Dell XPS 13 :: UltraBook Not Connecting To Projector
May 15, 2012
I just bought this Ultrabook the other day and I travel for business. While at home, I tested the mini-display port output with my TV and it projected my laptop screen perfectly. Now I am on the road at a client site and their Epson projector will not recognize my computer's output (or more likely my computer won't recognize their projector, since other people have no problem connecting to this same projector).
XPS 13... I've tried both duplicating and extending my screen to the projector with no success. I can't find anything about this problem by doing a Google search...
I have HP Pavilion 15 p000su with HDMI port and tried to connect it via HDMI-VGA cable i bought and it didnt connect. Can't Indentify it(find it in the screen options).I need it for work also tried it at home to connect it with my TV with the same cable and still not finding it... I'm really not much in this cable things and asked a guy who told me about this HDMI-VGA cable. He also tried to connect it with 2 cables one vga and one hdmi with some adapters, but the projector wasnt connecting. The drivers are correct and everything else is fine.
I am trying to connect my Inspiron 1525 laptop to a NEC MT 600 projector. Having connected the cable and switched both machines on I try to switch using Fn F8 and get the message no external monitor connected.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 R laptop to give presentations. There is not a female VGA connection on the laptop - only USB ports and an HDMI port. I have contacted Dell and been to Best Buy, Office Depot, Radio Shack, etc., etc. but no dice...
I am having some difficulty getting a Dell Latitude D630 to connect to a projector. I have tried the Fn key+F8 key however this does not work. This option merely cycles through three other options all saying 'Presentation Mode Off'. I have been successful in connecting other laptops with the projector. Is there somthing with the D630 that I have failed to do that is causing this?
My main aim is to playback Blu-ray ripped movies from 6935g and output to projector via hdmi.
When projector is connected to 6935g, yeah, it detected the projector and the desktop appears on the projector screen, that's the easy part 6935g downsized to 1280x720p automatically, guess that is because my pj only supports 720p and not 1080p, need to start save again for a 1080p pj,
Now the big question Powerdvd playback the movie on the 6935g screen but the powerdvd on the pj screen is black in color, no movies
I use powerdvd instead of acer arcade deluxe because the latter does not play Blu-ray ripped movies, also the acer arcade does not play blu-ray disc from the blu-ray drive, it says graphic driver not compatible it does however play the demo disc when pj not connected
At university, there are projectors which are used when doing a demo or presenting our software. I wanted to know if the mini display port to vga converter works flawlessly with projectors.
I want to use my notebook to do a presentation in class. However, no matter which projector I connect to my Vaio SZ440, the display is unable to be shown on the projector.
I've tried Fn+F7, not working, tried stamina mode, not working, tried speed mode, not working. I've tried "Connect to a projector or other external display", not working. I've no idea what I should do. I really need to fix this or else I'll get screwed this semester. Every other notebook the projector connects to, it will automatically detect and show the display. Only mine is like this.
Please help. About 1 year ago I didn't experience any problem when connecting to a projector. I didn't remember what exactly I do to make it go bad. But I really need it to work this semester.
Have used this projector for 8 months, with no prob til recently.
When I connect the VGA plug into laptop, POW! off it goes. Totally shuts down.
When I connect with with laptop off, and try to boot up, NO GO! No matter if the projector is on, or off, the lap top is just rejecting the VGA cable being connected it its port.
I am running Win 7 on a new T440p. I can't connect to a projector using F7 nor are the brightness controls working (F5 and F6). The other HotKeys are working. I have updated to the latest HotKey driver.
I can't get the display configured to support using my TV as an external monitor.
There is an option under Control Panel -> Appearance to "Connect to a Projector". That brings up a display "Computer Only", "Duplicate" or "Projector Only". If I select Duplicate I see "1|2 Multiple Monitors" in my Screen Resolution selection. But if I hit Identify it shows "1|2" both on my netbook LCD display.
After playing with this for a while I now can't even get the built-in display to work when I attache the VGA cable to my TV. That causes the LCD display to go black. I've played with toggling the display using the F5 key (also tried 6, though the icon on the F5 key seems to be the one I want). That doesn't work.
There's a different way to display the Display Devices settings - by right-clicking on the desktop area and selecting Graphics Properties. That brings up a different window which shows Operating Mode and Display Selection. I've been able to get that to indicate a Multiple Monitor choice under Operating Mode and appear to allow me to choose what to display in the "Primary Device" and the "Secondary Device", but the pull-down choices for both of these only show Notebook.
I have seen it on two different laptops now. Both are HP ProBook 6460b. When the user plugs the laptop into a VGA cable that is connected to a projector, the laptop blue screens and reboots.
The laptop doesn't bluescreen and reboot when connected to monitors, but usually the users are using a docking station when connected to a monitor, or monitors. I haven't seen any issues with plugging in a VGA cable connected to a monitor, but that is rare.
I've tried updating drivers, but haven't had any luck.
Using the projector setting, I'm noticing a slight lag when I open/close any of the applications (ie: there is a momentary pause before the window either appears/disappears).
The external monitor is a Samsung Central Station (1920x1080) and connects to the laptop wirelessly via a USB/UWB dongle.
