I just installed W7 and can not find Roxio Creator anywhere on any of my disks, I have all the disks that came with my 1737 I never had to install Roxio and never looked for it before.
View 10 RepliesI finally replaced the keyboard on my Latitude D800 - the spacebar stopped functioning. The new keyboard works fine, but I think I screwed up putting stuff back together.
The back plastic part that needed to come off (the thing with the power buttons, mute, and lights, etc.)
has a small bump in front of the four indicator lights around where the right screw is for the keyboard. I can't press it down more, thoug

View 10 Replies View Relatedi decided this was a good place to ask since the cd came with my system. like titles says i open program says no drive detected. well i know the drive is there. i have put a blank dvd there and started writing with dvd + rw dvds. well it doesnt let me erase with out roxio. so how do i fix the roxio problem. i heard of the PX engine i downloaded it and i got a message that said
"unable to write the current directory, this installation file needs to be able to read/write the current directory,. please change the premissions for the directory to move the installer to a location that has the proper read/write permissions"

I have recently purchased DELL Inspiron 14R 5420, which has preinstalled Windows 8. Later I came to know that some of my software are not working on the Windows 8.
Can I have multiple boots on my system. One Windows 7 and other Windows 8. Or can I create some disk for the installed windows 8 so that in future I can installed it again if I wish to.
My keyboard has stopped wanting to type any key back to back without a pause (whether it's a letter or delete or backspace). So if I'm typing a word with two letters that are consecutive, I have to pause or forget and backspace (which I can only do once also without a pause). It's also started this slight click/beep that happens usually in conjunction with the error although sometimes not. And, the click/beep isn't consistent (or at least I haven't found it's rhythm yet).

Everything appears to be working fine in my win 7 installation with the exception of the video. If I install any video driver then the LCD display dim's down to <50% of its normal brightness compared to just vanilla VGA drivers. External monitor works fine.
I initially went with the official NVIDIA 186.03 driver, and this exhibited the dimming effect. I have since tried all manner of other video driver versions including laptop2go, etc and none of them work. Even had my first win7 BSOD when I installed Dell's latest Vista x64 driver .....
I just purchased a new Dell inspiron 3542. it came with a preinstalled Ubuntu. touch pad was working fine. I deleted Ubuntu and installed Windows 8. Now touch pad is not working and Wifi adapter is also not working. I swear its only 7 hours when i purchased this laptop. and facing these issues.
I also tried the drivers from dell website. downloaded and installed. my win8 is 64 bits.
How to resolve it. is this issue is under warranty?

On my DV5z and its a little bit screwy. But i didnt know i wouldnt be able to boot to recovery using f11 after doing it and now i cant restore my pc back to Vista because i never made restore Disks. I still have my drive D folder and wanna know how to make a new disk using just that.

I purchased my Dell Latitude E6500 direct from Dell USA Small Business on 2008-11-04, and shipped on 2008-11-21. It was pre-installed with Windows Vista Ultimate.
I've seen that systems purchased more recently (~June or July) qualify for a free upgrade from Vista to 7. I'm guessing there is nothing to qualify me for such a free upgrade, but considering that I haven't even had this system for a year yet, should there be any other upgrade discounts or specials available - either through Dell, directly from Microsoft, etc.?
Especially with the scores of users who claim that Windows 7 is really just another service pack to Vista, and with Apple offering their latest OS upgrade for a mere $29, I would certainly hope I'm not looking to pay the $219.99 as listed at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/buy/default.aspx - the same price as if I had never purchased Vista and upgraded a 7-year-old XP installation instead.

View 14 Replies View RelatedNew Latitude E6510 running Win7 Pro 64 bit. Periodically the laptop will boot with a red X through the speaker icon in the tray. Placing the mouse cursor over the speaker icon displays a message something like "No audio device is installed. A cold boot does not correct the problem. Shutting down, disconnecting the power supply, removing the battery then restarting has corrected the problem so far.
I assume this is a hardware problem.
I've adjusted the custom on zoom to 100; I can get back to 199 by ctrl0; but some thing is interfering with the size of my script and even on email; it also enlarges photos on websites &email. I'm fed up with this whole notebook, windows 8 stuff. It even changes custom when it enlarges.

a friend of mine has a DV9620us. I INstalled WIndows 7 Ultimate x64. I got pretty much everything working on it except for 2 things that I cannot remember how to fix.
1. The remote control that comes with it. I installed Wireless Assistant for W7, but it still didn't respond.
2. While I have the quick launch buttons installed, the mute button does not turn amber when muted. It's not a najor issue, but I would like to be able to have his laptop fully working the way he brought it to me (especially since it used to be mine.)
I just had this notebook-pc HP 14-d008au 14 inch and my issues are: When the package brought to me it doesnt have any dvd or cd for all drivers, second the OS is ubuntu when I changed it to Windows 8 some drivers from your website when I run it, it can't be installed. Third the wifi and bluetooth is not working ( it cannot recognize wireless internet and devices). I can't use this thing because of some missing hardwares and drivers.

A few days afterward, I had an issue where my speaker icon has a red "x" over it, and when I hover over it it says "no audio output device is installed". The funny thing is that the speakers worked after windows update installed an update, then they stopped a few days later, and I cannot for the life of me get the speakers to work again!
