Yesterday when i went out of work, i closed the lid put it in my backpack and left it there until this morning.
Today when i tried to turn it on nothing seems to happen except the battery light that is blinking when i press the power button.
It blinks fast like 5-7 times changing color between blue and orange, and then just turns off.
I tried removing the battery and turning it on with just the AC adapter - same effect, same blinking.
I tried just with the battery - nothing at all (not even the blinking)
With the battery and the adapter together - blinking.
I have a feeling that yesterday it didn't go to sleep when i closed the lid and what happened is taht it was working closed inside my backpack until it either fried something from the heat, or the battery ended from the fans blowing full on.. But that's just a hunch..
If i hold it with my finger it reads the card, but it won't fixate in there.
If i release the finger the card comes out. On my m1730 i put the card inside, it locks in, i press it, it goes out. So i assume it's a problem with the reader.
I hate the HP logo on the lid that is lit up. Anyone know of a way to turn it off? Its not lit by the LCD backlight since it stays on when the lid id closed and the screen is off.
my brothers been having problems with his HP comp, im not exactly sure on model, ill find out tomarrow. but his problem is, sometimes his screen will like, turn off. the laptop itself is still on, audio will go through and all, but the screen is just black. it doesnt happen too often, like once a week.
I have a x201 cto using 64bits Win 7. The wireless adapter is intel advanced-N 6200. However, I found my wireless always turn off suddenly and I can not turn it on anymore (even using Fn+F5) until reboot.
I installed drivers for GeForce and Nvidia, but when i try to play e.g . Battelfield 4 then laptop use only one graphic card (GeForce 755). How could i turn on second card during the game ??
My HP zd7005qv laptop stopped turning on a little while back, and at first I thought it was a failed HDD. However, I also noticed that when I plug in the power cord, the lights would blink only for a brief moment then immediately go off. So I started fiddling with the cord and I got it in a position where the lights would complete their start-up blink, and when I tried to turn it on it actually started booting. But it stopped as soon as I moved the power cord again.
So I figured that the problem was a bad power jack.. it's pretty common from what I hear. I disassembled it, desoldered the power pin, and soldered a new one I bought off eBay. Now there is absolutely no problem with the power jack but the laptop still wont turn on. I'm afraid I may have screwed something else up while disassembling and reassembling the laptop.
When I press the power button, the lights at the top come on, I hear a light whining buzz and then all the lights shut off. I tried removing the RAM sticks, I even remove the HDD and the same thing happens no matter what. I tried turning it on with just the AC adapter, and I even let the battery charge a bit to try tuning it on with just the battery. I think I may have killed my processor..
Most of the time I use my Envy 15 on my desk and hooked up to an external monitor. In this mode I do not use the laptop screen, so have it set to just display on the external.
However, to turn on the laptop obviously I have to open it up and press the power switch.
What I want to do, is turn it on whilst keeping it closed. I used to be able to do this with my Dell Latitude E6400, as it has an option in the BIOS to turn on automatically when AC is connected. Thus, when I turned it off I would simply unplug power, then to turn it on again would just plug the power back in without having to open lid.
I have looked, and the Envy 15 BIOS is very limited and I don't see a similar option. Is there possibly another solution to get it to turn on when closed?
Went to turn on the laptop and walked away. A minute or two later come back and laptop is not past the BIOS, and a screen talking about a laptop being ran until the battery drained last time it was on. I didn't get a chance to finish reading the screen because the laptop restarted. Nothing shows up on the screen after the restart. I was running off the AC adapter when this happened.
Situation now is pressing the power button causes the power button, media quick play bar. Power notification light , light above mouse pad and the wireless slider to light up. If the AC adapter is plugged in the charge light will light as well. I also hear a fan and i think the HDD. The HDD light doesn't light though. Nothing will show on the screen. stays black. I have tried powering it with AC adapter only, charged battery only, and with a charged battery and AC adapter.
This is an old notebook. A Compaq Presario 1200 Series notbeook (1200 XL-101). When I plug in the power cable, the LED lights up, indicating it's plugged in - however absolutely nothing happens if I hit the power button.
I have tried this with or without the Battery in it. In the past this notebook was able to turn on WITHOUT any battery in it if it was plugged in; being directly powered by the power cable.
Does anyone have any input one where I can begin to fix this? I don't want to bring it in to a shop; I'd rather fix it myself. I'm handy with hardware so I can open and replace parts. I just don't know what is wrong with it.
i have HP pavilion dv9381ae,when i turn on i get only black screen before that i didn't have any problem with my notebook. also when i click quick lunch button my notebook turns on.
I have a HP Compaq 2230S business laptop, but this question could be put to any HP laptop. The fan is constantly running when the laptop is plugged into the power outlet, but as soon as I pull the plug to run on battery power the fan powers down and stops. I re-plug the laptop back in and the fan kicks up again.
This is not good as I almost burned myself when I picked up the laptop after an hour sitting on the table on battery power. The hard drive is right beside the processor, so the laptop gets really hot.
Vista x64 Ultimate is what I'm using at the moment and my power scheme calls for 1% minimum and 100% maximum CPU on battery power.