We have several 8460p with the same issue. They work fine until you try to connect an external monitor/TV/projector and then the trouble begins.
When using Fn+F4 to establish a dual screen output the external monitor and the built in screen switches between the two as if the PC can not determine the screen to use. On rare occasions it works but it is not reliable. I´ve first encountered this on a fair and when I tried it before the session it worked well. During the session it just started this behaviour. I took it out and replaced the graphic drivers, the BIOS and made sure the resolution was not the issue. It worked well and I returned it to the lecturing room and it started again.
I started to believe the projector was the bad part here so I did not try to use the PC again on that fair but no other computer showed any sign of trouble.
Since then, this was early this spring, I´ve seen and experienced the same problem with several computers of the same type and with different monitor and they all behave the same way.
I have spent some time now and searched the web but nothing I´ve found does explain anything around this and so far no driver update and no other update (including a full installation) has solved this.
The computer are the HP Elitebook 8460p with AMD-graphics.
There are not any other indication of that something is wrong in logs or anything.
My first time bough the dell xps 14 ultra book i5-3317U last week.In day one, I love everything about the ultra book except the fan noise come up every 3 to 5mins, the noise come up so often even when i m just browsing internet. It really loud and last for 5 to 10s. This is the only bad thing about dell bookCurrently on bio version A04.
I have Dell XPS 12 ultrabook that I can't figure out what the issue is. The issues started with the computer not charging completely. It was getting an error saying along the lines that it was unreconized or incorrect power supply when it was the one that came with the computer. We had a second XPS and used that charger, and had a replacement sent I was getting the same error. I could never updated the BIOS because it would not go past 1 percent. Now it no longer powers on at all. I get the Orange and white power light blinking and battery meter with one light and that is it. I hooked the battery and held the power and checked every other connection. I tried powering it on without the battery and did nothing so IDK if it would worked that way or not but just trying it. Is the motherboard or something else going on?
I recently purchased the xps 12 ultrabook. Now the touch pad on it will not work at all. Not sure if I pushed something to disable it or what? But the pointer is there and when I click, it does absolutely nothing!! I have to use the touch screen for everything or an external mouse that I plugged in.
This touch pad sucks! I just got the new XPS 12 convertible Ultrabook and I have always loved the XPS now regretting that I did not go with the Macbook....
The touch pad is rarely seems to work correctly even after I have adjust the settings and it is constantly freezing up for 10-20 seconds and I have to right click several times to get it to unfreeze. Really irritating! The only way to get around this is to use a USB mouse.
I recently received my new XPS 14 (L421x) ultrabook. Out of the box, this machine has a 500Gb C: drive labeled "OS" and a second 110Gb SSD D: drive labeled "Data". Windows 8 is installed on the C: drive. There is absolutely nothing on the D: drive.
Does this sound right? I would have thought that you would want to have the OS on the SSD and boot from that (much faster?) drive.
I thought sleep mode only occured when you did not touch the mouse or keyboard for a specific period of time but my new ultrabook is dimming and locking me out while I am typing. I have to push the blinking power button and then I have the blue screen with CTRL+ALT+DELETE (work laptop).I cannot find any sleep mode settings and perhaps.
My year old XPS 13 Ultrabook's battery is not charging when plugged in. I measured the voltage of the power adaptor at the plug (the end that connects to the Ultrabook) and the voltage level seem fine at 19.4V
However when I plug and unplug the power when the Ultrabook is off, the LED turns on and off accordingly.
My Ultrabook is L321x, running Windows 7, and has BIOS A7 installed.
I bought an XPS13 i7, installed the BIOS (that went fine) and then installed the drivers. After installing the "WiFi Display" driver, the computer will not restart. Here is what happens:
I select the restart option it shuts down it powers up (the Dell logo appears) it then goes to a grey screen.
After approximately 10 seconds (or after I press enter) a progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the words "F12 Options." The progress bar is persistently at 99% or thereabouts the computer is completely frozen and nothing happens
If I then press the power button, it powers off. When I press the power button again, it starts perfectly normally.
The main concern for me is that this is the second XPS13 from Dell in 1 week!!! The first one had an almost identical problems after the driver installs but it couldn't even be powered back into Windows. No matter what you tried, it simply went to the screen with the progress bar and froze.
I received my new Inspiron Utrabook today . Everything was fine for the first time that I booted. When I tried booting the second time, it's stuck on the Dell screen. Tried hitting F2 as per the suggested posts but to no avail. And how do you remove the battery ?
Got a new Inspiron 14z Ultrabook with Windows 8 64 bit, and I want to connect the Internet through a Huawei EC167 3G modem, running a program called "Mobile Partner". When I first install the modem it works fine, but as soon as I switch off the computer and switch it on again it stops working. The only way I get the modem working again is doing a computer refresh and re-installing the modem, but then it only works until I switch the computer off.
That Huawei modem used to work alright with an Inspiron 11z with Windows 7 64 bit.
I had just closed it the other night after charging it. Then there was nothing - no boot, no LED with charger, no fan. I checked and the charger is definitely functioning, so I worry that this is a problem with the motherboard.
Since it's an ultrabook, I haven't been able to remove flea power since the battery is embedded into the laptop.I wonder if it would be possible for a technician to come have a look at it ASAP?
