View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using an Inspiron 1564 and I just tri ed to watch a movie from Internet on my TV
I checked with configuration panel the sound output on HDMI connection, it was activated but not connected and, of course, I got no sound on my TV set.
What did I forget in order to have the sound over HDMI ?
When I connect my G505s laptop to TV via the HDMI port , the audio does not go through the TV.
I found similar topics, but nothing works [URL] ......
On CONTROL panel i select SOUND.
I do not have the HDMI Output listed under “Playback” tab, right click in the playback window and select Show Disabled Device and Show Disconnected Device. And still it didnt show the HDMI output. :/
Under Playback It shows only Speakers and Headphones. (Still after selecting Shoe disabled device and Disconnected Device). Under recording Stereomix and microphone.
What would fix this? Its my laptop missing any file/ program or driver? Or is there problem with audio card or display card?
( I download drivers from [URL] ....... so i mean its Updated).
I have a HP 8510p (XP32) that works really fine. The only thing that I can not make it happen is that whatever I try I can not get the DD, DTS work between my laptop HDMI and my receive. I recieive only stereo (Audio HDMI OUT is selected).
Question:
1) How on earth can I get DTS/DD from my laptop HDMI when i play a mkv with DTS/DD audio?
2) If I connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI and the laptop to my amp via optical, can it make the trick? (the only problem here is that, my laptop does not have optical out, just HDMI and analog, but using a docking station i can have optical out...)
I've noticed that my 8510p's HDD (which is a Toshiba) makes a loud scratching sound for about a second every week or every two weeks. I ran HD Tune's error scan and it came up with no damaged blocks. What's wrong? Should I be worried? I've already backed-up my important stuff.

When I plug in the hdmi going to my tv i still get "Not plugged in" in sound settings...
When I first used the laptop sound would sometimes come through the HDMI to the TV. Now it never does. When I look at playback devices there is no HDMI playback, but only "Speaker/HP". I have gone into the DTS audio panel, which also only lists one playback device. I have also right clicked in playback devices to show all disabled or disconnected devices and there aren't any others.
Laptop speakers or speakers plugged into the jack work fine. The video on the HDMI connection also works fine.
So far I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version and also uninstalled the realtek audio driver and installed the latest driver from HP's website.
None of this has caused sound to work through the HDMI or even an HDMI playback device to appear.
I recently noticed my Pavilion dv7 entertainment notebook won't play sound through the tv anymore. The picture is on the tv but sound is running through the laptop speakers? I never had a problem with this until now. When i open up the sound options, the ATI HDMI output says it's not connected and so it wont let me select it, but it is connected?

IDT High Definition Audio Codec listed but no connect to HDMI - suspect drivers not up-to-date?? But HP assistant says all is up to date?? Have looked on web - many answers for Win XP/Vista etc but I am running WIN 8.1- can always connect external speakers or use Y-connector but I think this single HDMI cable SHOULD work?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Envy 15 which came pre-installed with Win8. When the 8.1 update came out I installed and now can't get any audio when connecting via HDMI to my TV although image is there.
I've ensured all the drivers are updated AFAIK, but in the Device Manager I get the highlighted, obviously as above, the cable is plugged in.
All was working fine prior to the update and I have also used 4 different cables, which are all fine as I also have an old Compaq laptop which is still running Win8 allows audio via HDMI.

