HP Pavilion 15 Audio :: Windows 8.1 - Can't Hear Skype Calls When Minimised
Jul 11, 2014
I just brought a Hp Pavillion 15 Notebook (Windows 8.1), and its been working fine. Ive been in a skype call with my friends while playing a game (meaning skype is minimised). But all of a sudden, the sound stops and i can hear my game, but not skype. I maximised skype and then my friends could hear me and i could hear them, but everytime i minimise skype i cant hear them and they can't hear me. I tried this with spotify, and i could hear the music even when spotify was minimised.
From last few weeks, I am facing a problem, I am unable to hear the sound, once I open the laptop, I can hear the sound for few minutes after that their is no sound, I am using (hp envy beta) window 8.
I have the HP- Pavilion g7 Notebook and have not had any problems until I was getting a Blue Screen of death after an update of Skype got on my computer. I had to do a system recovery several times until I found out this is a problem apparently caused by skype, now skype wants to update again and windows7 doesn't like it at all, the machine crashes again. Last resort, I downloaded an older verson of skype which works fine but in the long run doesn't solve the problem. If there is a fix what is it, I have not gotten any suggestions from skype, to get this resolved. The only thing I hear it might be related to some driver that has not been updated. What can I do?
Hopefully that works lol. I'll summarize in case it doesn't... or in case you don't want to read the whole thing. It's basically the typical, not-so-helpful, Microsoft Employee response... Nothing more needs to be said =P.
Basically... I upgraded to Windows 7 (64 bit, upgraded from Vista) on Tuesday. Started actually using my computer on Wednesday, and immediately noticed a lot of issues.
Biggest one was that Skype would freeze after using it for about 30 sec - 1 min. I would shut it down, restart the program, and it wouldn't start up (usually; if it would start up, it would freeze almost immediately after).
I eventually just ignored the issue, and continued using my computer. One time after this problem with Skype occurred, I tried to open Steam to try to play Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and steam wouldn't open .....
I have updated my HP Pavilion G6 2242sf to Windows 8.1 and the sound quality is not as good as in Windows 8 : In the Dolby control panel the equalizer works but switch the Dolby Advanced Audio checkbox has no effect so there is no more surround virtualization and the 3 effects "Movie", " Music", and "Voice" are not working anymore. Now my laptop speakers sounds choppy.
I have a HP Pavilion G6-2252sa Notebook running Windows 8 and I have just installed 8.1. All is OK, except the equalizer function in Dolby Advanced Audio V2 is no longer working. You can still move the equalizer sliders but the actual sound quality remains the same. It just sounds flat as if all sliders are permanently set at zero.
It's about my old notebook, hp pavilion dv7 1130el bought 5 years ago, it always wokerd fine but now its screen goes black without reasons... at first I thought it might be overheating, but that's totally random:
-sometimes works even when is hot -sometimes goes blackafter I turn it on and then open google -sometimes works for a while, when its not hot, and then goes black
I don't have a second monitor to connect it, but even if the screen goes black I can still hear the music from youtube, so I guess it's just the screen.
HP Pavilion dv7 1130el, Windows 7 ultimate, runned fine for a year with this OS.
I've recently installed windows 8.1 and now have no sound. The speaker icon in the bottom right corner has a small red x on it, when i have the mouse over it, it says 'no audio output device is installed'. I found that updating the driver in sounds via the at control panel but this the said:
'Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it
IDT HD Audio CODEC
A device attached to the system is not functioning'...
Updated pc to Windows 8.1 today and now have no sound at all and the pc says no headphones or speakers are plugged in and detection finds no problem and also the AMD 'properties' say sevice is working properly (I have no back drivers to revert back to liste)

I have not used my webcam for a while, but recently updated Skype. When I went to use the web cam it was not detected. When I try Cyberlink Ucam it says no webcam detected. I checked the driver in Device Manager and it is ok. I used HP Recovery Manager and reinstalled the Cyberlink software but it is still undetected. Is there some keyboard switch for the camera or something simple that I am missing??
laptop hp pavilion ze 4800 windows 7 ultimate...My hp pavillion ze 4800 has not sound with windows 7 ultimate, I know that HP support service does not include drivers for windows 7 on this product only for windows xp. Nevertheless this Laptop has enough resources to run a windows 7 operating system except for the video card, but it's not much important for I use it to make common task only, moreover microsoft stopped supporting windows xp and if this Hp can take a windows 7 So why to make it useless.the audio driver for my laptop running windows seven.
Recently I moved to windwos 8.1 from windwos 7 and i have hp pavilion dv6-6b19ej, before when i was using windwos7 beats audio was working perfectly and i was able to enable and disable them usnig (fn+b). My computer gets all current HP/Microsoft updates automatically. My volume control moves up and down automatically. I can choose mute and it will not stay muted. I have turned off my built-in microphone. I had to unistall my HP SmartMenu controls because the buttons wouldn't respond and the on-screen volume display would activate every time the windows volume control would move causing me not to be able to play any games. I have ran MSE and MalwareBytes and have not found any viruses or ad/spyware that is causing the trouble. I don't' know what to do..I really don't want to have to go through the process of windows re-install or game re-installing.
I have an HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b002ev with Windows 8.1. I experience the following problem. Sometimes I have audio and sometimes I don't, without a particular pattern. I may watch a video with no problem, but on the next video the sound will be off. I have tried everything. Uninstalling the IDT codec and re-installing it and un-checking the exclusive mode. The same thing happens even after installing the latest IDT Codec (6.10.6425.0). When audio is off, I'm trying to test the speakers and the message that this device is being used by another application, is appearing.
I have an HP Pavilion 15z p000 with Beats Audio running Windows 8.1. I want to upgrade the memory (RAM), but I don't see any access panels on the underside of the notebook that would make it easy to change the memory cards. I didn't find any diagrams or instructions in the user manual, and I haven't found any way videos on the internet. I'm pretty handy with computers and upgrading hardware, so I'm not afraid of taking things apart and putting them back together.
The speakers on my laptop have stopped working all of a sudden! But the headphones do though there is a low buzzing sound when i use them. When in control plan to look at the problem it tells me they are working. Laptop is only a few months old!
The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..
