I'm trying to capture screen images in Windows 8 (Metro) and I've read several things saying that you can do it with (Windows Key + Print Screen) but it doesn't seem to work. I've noticed that Print Screen is on the same key as a button called Insert, so I'm wondering if that's why it doesn't work. I've tried holding shift and control to see if it makes a difference, but still can't do it.
I wish I could use the snipping tool in Metro, but it only seems to work in desktop mode. Is there a way to use the snipping tool in Metro?
I have HP ENVY m6-1279el Notebook with AMD Radeon HD 7670M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) and Intel 4000 HD.
My OS is Win 8.1 and I have a problem with Metro App. When I started some programs graphics is corrupted. Sometimes I get black screen and when I move my mouse pointer over screen it shows part of it.
I have AMD Catalyst Driver: 13.251.9001.1001-140704a-173665E-ATI with Control Center: 2014.0704.2133.36938.
I have a problem with the camera on my VAIO VGN-CR353. Whenever I take a still photo or video, the captured image or video that is saved becomes mirrored (the left and right are reversed). Even the mirror box in the camera setup is unchecked. Currently, I am running version 2.7.01.08030 of VAIO camera capture utility and the driver for the webcam is version 6.1005.209.0.
Does anyone know how to capture a single frame in iMovie 08? I'd like to create a poster from a couple clips in iMovie but I can't seem to figure this out.
I just purchased a brand new HP Pavilion dv6-6130tx from Hong Kong four days ago and I was very content with it. The webcam quality was decent until yesterday when I wanted to use the webcam with pre-installed 'cyberlink youcam'. The capture was dark, even when I checked the 'auto lighting' feature. I have been searching this forum and the driver and support HP website for a fix, but there is no webcam driver I can use to re-install. I have tried updating the webcam driver through 'Device manager'. I even uninstalled 'Cyberlink Youcam' and installed 'HP Mediasmart webcam'.
Everything is dark and not even my face is recognizable, it only shows intense light. I am not sure whether it is a software failure or a hardware failure, but I can't seem to find the root of the problem.
My warranty has no run out so dell can't actually support me. Whenever I try to use the camera the blue light comes on as if to say that it is working but the picture is just black. When I click to take a picture regardless a box pops up that says "Unable to capture a photo. Please reconnect your camera and try again". But if the camera is integrated how can disconnect it? Have tried reinstalling drivers and even the webcam manager itself but it has not worked.
I have a sony fz-180e and i had to reinstall my whole operating system and i lost the viao camera capture utility application and i cant use my camera what so ever, can any one help me with this? I need to get the softeware again but i cant find it ANYWHERE.....
My T430s camera(Windows8) is not working now. The LED light is on when I start the camera, but no imamges show up. I checked the driver, and it's already the latest version. The camera was working at the begining when I got my laptop, but I don't know what happened to it.
ThinkPad Setup Settings Capture/Playback Utility for Windows (SRSETUPWIN) for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad
I have VAIO CR: VGN-CR25G/R. There is something wrong with my inbuilt camera. It works perfectly fine when i use it for webcam chat on msn. However, it doesn't work (in fact, it doesn't react at all) when i press the "CAPTURE" button on my laptop keyboard. Do you know why this is the case? And how can i fix it?
I went to Device Manager > Imaging Devices > Sony Visual Communication Camera and it tells me that the "device is working properly"
As per my title my XPS will not load windows at all and i cannot figure out how to sort it, now i have tried the methods as featured on this thread [URL] .... crucially though the F12 key is dead so since i'm unable to get to the boot options . So how i can restore windows to it and just as importantly back up my files i have stored on my computer??
I don't know if this makes a difference at all but i do have a copy of windows on my external hard drive and i have a back up of my settings on a USB.
Just installed Windows 7 on my E4300. This is the first time I'm trying out an OS other than XP (never touched Vista)
Most of the components seem to work well.
Can anyone tell me if they got the screen brightness (Fn + up, down or left arrows) to work? I can see the toggle on the screen move from left to right in the settings, but the actual screen doesn't actually go dim or bright.
When I pull the power and run on batt, the screen dims (and I cannot make it brighter). And if it's on power, I cannot dim it either.
Is this a driver issue? Which driver? The closest one I see is the Video driver.
Also, does anyone also notice the mouse pad being sluggish?
I'm so used to very fast mouse where if I move my finger from the top right to the bottom left, the mouse arrow also does the same on the screen in one shot.
just purchased this touch Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook... Yesterday there was starting issue, I turned it on to power up, and signed in to my user section suddenly I got completely black screen with curser arrow that I can move around. .
There was just keypad lights on and the rest is all black screen after turning power switch on, no user choice screen, no info about bios activity.. nothing. I can't start the computer, I am using my old computer now ... the machine is under warranty,
I have a new XPS 15 9530with a Quad HD (3200x1800) screen running Windows 8.1.The Quad HD screen obviously requires some new smarts to display application windows properly because not all applications handle it well. "Beyond Compare" is a severe case in point - it seems that icons in it's windows are displayed very small and text box lines are truncated vertically, so much so that the bottom half (or more) of the text in these lines cannot be read. I'm guessing this is a Dell driver issue because of the newness of these screens. I'm a software developer and use Beyond Compare all the time. In some cases I can't even change the settings because the setting screen in unreadable with this issue.
There are other applications that exhibit the same or similar problem. Visual Studio 2010 has some issues, but the main problem I have with it is that some drop-down boxes are displayed extremely small. At least they're readable if you get close to the screen!the MS Office products I use all the time (Word & Excel) don't show any problems, but I wonder why these are good and "lesser known" apps have problems inadequate testing?
