I have an HP Pavilion dv7. 4gig ram and an Radeon HD 3200 yes not the best video card in the world but with my laptop I can play games like Stalker, oblivion and the witcher at high settings.
Now my drivers are all out of date but when ever I go to the radeon sites to find a download for an updated video drivers all these different sites just have me download tihs application that find all outdated drivers for you. However in order to have them download the new drivers you have to pay them for the program.
I can not figure out how to get the latest drivers for my laptop.
My sister has a sony VGN-FZ190, and we just put in a new hard drive...problem is, i need to update the drivers, and i cant figure out what she needs, and what she doesnt. the support site is terrible in contrast to dells site (for my dell E6400), so i am kind of lost.
She definitely needs a GPU firmware update (1.0 in windows experience), but i have no idea what to get...nvidias website wont tell me what to download since its a laptop GPU. Are there any other important firmware updates or anything to install, or anything else i should know about this before i mess around with it? Do sony laptops use Intel matrix storage manager? I know that was an important update for mine.
I was trying to update my drivers, I went to dell website and got a few update for my drivers, but now, my computer won't go into standby or hibernate. If I try to go into standby, after I see the "preparing to standby" my computer goes black and the on light still on, then I can't wake the system up I have to press and hold the power button and reestart. When I try to go into hibernate mode after "preparing to hibernate" I see a blue screen with that says something like "an error has happened and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to my system, the problem could be caused by a new software or driver... etc" After I restart it says, your system has recovered from a serious problem and then it ask me to send a report error, I do and then my web browser and open this: [url]I know the problem was a driver that I was trying to update to make my computer work better but instead it messed up. How do I undo the updated drivers?
I tried downloading the latest Nvidia notebook drivers for x64 and installing on vista x64 and i get this error message
"The Nvidia Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
my macbook has a Nvidia 9400m
How do i install the latest nvidia drivers on my macbook. the ones that came with my are from 12/24/08 (driver ver 7.15.11.7753). And im trying to install 179.48_notebook_winvista_64bit_beta.exe.

has anyone done that before? or is there another way to get updated nvidia drivers to work on my macbook.
Today I updated two Lenovo drivers (ACPI and Sound). After the installation I was asked to restart my Laptop. The restart did not finish and the system showed the bluescreen for a short time and the it restarted with the system recovery. All attempts to repair the system with Windows recovery were not successfull. I am still not able to start my Laptop.
My system is: Lenovo Thinkpad T530 (2429DT7) Windows 7 (64Bit)
Update: NVIDIA released 197.44 drivers for notebooks(with OpenGL 4 support for Fermi GPU), GT300M only gets support up to 3.3
I used the same inf file(changing drivers' version and date, of course) and everything is working as expected. Just follow the same instructions if you wanna try. - 197.44 inf file and instructions: Midtown's 197.44 Instructions.zip (Mirrors: Megaupload, Hotfile) - NVIDIA's original drivers: Download for Windows 7(64-bit)
So I managed to install the new NVIDIA drivers for laptops, 197.16 on my VAIO F after modifying the inf file myself for a few hours. I'm no expert, but I guess it worked out fine.
Here's the link for inf file & instructions: Midtown's 197.16 Instructions.zip
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any hardware/software failure.
After testing the new drivers for 24hrs: - No flicker at low brightness - No uneven brightness after pressing the "Display Off" button - Fan not constantly running - "Normal" temperature compared to Sony's "certified" graphic drivers - No problems after sleep/restart........................
I tried to update some drivers on my laptop and now the network controller is missing on the laptop and I don't have Wi-Fi on it, have to plug in network cable to be able to access the internet. try to get windows to locate it online but cant find it.
I've got a pavilion 15-n086sl. When I update to 8.1 the radeon drivers doesn't work good ! I have this error VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR. Where can I find the right drivers ?
I have a HP 6t-1200 CTO Ultrabook with the Radeon HD 8750M and Intel 4000 switchable graphics.
Problem: When I am operating with Windows 8 they function normally, but upon updating to Windows 8.1 the AMD drivers fail to be able to initiate and D3D.
1. Most current driver is dated 2013-01-14 2. Generic drivers do not recognize the hardware 3. Drivers for other HD 8xxx series based HP laptops do not resolve the problem
Current workaround: Open the Catalyst Control Center and go to switchable graphics application settings under the power tab. Switch anything that uses DirectX to run in power saving mode, this will run those applications using the intel 4000 graphics which has a more current driver that works with Windows 8.1.
Solution: For now I believe that the only solution is to wait for HP and Microsoft to work together on creating a newer driver. Once that newer driver is released it should resolve the problem. The other solution is to permanently stick to Windows 8 and not update to Windows 8.1. This is a bit more difficult though since Microsoft pushes 8.1 very aggressively. There might be a way to make the notifications and automatic attempts to update stop, but I have not looked into that solution.
if you're having problems with the speakers on the dm3. I want you to go to hp's website and update the "bios" its very easy to update it. Just type in the model of you're dm3 and click on drivers, and then click on the correct operating system you have.
Make sure you specify if its 32 bit or 64 bit. Then click on the bios update half way down the page and update it. Then I want you to shut down you're dm3 completely. Once its shut down turn it back on and start hitting the "f-10" key on top of you're keyboard.
Keep hitting it until you see it enter a page that is all text, the bios page. This page will not look like a normal page that you're used to and your mouse will not be active. if it asks you to exit say no. Once you are on this page start to hit any of the letter keys(example- hyfwgsldi, anyone) to produce a beeping sound from your laptop. Now, Pick up your laptop and place the speaker very close to you're ear and listen very carefully if sound is coming out of both sides. There should be sound coming from the left and the right side of the speakers. Now if there is sound only coming from the left side then I have confirmed with a hp level 2 tech that its a hardware problem. This is what is wrong with mine. Either the factory forgot to connect the wires the right side for the speakers or the speaker company messed something up. At this point no software or driver will fix the problem and you need to send you're dm3 in for service or exchange it for another one. Please trust me on this as I spent close to 30 hours and 7 days on the phone with HP.
