Nov 25, 2009I've been having this problem since I received the notebook from Dell last March.
When the notebook goes into standby or hybernation mode, upon awaking, the screen becomes unreadable. The screen looks like a fractal image, swirling spirals and squares of colors.
When the box comes up that says 'This computer is locked' you can't type in the username or password lines and I have to push the power button and restart the notebook everytime after stand by or hybernation mode is used

Aug 15, 2009yesterday i closed the screen of my laptop. So the laptop goes to hybernation (the soft one)
This morning at 8 i've earded my laptop fan for few second. I think the battery was empty and the computer goes to shut down Vista.
This afternoon i want to boot the laptop and nothing... blackscreen but power ligth on.
I tried this
Battery 100% : NOK
Hard reset : the trick of pressing 40 sec the power button without AC et batt : NOK
Remove the HDD and booting : NOK
Remove and put the RAM : NOK
Without AC : NOK
Without Batt : NOK
So what does i have to do ? I'm leaving for holidays tomorow and i don't have laptop... and i need to work...

Sep 30, 2014I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-115dx and an HP 16gb flash drive that will not work with the computer. The flash drive works with my HP Pavilion laptop, but not with the Compaq. I have a 4gb HP flash drive that works with the computer just fine, along with a few SanDisk ones. I don't think that it's the USB drivers because my other flash drives work with the computer just fine. I really need to use the flash drive to back up information from the Compaq computer.

Feb 21, 2013My Lenovo Solution Center (LSC) told me that my mSATA had a targetd read test fail. Â I ran the test myself and it had the same issue. Â Read some threads and tried the LSC test but only tested the SSD, and it passed all tests when ran this way.

Went to the IBM Electronic Service Call website and entered the details and they sent me an empty box to ship my laptop back for repair. Â This seems overkill as I'm sure I could just pop in a new mSATA if that really was the problem, I don't want to give up my PC.

And how about Windows XP? I know most people have gotten used to and accepted Windows 7... but has anyone installed WIndows XP on their laptop that came with Windows 7 originally? I mean a native install, not virtual...

The bios shows the hard drive and its the first in the boot order. If i hit f12 after powering on to access boot options the 3rd choice is efi device windows boot manager. If i select that it boots normally and runs fine. is their a way to boot the machine without having to hit f12 every time and selecting efi device to boot to windows? i tried updating the bios as well.Â

Mar 25, 2014Have an HP DV8110us Pavilion notebook purchased in 2006. Â Running XP SP3. Â Upgrading to Windows 7 with a clean install. Â Ran the MS Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. Â This notebook has the AMD Turion 64-bit chip running at 1.8 mhz. Â I have 2 GB memory. Â Looking through the Win7 options, I decided to order Win7 32-bit, since I'm only carrying 2 GB of memory. Â Win 7 64-bit seems to be happier with 4 GB. Â While the Advisor shows I have some drivers that need updating after Window 7 is installed, I just noticed that the Realtex RTL8139/810x NIC needs a new driver for 32-bit Win7, but under 64-bit Win7, the NIC is compatible.

Should I have ordered the 64-bit Win7 ? Â Or should I look around for a new Realtek driver ? Â Realtex has a link to an old Vista driver that should work. Â Other searches suggest that a workable driver might be on the Win7 DVD.