My notebook (CQ40-314TU) recently encountering a strange problem: When I turn it on, the caps lock led blinks continuously. The screen is black, the power led is on but the HDD led is off. Everything is OK when I press Power button and turn it on again but it repeat next time. It happed randomly and I don't use battery at that time.
I recently had to have the motherboard replaced on my HP Compaq nw8440 due to a bad DMA controller. About a week after I got the board replaced, I turned the machine on one day, and the screen was split, squished and doubled. The HP logo showed up twice; once on the top half on the screen and once on the bottom half of the screen. The GRUB menu and the XP boot screens were the same way, but once windows was up, everything was back to normal!
The next day, I turned it on, and the screen wouldn't come on at all. Everything SEEMED to be working fine (judging by the HD activity), but there was no screen. I pulled the battery, held the power button down, and everything was fine again for about a month.
Last week, I turned it on, and it again forgets to turn on the screen. This has happened two more time since then. Sometimes the backlight comes on; other times, it's totally dead. Pulling the battery and holding the power button fixes it every time. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it's doing this? Will reflashing the BIOS help?
i have a Compaq Mini 110 that i formatted, but after that i can't turn on the wifi switch, i've installed more than five drivers, still no result. i don't know if it's a hardware or a software problem!!here are some pics to illustrate:
I run into my 1st issue in 4 years of ownership. when I turn on my computer (pavillion dv8305) it turns off while booting. Now my battery has been dead for like 2 years but I always have it plugged in anyway when using it. Let's just say if it can't be fixed to turn on how can I access my info on the hdd? I have documents and some files/programs I need.
I have a HP DV6000 Laptop. Im aware of the problems these models have. But this one I have not yet heard of. When I attempt to power it on, the lights turn on for 2 seconds, and it shuts right off. Its not like the Video card issue everyone speaks of. I have extensive technical background, and I have tried taking everything out, and trying each part one by one. I have tried swapping the power button ribbons, I have tried removing the bios battery. I guess im wondering if anyone else has ever been able to figure out whats going wrong with this setup? copuld it be a lack of contact between heat sync and CPU? please give me whatever input you can. I would like to not have to spring for a new Mobo. I can solder, and I am thinking of trying to heat the soldering points with a heat gun maybe. I dont know if thats the problem tho. and also, when the AC adaptor is plugged in, the blue LED surrounding it is on.
I also tried all this (of course)
1. Remove battery. 2. Remove AC power. 3. Remove and reseat your RAM modules. 4. Replace your RAM modules. 5. Hold down your power button for 1 minute. 6. Replace your AC power (not battery) and turn on remove the small bios cmos battery for 15min and then put it back in
My mother was having some trouble with her laptop, and I was wondering if you guys had an idea of what the problem could be. Basically, it won't turn on, even with the battery plugged into the wall. It is completely unresponsive. The last time she used it was last night, and she said that when she was done, she left it on with the screen down and the battery plugged in.
yesterday i open my laptop(model 6530s) and clean motherboard but after setup when i start laptop that time on top right corner showing one message MOUSE NOT DELETED and mouse pad not working any more ..Now what can i doi tryed to open motherboard battery but still same ...
another problem when i watched movie some of website laptop suddenly going off ..also when i try to do somthing on bios that time also going trun off
This machine was not dropped or damaged in any manner to cause this. Last couple of weeks when I open the LCD lid past 90 degrees upright, the LCD screen letters of words turn fuzzy and page colors change.
For example, if I push gently back on the LCD lid of my right now as I type here on this forum page, the white background of this web page turns 2 shades of pink with what looks like large square-like pink pixels. When I let up on the pressure, and the screen returns forward to 85 degress upright, the LCD screen colors of this web page go back to normal -- white is white and the image is sharp.
It is the entire page -- no pressure spots or issue limited to around the edges, its the whole screen that is affected.
LCD going bad or something else? This is definitely related to the angle of the lid and the issue is both position and pressure sensitive.
I'm more of a desktop user but my husband gave me this laptop on January 2007. Since then, I think I only used it for less than 20 hours (we don't have a wireless)... when we got out of town.
The last time I used it, about a year ago, it turned off by itself. I tried to use it again when I got home but the screen is just blank whenever I turn it on. What could be the problem? I don't think it's a good idea to send it for repair to HP as the warranty expired already.
when I turn it on, all the blue lights turn on... but the screen won't therefore I can't use it. Ealier, I hooked up an external monitor but didn't work. Could it be an LCD problem?
The notebook doesn't have any scratch or whatsoever. It still looks like new, yet not working.
I was about to do a factory restore on my computer later in the day, but i was unlucky that the computer stopped working When i turn it on it continuously beeps and won`t turn on, i have picked the option to `start windows normally` and even the option that checks/diagnoses the files (to fix the problem not letting me startup) but when it says `loading files` it starts beeping again and the process stops..
I also read that it `could` be a problem with the RAM, but maybe that was for a different problem or so, but if it is a problem with the RAM, then how can i fix it?
I have a Compaq Presario CQ60. The Display does not appear to be working. When I turn on the laptop the display remains black. No boot up screen, nothing. I can't go into the bios because I have no screen. The screen remains black. The harddrive appears to be working and all other functions appear to be working but I am not sure because I have no screen.
Is this a known issue with the Compaq Presario CQ60?
