My laptop model is HP Pavilion g4 2235dx. I use windows7 32-bit. It has 3 usb ports. It contains one usb port it's right side & two others contain it's left side. In this way right side usb port is working properly but two others usb port of left side is not working.
View 2 RepliesI have the Pavilion g7-2235dx with Windows 8.1 operating system. Nearly every automatic update messes up my ability to get on the internet. The only way I can connect is to uninstall all of the updates. The icons on my desktop also stopped working. When I click on them, it goes right back to desktop. Can't pin them to the taskbar either. The ones on the taskbar won't open by clicking on them either. Have to right click and tell it to open. Also problem getting my Norton anti-virus to open. Says it working but can't open it.

There is absolutely no signs of life from it at all, regardless of whether I connect USB 2 or 3 devices, usb drives etc. I've tried updating BIOS and CHIPSETS to absolutely no success.

Factory restore and a chipset driver worked and it started working. my bad, i installed a graphics driver, that took me back to sqaure one. HDMI port on the laptop is not working. HDMI cable and TV HDMI port is all working.i ran HP support assistant and it shows all required updates are in place. though it worked in between, it should be an issue with the chipset driver.

She has been using the HDMI port to connect an external monitor at home, but now it's not working anymore.
I tried to use different cable on different monitor, and they seem to have the same problem, it' displayed " no signal" and the laptop can't detect the display also.
It works when I connect on the Display Port.
I buy this wonderful notebook with win 8.1 , all works fine, but... the hdmi port seems is not working... nothing appens when i plug the hdmi cable... the tv doesn't recognize the pc... i don't think is a broken port, i think some driver or bios misconfiguration... I used to use my eSATA port every day with a few different devices. I started to have an overheating problem, so Dell replaced the motherboard and graphics card yesterday.
Of course, that means I lost all my BIOS settings. I'm pretty sure I have them back to where they should be (RAID mode on the SATA controller, eSATA port enabled), yet the eSATA port doesn't see a damned thing connected to it.
Every other piece of hardware is exactly the same as it was before. Any ideas as to what I might be missing?

Talked with Dell and they sent me a replacement docking station but the same issue surfaced. Looked at the Device Manager and no extra USB ports show up when connected to the docking station. The side laptop USB works fine when the docking station is connected.

Today i have found that when plugging the mouse in one of the USB ports on the right side .. it does not work but the mouse gives light .

I bought my lenovo G460 with nvidia M310 (with hdmi) this year and have not been able to get the hdmi port to work.
I have two lcd displays one in our lab and another one at home (LG 2361V-PF) which have hdmi connections in the back.
In the beginning I was able to get my notebook to work on the display in our office. However, now both displays (work+home) are not working.
I have tried to reinstall latest nvidia drivers as of 2010-11-02 (ver. 8.16.11.8990) from lenovo, completely restore Operating system and tried different hdmi cables.
I have even tried to use original drivers and also downgrade that to a lower version all with no luck.
I have even taken my LG LCD display to the LG After Service Warranty office and have found no issues wrong with the Monitor itself.
I am sure I have taken all the trouble-shooting methods into consideration so a simple question is... Is the hdmi port defective?

On windows 8 they dont. If i install the latest drivers, they work until i reboot the laptop after which they are back to not working.
Is this laptop just not Win8 compatible?
I have a ThinkPad X240 laptop with Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 installed. Sound plays just fine from the laptop's speakers, and when I plug external speakers into the laptop's 3.5mm audio port they work just fine too. when the laptop is docked in my Ultra Dock 90W docking station and the external speakers cable is plugged into the dock's audio port, no sound is heard. If I'm playing music through the laptop's speakers, as soon as I plug a cable into the dock's audio port no sound is heard. I can still use the laptop's audio port to connect external speakers, but that defeats the object of having an audio port on the Ultra Dock.
The Ultra Dock has (I believe) the latest firmware installed (version 2.22.000) and I have the latest audio drivers installed: in Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Realtek High Definition Audio > Driver version is 6.0.1.7188 which is the latest available from Lenovo Support downloads. What do I need to do to get the Ultra Dock's audio port working? I mistakenly posted this message on the "X Series tablet ThinkPad Laptops" board.
what COM port my serial port is on my XPS M1710. Is there a program that I can find all this out in Windows that I just never knew about?
View 12 Replies View RelatedThinking about getting one to go with my m4500 which is on order. Reviews seem ok though some complain it's bulky and other complained the release mechanism wasn't great. Worst was that someone said their comp wouldn't boot when docked.
Can anyone share experience and/or high res pics of what one looks like?
Here's my story and, let's say, my analysis:
I bought a generic 2 HD sata2 RAID1 enclosure based on the chipset Silicon Image SteelVine 5744. It can be used in USB or eSATA2. This embedded chipset (named SiL5744) is known (understand "claimed") to auto-handle Sata I/II and host sata2 controllers that not support the port multiplier feature. The HD are two Samsung F1 1To. There's no jumper to rollback to SATA 1.5Go on them, you can only do it by flashing the HD's bios, however we don't need to do it as I wrote just before, the SiL5744 supports SATA 3Go natively.
The enclosure works pretty well with USB, but *not* in eSATA : the E6500 freezes/hangs just after the POST step (a potential driver issue with the installed vista 64bits is not the reason then). As soon has I disconnect the eSATA cable, the system recovers and continues as normal.
What I've tried/done so far :
Both E6500's BIOS SATA mode AHCI and IRRT mode were tested,
Intel Matrix driver and software was updated to the latest 8.7.0.1007 version (AHCI and IRRT),
The SiL5744 chip was upgraded to its latest firmware as well (in case of...)
In order to verify the esata cable, the HDs and the enclosure itself, I succeed to :
- Use the enclosure's RAID1 feature when using the USB connection, I could partition,format, and read/write on the logical volume
- directly connect *one* HD (Samsung F1 1To) to the E6500's esata port -(I have a sata2esata cable), Vista installed it and I was able to use it as normal, even the hotswap feature seemed to work fine (I unkindly removed it). I could so test both HD individually this way... On the enclosure hardware side, everything looks fine then.
An IMPORTANT thing : The E6500's ICH8/9-M sata host controller seems to support the Port Multiplier feature *ONLY* on sata port 0 -as a bubble message from the Intel Matrix soft sometimes shows up-, but this is exactly where the internal HD is plugged on the motherboard I found nowhere you can change the internal sata port ID (switch,bios,ect...). I think this is the key of the problem that seems to be a dumb port conflict, because the esata port is in fact the port sata 4 (the DVDRW drive is sata 1, dock's esata is 5 for instance). If somebody knows how to swap the sata port ID, I think I won't be toasted !
i have a Dell Inspirion 2600 just did a clean wipe and install of windows xp all the new updates and all the drivers from the disc and checked for others on Dells site.
The usb ports will read a device will pull info off my memory stick and when i plug in my device i scan vehicles. But i show i have no com ports but com port 3 which is assigned to the modem.
I have checked the bios setting tried to created a port in the irq address with no progress.
I dont know what to do now someone suggested usinga PCMCIA card to set up com ports is there a fix to this??
