Jun 18, 2009My mobo has been going bad. I've been slowly losing functionality. First, my multimedia card slots stopped working, then one usb port, then all usb ports and lastly my bluetooth module is working. I've concluded that I must have a bad mobo.
Is that the right assessment?
If it is and the mobo needs replacing which mobo do I use?
But let me be more specific, there are two types of mobos, a full-featured and a de-featured. I'm positive that i have the full-featured mobo but my problem is finding the right mobo with the right product number. I've searched online and the product numbers are all over the place. What's really confusing me is that I've found the same product numbers being used for both full-featured and de-featured mobos. So this makes it difficult to know which one to buy.
HP/Compaq :: Can't Install Any OS On Presario V5000
May 14, 2010i got a new laptop Compaq Presario V5015US Notebook PC, from a guy on craigslist.
I first noticed a problem when i tried to install windows xp and it stalled during initial setup when it says "setup is starting windows"
I've tried various cd's and other operating systems such as puppy linux and ubunta. They all seem to freeze up when they try to load.
I've ran hard drive and memory tests with various bootable cd rom disks, and tried various partitions and file systems.
I've switched and tested various compatable hardware components such as hard drives, ram, and cdroms.
I've tried various HAL selections while trying to install windows.
I've gutted the machine and booted it up on a piece of cardboard with only bare minimals for hardware.
I'm not 100% sure it's a hardware problem, because I have an older hard drive with windows 98 installed on it, and it loaded up and ran windows 98 perfectly.

Apr 19, 2010I have a Compaq presario V5000 series with windows xp about 4 years old. It has been running fine on wireless for years until a few days ago. I was getting a code 10 but now it doesnt even appear in the device manager anymore. Also, I still get resource conflict screen at startup. If I hit F1 everything starts up as normally but no broadccom!
Heres what I did so far.
Destructive recovery
reinstalled windows
installed updated drivers for broadcom and bios.
defraged
changed wireless card

Jun 27, 2009I have a laptop that crashed and I'm trying to take the steps to figure out what's exactly is wrong with her and how to fix her. I've talked with several computer repair people who have array of prices just to figure out what's wrong and another price to fix it plus parts and I just do not have that money. If anyone can help me out i would appreciate the help I'm trying to get it up and running before school starts.
I have a Compaq Presario V5000 (V5315WM)
Windows XP
On start up it goes to a black screen displaying NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del it goes right back to NTLDR is missing
I've also ran a Primary HDD Self-test and within a few seconds the Test Status came up Fail
I'm not sure what that means as I've read that doesn't always necessarily means the hard drive is fried
Would a recovery disk help and if so are there any free ones to download off the computer?
HP/Compaq :: Presario V5000- No Boot But Will Charge Battery
Mar 19, 2010I have a Compaq Presario V5000 that will not power up. Fans and drives don't spin up. The odd thing is it will charge the battery when hooked up to the power supply. The orange lightning bolt is solid until it is fully charged then it blinks. I have a second power supply and I get the same result.
The laptop does nothing when I remove the battery and try to run in directly on the power supply. I have re-seated the memory, hard drive, DVD drive, WiFi, keyboard, touchpad, monitor, audio board and replaced the power button board.
I also checked the power level going all the way to the processor and all is well.

