Oct 24, 2009a friend of mine has a DV9620us. I INstalled WIndows 7 Ultimate x64. I got pretty much everything working on it except for 2 things that I cannot remember how to fix.
1. The remote control that comes with it. I installed Wireless Assistant for W7, but it still didn't respond.
2. While I have the quick launch buttons installed, the mute button does not turn amber when muted. It's not a najor issue, but I would like to be able to have his laptop fully working the way he brought it to me (especially since it used to be mine.)

Jul 29, 2014I just had this notebook-pc HP 14-d008au 14 inch and my issues are: When the package brought to me it doesnt have any dvd or cd for all drivers, second the OS is ubuntu when I changed it to Windows 8 some drivers from your website when I run it, it can't be installed. Third the wifi and bluetooth is not working ( it cannot recognize wireless internet and devices). I can't use this thing because of some missing hardwares and drivers.

A few days afterward, I had an issue where my speaker icon has a red "x" over it, and when I hover over it it says "no audio output device is installed". The funny thing is that the speakers worked after windows update installed an update, then they stopped a few days later, and I cannot for the life of me get the speakers to work again!

Sony :: SZ320 Slower After I Installed More RAM
Jan 5, 2009My notebook originally came with 2x512 MB RAM and a little while ago, I installed 1 stick of Kingston 2GB PC2-5300 RAM and I saw an improvement in its speed.
Just the other day, I installed another stick of an indentical 2GB Kingston, and now the boot-up and switching bertween program seemed noticably slower.
I don't know what is going on!
Also, another problem that poped up was that after every shut down, when the notebook boots back up, all my settings has been resetted to stock, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music etc has been cleared (although they remain in the HDD), but they come back after I perform a system restore.

Everything appears to be working fine in my win 7 installation with the exception of the video. If I install any video driver then the LCD display dim's down to <50% of its normal brightness compared to just vanilla VGA drivers. External monitor works fine.
I initially went with the official NVIDIA 186.03 driver, and this exhibited the dimming effect. I have since tried all manner of other video driver versions including laptop2go, etc and none of them work. Even had my first win7 BSOD when I installed Dell's latest Vista x64 driver .....

Oct 28, 2014Have an Envy M6-K010DX notebook. Due to an internet problem while upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1, the PC doesn't properly boot and Windows Explorer won't load. Decided to 'Refresh' the OS and went to the F11 restore utilities. When I go to the refresh utility and follow the prompts I reach a message that says, "The drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." I've searched support for unlocking instructions and aside from some bootrec commands (that didn't work - probably because I don't have a Win 8 disk) not much is available.
The only access I have for running commands is via the Task Manager and F11 command prompt. What is this 'locked' drive, anyway?

Sep 16, 2014I just purchased a new Dell inspiron 3542. it came with a preinstalled Ubuntu. touch pad was working fine. I deleted Ubuntu and installed Windows 8. Now touch pad is not working and Wifi adapter is also not working. I swear its only 7 hours when i purchased this laptop. and facing these issues.
I also tried the drivers from dell website. downloaded and installed. my win8 is 64 bits.

Sony :: Turning Off Bluetooth Without SmartWi Installed
May 20, 2009I did a clean install of Vista a few weeks back and I decided not to install the SmartWi application. Is there a way to turn off the Bluetooth in order to get longer battery life? I have just been disabling the Bluetooth in the device manager.
I also disabled the 'Bluetooth Software' from the startup items, but the bluetooth icon still appears after a restart. Does this signify that it is on?