I develop in a dual-screen mode with a Dell U2412M monitor and the "bad" windows on the laptop screen do not change their perspective when I move them across - although during the drag they show as very large windows on the second screen until the whole window is in the second screen and then it shrinks to an "expected" size. It is this behaviour in particular that leads to think it is a driver "bug" that might be causing the window display problem.
I formatted windows on my M1330 and tried installing XP x86 however when i put the disk in and boot from CD it starts the windows process and when it says 'Windows is starting..
it will hang there for 40 seconds then a blue screen will appear saying..
I have a problem with my studio 1525, whenever I run windows update and try to restart after, i get a blue screen of death, the i have to run recovery manager to get running again.
Blue screen since I bought this laptop with windows 8 OS (3 months):
I already ran:
- Intel® Driver Update Utility
-Repair-install the operating system (Original Dell Image) for 2times
- All windows updates done
- Update the DELL BIOS version
- Ran DELL PC Check Up – Hardware Diagnostics
- Ran anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, etc.
- Ran HW monitor to check temperatures, all normal
- Ran Advanced SystemCare 6 for windows optimization and registry fix.
… and the the blue screens didn’t stop!!!. Usually I get one for day.
Normally I get this blue screens even when laptop is notbeing run any program. By the details look that is related with an app. But theolder critical events sometimes don’t give so many details.
This laptop a bad historical. In less than 3 months alreadyhad two times the hard-disk replaced.
I've had my XPS 17 for a week and have run into problems. Initially, I had no problems but two days after owning the machine, picked up the first: I opened up the laptop lid and was met by a message, the gist of which was 'Windows has recovered from a blue screen error' . I rebooted and put that message in my 'lets wait and see if that happens again' memory bank.
Things went well after that until I tried installing and using a game, which would have been the first time I'd used my GT 555M graphics card in anger. Installation went well but after starting the game, the screen started flickering, messages started appearing in the bottom right hand corner of the screen saying 'graphics has malfunctioned but recovered', or something to that effect, then the laptop crashed.
I tried updating drivers (I'm 100% sure they were compatible with my card) and this made my laptop even more unstable, throwing freeze after freeze, blue screen after blue screen and refusal to boot or shut down at me.
I decided to start from scratch and did a complete factory settings restore and upon first switch on (the laptop does it's 'setting up for first use' routine) was met with a blue screen error. The error details were as follows:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 2057Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 116 BCP1: FFFFFA800BF95010 BCP2: FFFFF8800F438EA8 BCP3: 0000000000000000 BCP4: 0000000000000002 OS Version: 6_1_7601 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 768_1
The laptop then rebooted itself and seemed to run just fine. I checked the device manager and it appears windows has shut down my GT 555M card as it was reporting problems.
I ran Dell diagnostics prior to the full factory restore and beside the fact it didn't pick up the GT 555M (it did test the Intel HD3000 and that was fine), it said all was fine.
I have just rerun the diagnostics after the restore and it seems the DVD drive is now having issues too:
OPU Test - not supported Spindle Test - not supported Tray Out Test - not supported
My machines details:
Model Dell System XPS L702X Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (64-bit)
I recently installed windows 8.1 on my dell xps 15z everything works alright but the screen at times displays vertical lights. It gives the image of the screen malfunctioning and then it disappears.
I formatted and did a fresh install of windows 7 RC x64. All devices were discovered.
I was having issues with the touchpad not responding after every other reboot so I installed the vista x64 driver from dell website. That resolved that issue.
Now I have been having constant blue screen 9f bccode crashes while the laptop is sleeping. When I open the lid I need to power on and it says windows shutdown unexpectedly
computer turns on but wont go to windows, stuck on a Dell screen, press ctrl alt delete 2 option F2 or F12, almost as if windows is no longer installed, wifes computer, not sure if she picked up a virus, computer was working fine till the other day now nothing.
My brand new Inspiron 14z remains on the starting DELL screen after boot up.
The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 that doesn't boot successfully. It gets to the screen indicating "Starting WIndows" and then just sits there. I tried safe booting but when it should be displaying windows files that are loading, the screen just stays blank. I tried selecting "Repair" boot but the system just blinks and returns to the window that asks me to select Repair or Normal Boot. (If I select Normal Boot, it gets to "Starting Windows" and that's it.
I checked out the hard drive externally and it appears the hardware is functioning normally. I successfully booted with Hiren's Boot CD. I would like to attempt a RECOVERY but can't get beyond the Repair screen.
Since Dell doesn't provide an OS disk with the computer that would allow me to reinstall Windows 7...
few days back dell inspiron's windows got crashed.
I can reinstall But at the same time i will also lose my data.
is there any way I can get the window problem fixed keeping data safe at the same time
Model - Inspiron N5110 Error: windows recovery error initially (Blue screen) but now (Black Screen) which reads:File: BootBCDStatus: 0xc000000fInfo An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
I tried to use repair option but didnt work as it said there is no system image...
I have a new Dell Inspiron 17R with Windows 8 (bought dec 12). From the last two days, the laptop freezes after boot. The screen (touch wood) is fine, since it gives me option to trouble shoot and all. I have a feeling its a windows 8 problem. I have done all the things (such as pressing fn and power logo) as mentioned in other posts. Still its not working. As of now the laptop is in pre-boot system assessment - all are done but Hard Drive 0 is stuck at 10% from the last 15 mins!
Why is the screen black / blank after booting dell logo? I do get 'Welcome' message below the Dell logo but after that the screen is blank.