Apr 27, 2009I've got a HP Pavilion dv6000z notebook. It came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit but, I recently changed the OS to Windows XP Home Edition SP3 32-bit. It was a completely new installation of the OS.
Now, I've got a weird problem. I watch the NBA games on this website for international viewers at ilp.nba.com and it goes through an external company named RayV. They provide their own software to watch the games on, I believe it is a p2p kind-a program [if that helps?]; RayV Viewer. In this, the broadcasted video size is 608x336 or something like that and averages about 800k-1000k speed/bandwidth?. They call it the "HD" version.
The problem is, the video continuously "stutters" every 4-7 seconds.
My room mate has the newer dv5t series notebook with an intel core 2 duo 2.0ghz processor nd an intel integrated graphics adapter [x3100/4500?] nd the video works absolutely perfectly on his notebook. Same goes for my friends Apple Macbook [old "lower spec'd" white version] however with mine it has this continuous stuttering problem. I've tried increasing the process priority through task manager but that didn't help either.
Most HD videos work fine in WMP [.mkv 720p] though they stutter every now nd then too.
Like about every 10 - 13 minutes, maybe a little bigger gap but it happens nonetheless.
I've tried the 182.08 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com & the DOX 182.46 version as well as the 86.38 version from windows update but none of them have been able to solve it. Any ideas as to what I could try?
I'm currently downloading the beta of Windows 7 to see how that works on this notebook, I believe the RC is just about to be released & is on some sites so could give that a shot but would love to solve it in XP itself.

Feb 23, 2010I just got a 2nd gen envy 15 with an ati mobility hd 5830 gpu. I did a clean install of windows 7 x64, and now cant find any drivers online for the 5830. My graphics adapter is listed as the standard vga adapter.

Sep 11, 2009Just got dv3t CTO from HP today. Very nice notebook, except that I miss the touchable playback controls on the body. It would have been very nice if there were a way to quickly control music/video playback. So, I am going to do a clean install on it this weekend, and I am downloading latest drivers from HP site. On HP's site, there are couple of things that I dont know if I need to install after clean install or not.

why are there no drivers for ProtectSmart and Intel Matrix Storage Manager on HP's site? Although, I found something in latest-drivers-for-dv3 thread on this forum, but is there any compatibility issue or other reason for HP to not have those drivers under dv3t support page?

I found drivers to everything besides SOUND CARD.
In my device manager there is 6 unknown devices but only sound doesn't work.

HP's website doesn't have XP drivers for this particular model, but when I searched for "Pavillion dv4" there were over 300 returned, so I am hopeful that a comparable model will have XP drivers available.

Oct 3, 2009I have an HP Pavilion dv7. 4gig ram and an Radeon HD 3200 yes not the best video card in the world but with my laptop I can play games like Stalker, oblivion and the witcher at high settings.
Now my drivers are all out of date but when ever I go to the radeon sites to find a download for an updated video drivers all these different sites just have me download tihs application that find all outdated drivers for you. However in order to have them download the new drivers you have to pay them for the program.
I can not figure out how to get the latest drivers for my laptop.

Feb 20, 2010My windows package died on my hp nx6325 recently, and as I had purchased the machine secondhand, from a private seller now unavailable for comment or advice, I stripped the partition clean, then installed another windows xp build...
I have re-installed the drivers for the touchpad, graphics, broadcom wirelass card...but the audio drivers fail to install and give me sound, because they all get stuck at the end of the installation routine and present me with an error of
'unable to find HDA ausdio bus driver'
To remedy this problem, i read that I should install a separate HP driver called
sp26334. But when I try to install that, i am connected to the HP area online, and then told that as I do not have the same XP operating system that my laptop was originally sold with, that the installation process is now aborted.

Based on dannyres's thread and my other driver threads, I've decided to post the latest drivers that are compatible with the HP ENVY 15 premium series notebooks. It is part of my ongoing, informal commitment to help assist those who had performed clean installs on their HP notebooks. Please let me know if you find newer drivers or other devices so I can update this post!
NOTE: All of these drivers come from HP's website, Microsoft Update, and from other reputable websites (including other manufacturers). All of the drivers here are WHQL Certified or digitally signed drivers, available as of the date when this post was updated. These drivers should be compatible with the notebook series stated above, but I am not responsible for technical difficulties that can occur as a result of improper driver installation!
Following along the same lines as the other driver threads, the process of installing and updating drivers is for ADVANCED/EXPERIENCED users only. Average users can use the drivers located at the HP support portals -- they're the safest and simplest way to go in terms of drivers for your specific model. Some of these drivers may work with notebooks other than the stated brand and models, but this is NOT guaranteed.
