View 7 RepliesI have purchased a new laptop (Vostro 3560) with Windows 8 64 Bit. The fingerprint reader stops working, after reinstalling the touchpad and fingerprint reader sometimes the reader starts working again (i.e its detected and I can login to windows by swiping my finger). It says the fingerprint reader is not found (on the Windows Login Screen) and the icon in the DP Fingerprint Software has an x in a red circle.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 8 on my Vostro 3560 and even installing the new driver for Win8 video card AMD HD 7670 Randeon the note presents several bugs this board, such as:* apps made for Win8 (with technology underground) not roam well with AMD board, where they are fighting or simply leave the slow note.* The computer now does not go into an idle state automatically after the time set in the Power Options, due to various errors that prevent this driver please note the suspended state.* The fingerprint reader no longer works at the log on screen or lock Windows 8. The reader only works when I'm on the desktop or on the start screen, also due to a problem with the video card drivers because it is causing several incompatiblidades system. All these mistakes I vii event log windows.Have I contacted AMD who said that Dell is to update the driver for the notebook has two cards (intel and AMD) and fits Dell make changes and corrections. And then Dell??
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Dell Vostro 3560.CPU fan has been working constantly, even when the CPU is very low. The noise is awful! There is no software installed only new win7, latest DELL bios A13 and all latest drivers (chipset, video card, etc).I have performed and CPU fan disgnostic (reboot->F12 ->Disgnostic) it is passed. CPU FAN speed is reported 4600RPM.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have 10+ years experience, but I cant resolve this bug. I have a 3560 Vostro, new running win7. It has never went to sleep or hibernate properly. I have set it to go to sleep after 10 minutes and hibernate after 120 minutes, neither work as I wake up the next morning to find the laptop still running. ALSO I set the power button to "hibernate" and when pressing that it takes me to the log into windows screen. It seems like the computer goes to hibernate and IMMEDIATELY wakes up to the login screen.
Is there a program or setting that is preventing the PC from sleep/hibernation?
I think there are many others' complains about the fan noise. When in a quiet night the fan's suddenly noise really hurts me. Finally I noticed that it is the PCH diode that trigger the fan. when the temperature of PCH goes over 65 C, the fan starts running at full speed while CPU is around 50 C and lower. So will the next bios solve this problem? just make fan starting running at 65 C or lower with a very slow rpm to just cool down the PCH, rather than a instant full speed running at 70C. And I also want to ask that why the PCH is so hot, there is no any cooling part on it?
I also have to complain the HDD overheating. 42-45C is a normal temperature now while my 5 years old Inspiron 1520 is normally 35-37 C. the place for the HDD is not perfect. It avoids the feeling of vibration when putting HDD down your wrist, but the CPU heat around it becomes a new problem. I think it is unsolvable. And the workmanship of DELL is getting worse, since my new Vostro 3560 has many small flaws...
I bought a Vostro 3560 without the 32GB mSATA caching option. I found out that I need a new daughter card 82PYC in order to get the mSATA port available for my Vostro configuration, because the connector is not available if bought without the mSATA caching option. The question is, is only caching with the mSATA port/drive possible or can I buy a larger mSATA drive (say 128GB) and use it as ssd boot drive ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a vostro 3560, and turn it on after passing the initial checkup gives me a beep followed by silence and again on beep, no video signal gives and does nothing. which could be wrong with this machine ?.
The beep error code is only 1 continuous beep with the same time separation between the two beep, while not turn off the machine, the same sequence is repeated beep.
I'm having a problem with my Dell Vostro 3550 Core i5, completely shut down Windows, screen off completely, but the power light and the keyboard still light, until the battery is completely discharged.
I think the reason is the OS I'm using (Windows 8), I have changed the operating system (win7) but the problem is not fixed, I checked the hardware it still works fine
Notebook: dv4-5121tx
How to update recent versions of BIOS using USB? I checked MANY pages regarding this. But they all refer to BIOS distributed in different formats, and does not work for me.
The BIOS file, sp66897.exe (latest version, F.39) and sp60266.exe (previous version known to work, F.34) , contain the following files 01837.fdFlsHook.exe FlsHookDll.dllFWUpdLcl.exeInsydeFlash.exeiscflash.dlliscflash.sysiscflashx64.sysplatform.inixerces-c_2_7.dll
There is no .BIN for .SIG files.I copied all files to USB drive, renamed the drive HP_TOOLS, plug into the Notebook, and copy 01837.fd to all different names appeared in other pages, plug in the USB and power on with Windows Key + B down. End result was a black screen and blinking Caps Lock LED.
Is it possible to update recent BIOS from USB? Or can I update in Ubuntu / WinPE or other bootable device? I took the notebook to repair in HP service center. Because I needed to use the harddisk (formatted with GPT), I requested to removed the harddisk and HP engineer did so. After repair, the notebook said something like 'no bootable device ...'. It's found that the BIOS was DOWNGRADED to F.17 (originally F.34), which did not support GPT.