I just got my HDX16, and was updating it through the HP Update program, and it only had two updates for me and both seemed not to be very important, so I was wondering about updating the BIOS and the different hardware drivers, is this done through HP Update or do I have to go on their website and download them from the site? Also is there a way I can see what version driver I have currently installed?
I have had plans to upgrade for over a year now and it is slowly starting to pan out. Below are the original relevant specs of the notebook when purchased and I do have quite an extensive plan for the upgrade of this great machine.
- Intel Core Duo processor T2400 (1.83-GHz, 667-MHz FSB, 2-MB L2 cache) - 17.0-inch WSXGA+ wide viewing angle BrightView display with 1680 x 1050 resolution and 16M colors - 1GB (1x1GB) 533-MHz DDR2 SDRAM - ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics controller with 256 MB of discrete video memory - 100GB 5400RPM Hard Disk Drive (Hitachi) - 8-cell high capacity Lithium-Ion (68Wh) - 90W AC power adapter
These specs are a bit outdated for today's standards but I hope to bring out the potential that this motherboard can support............
I installed the update for IDT HD Audio (it prompted me to in windows update) and I have been disappointed.
My most important problem: The audio sounds fine though the built-in speakers, however the sound though my headphones (provided by the Independent Dual Headphones profile) is inexcusably quiet. At max volume, it is only at comfortable listening levels. On the other hand, I am glad that it finally switches profiles automatically when I plug in a device via mini-jack.The second issue is the "SRS Premium" feature not working properly: I bought my laptop before they started doing that whole thing, so mine does not have an SRS badge by the speakers like others I have seen, but the update gave me the feature so I just expected that it would work. Thing is, the sliders are all messed up, I can't get it to stay at the percentage that I set it at (screen/app refreshes reset the sliders back to 0%). And even at that, if I manage to get a slider up to 80% whatever, it makes no difference in sound. I tried changing songs in case it wasn't real-time updating but that didn't work either.
Any one BIOS update known to be better than the rest?
I am reading a good deal on the boards, and people like F.16, but I don't know which would work best in my situation. My main issue is being able to see the 3.12 GB of RAM after I put 2 2GB sticks in.
I have XP MCE , T7200 which came with the DV6000T bought in Jan 07.
I just want it to run cooler and faster, so far it has been a workhorse.
it looks like Synaptics has added gesture support for their touchpads with just a software update. [url] The website says the software is backwards compatible with computers purchased in the last year or so. I just got my HDX18t a week ago and can't seem to get it to work.
While installing and 'expanding files', the disk tray popped open at 21%. I pushed it back in, waited an hour, and it never went past 21% (Though the HDD light was chugging along like it was doing something). I restarted and now I'm waiting to roll back to Vista and start over. Anyone else have a similar issue on a Dv3?
Update: I ran the disk again after rolling back and it gave me the same problem. An error message pops up after it says "Windows needs to be restarted". That message is one of those 0.5second messages you can't really read, then the tray pops open, and windows restarts.
HP has posted a BIOS update on their website for the DV6-2190US laptop. The update is listed as F.1AA and claims to "improve system fan behavior". This laptop has a quad core I7, 720 QM clarksfield processor so anything to better control heat would be good to consider. I am usually never hesitiant to update a BIOS, even on the numerous laptops I have owned, but....I have noticed HP had some of their BIOS updates bricking their laptop lately.
Has anyone flashed their DV6-2190 with this update yet?
Has HP posted any information on upgrading to Vista SP2? When Vista SP1 came out HP posted some good info including precautions to take and an FAQ about drivers etc. Now that Vista SP2 is available I was hoping to see something similar.
I have a weird behavior of my brand new HP HDX18 (running Windows Vista 64 bit).
The Laptop does not play BluRay DVDs any more. It only worked two times. I can access the BluRay file system so I assume that the BluRay drive is working. Then trying to watch the movie with either HP MediaSmart or Windows Media Center, both programs hang and need to be stopped via Task Manager.
HP support recommended a video driver update - but...
When I try to install the recommended update of the display driver from the HP HDX18 support site, it installs and the laptop remains working (I hear sounds when receiving new emails or when wiping my finger on the finger print sensor), but the result is simply a black screen. Same thing when using the nvidia beta drivers for notebook chips.
I tried to first switch to Standard VGA, then removing the old nvidia package, then installing the new driver. Same result: A black screen.
All I can do is doing a system recovery to get a working display again.
I did the BIOS update that I downloaded from the HP site as well. I currently have the Spyder software for screen calibration running.
HP support also recommended a "hard reset" of my windows installation, but since I just finished the complete installation of all programs I need, this is not what I really want.
I purchased an HP G70T directly from hp.com for my husband. I forgot to add the dedicated NVIDIA 256mb graphic card to my order. He's has the notebook for about a week now, and we're looking to see about getting the graphic card added to the notebook. I have contacted hp.com, but I'm getting conflicting answers. One technical support person emailed to say that a graphic card cannot be added after purchase. Another emailed me the link to the HP Parts Store, saying that I could purchase the graphic card there.
So, which is it? Can a dedicated graphic card be added to the HP G70T? Or would I have to send the laptop back as a return/exchange in order to get a G70T *with* the dedicated graphic card?
Hp update popped up on my DV5t-1000 and asked me if I want to update the bios version. I downloaded it, but while the installation an error occurred and it dumped all the memory to the hard drive. After a restart, it does not even show the hp logo only a black screen. All the led lights are on not blinking.