My laptop has no sound at all - built in speakers, earbuds, not even when connected to my TV using the HDMI port (which is a separate driver).
2 weeks ago all sound was working. I was watching (and listening) youtube videos using my earbuds. I stopped a video and left my laptop unused until the next day. There were no installs or updates applied that I am aware of. The next day I closed Youtube and played words with friends and there was no sound. I restarted the laptop and still no sound.
I have read and worked through many processes and fixes found on this and other forums but have been unable to get sound working. I also attempted to restore my laptop back to prior to this issie but my restore points fail (corrupted).
Drivers: Both drivers are present and state they are working properly - they are current versions
ATI high definition Audio Device Date 5/6/2010 Ver 7.11.0.7706
IDT High Definition Audio Codec Date 6/17/2010 Ver 6.10.6289.0
I have uninstalled (checked delete the driver software for this device) and reinstalled multiple times.
I have uninstalled, shutdown, removed power and battery, held power button for 30 seconds, then repowered and let the drivers reinstall (they automatically installed upon boot I was not able to run the sp50642.exe that I downloaded).
I also used the HP Recovery tool and reinstalled the drivers to factory default
I have run Microsofts problem finder and it reports all is working.
I have verified there are no settings muted or disabled. When I test the speakers from"Sound and Headphones" Properties, I get "Failed to play test tone".
FYI - I have not done an update to the BIOS but I checked and mine is the updated version F.29 but the date is 14 days older then the downloadable SP55299 version.
i have a DV2 and it supports audio over the HDMI, does the DV3 support this also?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am just now getting around to using my DV5t that I purchased back in January. The system is still configured *exactly* as shipped from the factory.
One of the first things I wanted to do was to test its ability to play DVDs, etc when I am on the road, so I hooked it up to a 32" LCD TV via an HDMI cable. The display was recognized just fine, and I configured dual view with the LCD TV as the second monitor.
When I dropped a DVD in and fired up Windows Media Player and HP Quick Play, I realized that I needed to tell it to use the speakers on the TV instead of the internal speakers.
But when I went into the Sound control panel to make the change, the device "NVIDIA HDMI Output - NVIDIA HDMI Audio" showed as 'Not Plugged In' and the device only appeared when "show disconnected devices" was checked..........
I've been having some problems hooking up my girlfriend's dv5 to our TV. It no longer plays audio over the HDMI connection.
I mostly use VLC player to play HD content and at first it worked, with some tweaking. I had to disable and enable the audio track in VLC and then it would play through the TV. Now, it no longer works. In the audio control panel, or whatever its called (Vista), it says the HDMI device is enabled, but nothing seems to be using it.
I have an Aspire V3-571. Please see summary below in bullet points:
1. Used to work fine when connected to my TV (via HDMI cable)
2. One night, when laptop was connected to TV, picture started flickering
3. After 20 minutes, HDMI signal cannot be detected from the laptop
4. Updated Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver (Date: 1/29/2014 Version: 9.17.10.3347)
5. Tried using different HDMI cables
6. Pressing Fn+F5 does not do anything
My TV's HDMI port works with other devices when connected to it. What am I missing here? Is there a hardware defect with my laptop?
my DV9774ca I plug my HDMI cable in and watch on TV just fine, but have had to manually switch from laptop speakers to digital output manually. You have to remember to do this before starting Media Player, etc, or have to go back and start again.
Its the Realtek High Definition Audio.
how to get it to automatically switch audio to the digital when HDMI is plugged in?
I recently purchased a Lenovo ... so I was trying to get some games running on my big screen with my lenovo y50 laptop which I should have set to always use the 860m dedicated card. But when I'm running a second display it defaults to using the Intel 4600 chip, obviously not great for running games. I've tried looking every where in the Nvidia control panel and Intels control panel but can't find anything to fix this issue. That HDMI port is the only display port on the laptop as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer which is running 7win64 to update my T60 which I use with my home TV, a samsung digital running at 1360x768 resolution. The computer's native resolution is 1920x1080. I bought an hdmi adapter for the displayport from lenovo when I ordered the computer. Initially, the display works and at first it ran long enough to get everything set for a nice crisp display that fits the screen perfectly. The sound is there too, and is passed on to my receiver by the TV. Very nice. But then it begins to blink off until it doesn't work at all (the sound is cut off too). Lately it won't stay on long enough to review settings.
All updates are in place, both from microsoft and from lenovo. This has Intel 4600 graphics built in, and intel has graphics drivers available, but won't install them because of the lenovo supplied drivers.
I can't get any support from lenovo support because another device is involved.
I read online of some early users who had this problem with a docking station and i guess the problem was resolved with an updated driver.
Have Laptop Compaq N610C,P4,512mb ram.windowsxp pro sp3.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been hearing some static when audio plays, not every time but occasionally. For example, when I click a hyperlink I'd sometimes hear the static, maybe 1/3 of the time. I decided to uninstall and reinstall the IDT driver.
I went to the Control Panel and uninstalled IDT Audio (I think it was called). After it was uninstalled the computer was silent, as I expected. Even though it didn't say to restart the computer I restarted anyway, just to be safe.
When the computer restarted I had sound again. Looking at the audio mixer it says I have a "High Definition Audio Device". Most importantly, I don't have the annoying static that was driving me crazy.
I'm inclined to not reinstall the IDT driver (just downloaded from HP). Is there any reason I need it if the Windows driver is providing good audio?
The audio just stopped. On troubleshooters everything else is apparently OK and the problem does not show up in the device manager. Is there a replaceable part? It is of course just out of warranty.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince Windows did an automatic update to my CompaqCQ58 laptop (running on Windows 8.1) on 16th August I've lost all sound.
I've read Mario's methods for correcting the fault, but my list of "Installed Updates" does not show KB2962407.
There is an update on 16/8/14 numbered KB2962409. Is this the one I should uninstall and hide, or am I going to lose some other function of the laptop?
Surely I am not the only one affected by this glitch. Are HP bombarding Windows with demands for them to correct their fault, or are we all expected to repair our own machines!
My grandfather died and left me his Compaq nx6110, I have installed windows 8.1 but no soundis working.
the xp drivers in the utility sp30130 dont work in win 8.1 ....
the reviews were right, the laptop's speakers are very poor so i thought maybe i could connect it to my 2.1 desktop speakers.
they're still very poor (and low). i tried adjust settings to Stereo Speakers but nothing works. I'm connecting through the head phone port btw.
The High Definition Audio Device ha an error10 , there ios no Driver installed for this device , is there a work around available to get my sound working??

When the computer restarts there is no audio....again. the only way I have found to get it working is the uninstall - re-install of the drivers.