Therefore, I need to update the BIOS and any method requiring local harddisk is not usable. The harddisk quick test could run in BIOS. This means the hardware is OK. But the notebook does not know how to boot from the disk.
my question is, it is safe to update the BIOS from inside the Windows 8? I am ask because in the past my previous laptop, burned the motherboard of the laptop, because the bios update through the windows it was failed.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSimply put I went to update the bios on my notebook as I have previously without incident. Well this time the update downloaded, installed and powered down Windows Vista 64bit SP1. After that nothing! The power lights come on but that is it. No HP Screen, No MSFT Screen no nothing. I honestly think this is a bios update caused by HP's own update.
This is the update I installed: [URL] ...
1. cant trust windows for bios update
2. dont flash the bios unless told so by a qualified tech or acer
3. cant reflash/install orig bios via usb thumb drive
4. one option is to take back to acer and get slugged $$$ cos not covered
by warranty.
5. second option is to take bios chip out and have it reflashed.
6. third option is to buy a new bios chip.
7. fourth option i to buy a new motherboard
8. NEVER p!$$ off your gf/wife
After updating to brand new BIOS from Jan. 19th I cannot boot anymore into Windows 8.1 - always get INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. Tried to repair using a Windows 8.1 USB Stick, no success. Even downgrading to 1.08 did not work as well!
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I saw on the Lenovo System Update app, that I had couple critical and optional updates. These were the updates:
WER Patch
Lenovo Comm Utility
Lenovo Power Management Driver
ThinkPad Power Manager
Intel WLAN Driver
BIOS 2.60.1.14
There were couple updates on the Windows Side. I ran all of them in one session so I can't really say if windows messed up something or the System Update is responsible but since yesterday I can no longer shutdown my x230t i7 Win 7 Pro. I closes the desktop and then it gets to the screen where you'll see a spinning wheel and the words "Shutting Down":
But it will hang there forever and never actually shuts down. I have to press and hold down power button to shutdown.
during update bios sudden shutting down laptop dell studio 17
and after then not working
what can i do?
I have a vostro 1510
When i want to clear the bios password , i take it blank (dont enter any password)...and save it.
When i restart labtop i see again the password box , but i cant access my computer becuse it dos not accept my password and blank password......
I made a previous fan about the issue I had with Dell's managment of the fan settings. In an attempt to combat this, I thought I'd try installing a previous BIOS to see if it fixes the problem (perhaps there was an alternative fan managment setup).
View 6 Replies View Relatedi even mailed micheal dell regarding the issue of cpu staying at 930mhz or at multiplexer 7 at most of time..
they say that they are gonna fix this in the next update which is scheduled to be released with in jan15th...
i bet even though updating the bios wont help in boosting the performance without enough power...
they say that they are also considering about the 130W adapters...
I am running a 1737 with A04 BIOS. As far as I can tell everything us running great.
I recently saw that theres a new A06 BIOS. Is it worth it to update? And are there any risks?
improved battery life etc.
I hope I am using the right part of this forum to ask this... Heres my problem: I bought new Dell studio XPS 1340 (CPU: I Core2Duo T9300, GPU: GeForce 9500M (GF 9400MG + GF 9200MGS, HDD: 320GB, 7.2k, RAM: 4GB)
and I had some troubles configuring my graphic cards in SLI mode. I read somewhere, that BIOS upgrade from A07, which I have, to A11 will help with this problem.
I downloaded A11 BIOS update, but the setup wont recognize my current BIOS. When I load into the BIOS I see, that its really rev. A07, also it has header from Dell inc.
I just got the SXPS1640 and have been playing a game that is getting a bit warm after a few hours of play then the game started loading slower.
I was doing some reading and found that you can update the bios to A07? I found the download, but wanted to make sure that the computer doesn't already have this and how to install and it too.
I have a Dell XPS M1730 with a BIOS revision of A03--the latest revision available on the Dell Drivers & Downloads page is A10.
My dilemma is that I am not sure if it is safe to skip the revisions A06 and A09 and just go straight for revision A10.
Also, is revision A10 any better than A09 or A06? Please, I really need somebody's advice on this matter.
Reasons for this BIOS update:
* Upgrading to two 250GB Momentus hard drives and run them under RAID 0.
* Planning on dual-booting Windows Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit (need help on this one as well, but let's just focus on the current matter) .....
Since I updated my bios I have noticed that my fans are pretty much always on high and that the heat coming out the back is a lot hotter than it used to be. Granted, I have been using the computer with my big monitor with the lid closed more now but even when I'm not doing that it's still just as hot. Has anyone else noticed this since the update?

I have a dell 1749 with I7 and the ATI graphics card and loved it till today when I applied the recommended A04 version bios update.
It stopped at 69 out of 70 in the install process for over an hour and then I had a brick!
Dell have agreed to replace the unit as it is less than a month old and totally fried, it wont even get to the dell logo stage which means you can't revert to the previous bios.
It may have been that it was already faulty but I would be very wary of updating the bios at this time.
