling the supporting staff at INTEX, they told me to install HP Pavilion dv4 video driver. Could this be the solution? If so, where could I find the video driver?

I figured it was just Vista been more sluggish than usual.
So I decided I'd back it up, wipe it and install my new copy of Windows 7 RTM.
After booting from the DVD, setup stopped halfway through giving me this '0x00000e9' error code.
I subsequently ran the dell diagnostics.
Which gave me this :
Hard Drive - DST
Test Results : Fail
Error code 2000-0142
Msg : hard drive 1 - Self test unsuccessful.
Status : 70
My dell Vsotro 3360 will no longer boot up. It gives a 2 beep error on start up and nothering comes on the screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a major issue with my Dell XPS L702x laptop at the moment, in that it cannot boot up at all, rendering it completely unusable.
When this first happened, the laptop used to progress through the dell screen, the 'starting windows' screen, and then just hang at a blank screen, or with a blank screen with the windows 7 background and a mouse cursor. This happened in both normal startup and attempting safe mode.
I have tried starting in best last known configuration, resetting the bios to default settings. I eventually got startup repair to work, but it didn't do anything, nor did system restore.
I run diagnostics, and receive this error right at the beginning of the test:
ERROR CODE 0146.
Msg: Error Code 2000-0146
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - self test log contains previous error(s).
I continue the diagnostics and everything else passes okay.
However, now when I try to boot my PC up in normal or in safe mode, I get past the dell and windows startup screen and instead of the hang I simply get a blue screen error:
BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO.
STOP: 0x00000074
I have also had the blue screen errors c000021a, and 0xc0000221. But primarily am now getting the bad_system_config_info every time.
Fan on Inspiron 1520 not coming on. Diagnostics gave error code "3700:011B". Took fan out (it wasn't even dirty) and jumpered red & black wires (p.s. don't know what yellow wire is for) to a 5 volt dc power source - fan worked fine. Put laptop all back together - fan still not coming on...

I don't think Windows XP detected the CD-ROM right since it gives a code 10 error and can't start. I basicaly need help so I can make my CD-ROM work

My notebook is the Sony PCG-R505ESP.
I got Vaio FZ190 with faulty Nvidia chip, then i had my motherboard replaced. The problem is i cannot restore my C: drive using DVD i made. So, i tried hidden partition by press F10 and is also not working. Here is the code i got while i was trying to do so,
"Cannot use this recovery disc for this computer. Confirm the model number"
when I click Ok, this message appears
"error: CompareSnyIniToPacIni, Error: 92"
Then I click OK and it drops me back to the Vaio recovery centre and this cycle will happen again when I repeat to restore drive c.
Both DVD and hidden partition was working just fine before i had my motherboard replaced. I search all thread and find out that system recovery will check my BIOS before it can restroe my C: drive so i try to reset BIOS setting by pressing F9 in BIOS setting and it's still not working. Now, i can use my vaio just fine but i can't restore my C: drive.
