Recently, the sound has become unrepsonsive and the speakers will not play any sound on my laptop unless I restart it every time I use it after it has gone to sleep.
Also, the orange button on the mute button does not light up when the speakers are not working.

My problem is that my audio shuts off after a few minutes, then if I want it back I have to restart the PC and it appears fine, but imagine having to restart your computer after initially powering up EVERY time you want to use the PC. The Support assistant says my drivers are up to date which may be the problem due to the fact that I did not have this issue until recently which tells me that one of the automatic updates caused this problem.
Additionally, a problem that was never fixed was that my internet inexplicably drops for no apparent reason. Sporadic problem and has nothing to do with my connection as it as occurred in multiple physical locations. Opening up Internet explorer and clicking "fix connection" works after a few minutes, but this is only a bandaid solution.

While plugged in, a hard restart only turns the fan on after a few seconds and the battery indicator light blinks fast 7 times, then pauses, then repeats continuously. Once the battery runs down, a hard restart only gets a single orange blink and then nothing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 yr old Pavillion G7-1329 wm with Windows 7. I use Windows antivirus and firewall along with Malwarebytes for spyware. I have noticed recently when I download or update anything, instead of restarting as before, it hangs up and after about 5 minutes it goes into hibernate and won't come out of it.
I have to do a hard power off.
I have done a couple of restore points but it doesn't solve the problem.
I do use a cooling fan to prevent overheating although it does still get quite warm.
I have a HP 15-r011dx Notebook PC with windows 8.1 and when on youtube or CNN videos, the speakers carack and pop. The commercials that CNN play prior to the story are fine as is a DVD or my loaded music. I relly do not want to reinstall. I have had the computer 3 weeks and I am not sure if it has been there from the beginning. I have updated everything from HP including BIOS and have tried a different browser and adjusted volume levels. Windows has done updates.

The problem is that while watching online video(youtube) through the web browsers, first of all the video playing smoothly, but after a few seconds, the video stops a while, and then continue play but the video is freeze while the audio works fine, then it completely stops. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC, model 15-e055st, which I purchased two months ago with Windows 8 pre-installed. I susequently upgraded the operating system to Windows 8.1 and all seemed to work OK. I then used the HP Support Assistant to do some important updates, which included the BIOS and other software. Following the HP update the computer would not Shut Down or Sleep, but Restart worked OK. When I attempt to Shut Down or Sleep, the screen goes black but the power light and the wifi light on the keyboard remain on and the fan is still operating. The machine will not recover from this situation without me first doing a hard reset by keeping the power button pressed for about five seconds.
I trıed restoring the software to the condition prior to the HP update but the problem still existed. Two days ago I refreshed the computer, which rolled the operating system back from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.0 but the Shut Down/Sleep problem is still there.

When I restart my computer, my sound works for an hour or two and then suddenly shuts off. It does this with or without headphones. It works again as soon as I restart the computer, but I'd really love not to have to restart my computer every hour just to get the sound to work.
Also- downloading Windows 8 isn't an option as a lot of my work is incompatible with windows 8.
I have an HP Pavilion g6-1d73us laptop and although my headphones work properly the speakers do not. This is a recent problem. I have tried troubleshooting with windows troubleshooter with no results. I have checked all the drivers for audio and they check out fine. I have tried driver software with no success. Windows Media Player does not work. I get an error message when I try to use it. What else can I try?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire 5517 running Windows 7. When on battery power, the computer will not go to sleep if it is playing any audio or video file through the speakers. Pause the stream and the computer will sleep as normal on power saver options, but if I leave it playing on battery power computer will not sleep or hibernate. When battery reaches critical level computer will not shut down and I have to restart windows later. This seems like a problem with a driver.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new L540 that arrived inoperatve - power button did not work. Sent it back to depot, and after 2 weeks received it back with a new system board and 3 other parts replaced. After loading Windows 7 without any problems, the first time I went to reboot I found that it hangs after shutting down - in other words, it appears to be shut down, but backlight is still on and there it sits, until I hold power button for 4 seconds. I can hear (very faintly) 5 short beeps as soon as it is down. If I try it in safe mode, the 5 beeps are at full volume.
If I choose "shutdown," it shuts down fine, and comes back up fine after hitting the power button. No difference whether it is on battery, AC, or AC with no battery installed.
I have done all updates including the BIOS, no difference. I have pulled the CMOS battery to reset BIOS settings to defaults.
The fan, and I guess the system, does not turn off when going into sleep mode after the set 10 min of no activity but will if I go to sleep mode manually. I have already had to have a replacement fan after a year which I am sure was due to this issue.

I have a Inspiron 14R for about a year and half now. This computer has done this since day one for some reason:
When I put the 14R in SLEEP mode, the computer remains in sleep mode for about 2-3 hours, then the computer shuts itself off, or goes into hibernation mode on it's own. The computer has Windows 7 Premiuim.
I have the power saving modes all set too SLEEP, and none in hibernation in any of the selections. I cannot for the life of me why this computer does this. I have a Lenovo I bought about a year later using Windows 7 Premium with all the same settings in the POWER section, and while in sleep mode, it STAYS in SLEEP mode, no matter the length of time in that mode. Any setting I need to turn off, and where to find it?
No sound from my PC. This problem occured weeks ago and no fix or notification from HP.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was watching something online when the sound became distorted (has happened before) so turned off G6 laptop and restatred worked well for 20 minutes and then it went all distorted again. Turned it off again and started it up again however this time the sound completely vanished. Tried iTunes, internet, and a movie on laptop and nothing is working anymore. Have checked all the easy sound things making sure I didn't turn it off but nope it all says device is working.

My dell xps 13 turns off when I press restart, and then never comes back on. If I hit power the keyboard flashes once and then nothing. It starts back up maybe one out of every 50 attempts. I am very disappointed in this product

Have tried and checked several setting etc. but cannot correct this problem. I can't set my sound default. I recently got my computer updated and a few hours later, my sound stopped working, then my videos, too. I reinstalled my computer, but when it got to the point where you set sound defult, it wouldn't work. The sections "Configure" and "Properties" worked, but "Set Default" wouldn't. I am so frustrated because I need sound and video to do a lot of things on my computer.
