Lenovo U/S Series :: U530 - Webcam Not Working / Drivers Disappearing
Oct 2, 2014
I recently got this computer. When I got it, i tried the webcam and it worked ok. The second time I tried to use it, with the "Camera" Windows app, I get a message that says "To get started, connect a camera".
I googled for solutions and discovered that the "Imaging devices" category had disappeared from the Device Manager.
I downloaded several drivers, and the only one that worked was this one. After installing it, the camera worked ok, and the "Imaging devices" reappeared in the device manager. However, after rebooting the computer, the camera stopped working again and the "imaging devices" category disappeared as well.
This is a temporal solution because everytime I want to use the camera I have to install the drivers first, knowing that sooner or later the camera will stop working and the device will not be recognized by Windows anymore.
I have a U530. I had to restore the laptop to factory configuration. However, after the restore the MMC slot and the USB slots do not work properly. The MMC slot does not work at all. The USB slots will work with newer sticks (3.0?), but not older sticks that I have (which are properly recognized by all other PCs I have running 8.1). I went to the support site and installed the "latest" drivers, but they did not resolve the problem. I tried installing the latest firmware, but it returned "LoadImage() Failed! Access Denied. Error: Update BIOS Failed! Unload Image() Failed! Invalid Parameter. InsydeH20 - Secure Flash. Error: Firmware update failed!!! Please press any key to reset system......"
I've already spent the time to reinstall all my software and really do not have the time to try another reset to factory configuration. How to get my MMC and USB slots working properly.
I just got this U530 and wanted to use a dual monitor setup with a monitor that only supports DVI inputs (Samsung SyncMaster BX2335). I bought a cable for the purpose: an HDMI to DVI-D cable. I cannot seem to get the laptop to recognize that there is a monitor attached, however.
Am I going to have to use a port replicator instead or use some sort of USB 3 to DVI setup? I have no other video output options built into this computer.
I just got a new Ideapad U530 touchscreen laptop yesterday. After a few minutes the keyboard stops working. I uninstalled a few of the Lenovo multimedia programs I don't need. Is there a bios update or a driver I should update after purchase?
Before the end of 2013 I bought an Ideapad U530 Touch for school and it's been working fine up until a few days ago when the backlight for the left most CTRL key stopped working and shut off completely. Every other key on the board is fine, except for this one. Is there any easy to fix to this problem, or do I need to send the entire computer back?
Just bought a U530 Touch ultrabook (from Lenovo Canada website) and waiting for arrival. The configuration comes with a "Hybrid 500G 5400RPM SSHD(8G)". I want to install an larger capacity SSD drive, either replacing the original HDD or as an additional drive. I may buy a 2.5" SSD (7mm) or I might buy a mSATA SSD (about 256 GB).
I have several questions.
1. Does this version of the U530 have an mSATA slot to install an mSATA SSD as an additional drive?
2. Can I replace the original HDD with a 2.5" SSD (as the only drive) and migrate everything (including Windows 8 OS) to the SSD? If so, please provide specific instructions.
3. Can I replace the original HDD with an mSATA SSD (as the only drive) and migrate everything (including Windows 8 OS) to the SSD? This would mean leaving the space of the original HDD empty. If so, please provide specific instructions.
The truth is I had assumed all U530s would come with an mSATA connection/slot since other configurations can come with a 1TB HDD + 16GB SSD. It was only after reading this forum that I realize that may not be true. I am anxious to buy the SSD but need these answers. I'm interested in the mSATA SDD as the only drive for the weight savings and the lower running temperatures and longer battery life.
Recently I bought a Y500. After installing the Windows 7 X64 and start a conversation on Skype fot the first time webcam worked without problem. After two days I tried to make a video call but the camera does not start ... Circle rotates the camera LED lights up but the screen is black.
I tried the site. Testmycam.com has image but blurred. Reinstalling drivers, i installed an old version of Skype version 4.2 but problem not resolved...
i recently bought my W520 and everything works just fine - except for the internal webcam.
I installed the drivers (current version) from the Lenovo web site but the webcam won't turn on. The green just wouldn't turn on and when I press Fn+F6 the communication tool shows up without any webcam video. Same thing for skype or any other webcam tool.
Sometimes after booting it works for a few seconds but then the image freezes and it won't start again until after several system restarts.
System Details:
Thinkpad W520 (4276), Core i7-2760QM Windows 7 64 Bit Professional
I purchased the lenovo ideapad u530 about 6 months ago. Recently, there has been a loud whirring/buzzing noise coming from the laptop (possibly the fan?). It is most noticeable at the bottom near the vents. There seems to be no correlation between what I do on the laptop and the noise.
Battery died on my old laptop and I was told it was because I have it always plug in to the electricity outlet. I don't want this to happen in this new laptop (U-530), but everytime I unplug it from the electricity, the screen goes dark. It is very difficult to use it like that. What should I do to brighten the screen each time I use it without electricity?
I have a new U530 I just bought. I need windows 7, so I did a downgrade. I downloaded all the Win7 drivers, and managed to make everything happy except no Wifi. The Win7 drivers on the support site don't have the the hardware ID for this wifi card. In windows 8 it shows Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter, with PCVEN)14E4&DEV_43B1&SUBSYS_062E17AA&REV_03, which does not show up in the .inf file for the drivers that install from the wl05w7.exe driver file. Also the setup quits without graceful finish, even if I right click and do run as administrator.
I purchased two of these laptops, but one needs to work with Win 7. I'm willing to switch out the wifi card if you have something that works with Win 7.
I upgraded my w520 from Win 7 to Win 8 last year with zero problems. Now I upgraded my W520 Win 8 to Win 8.1 via the store download. Except the webcam everything works fine.
In e.g. the Skype desktop application, Google Hangouts or the camera app, the built in webcam no longer works.
The green light turns on, but I just get the crossed out camra icon in e.g. the Skype video options. No video.
I see there are no drivers yet for Win 8.1 on the Lenovo support site for the w520 camera. In device manager it still shows the 2011 camera driver 1.1.0.1147 and says "This device is working properly."
But it does not work properly. How to get the camera to work or is it just a matter of waiting for a driver to be released eventually?
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, camera is enabled in the Bios and permissions are set to give Skype and the camera app access to the camera. I also tried the W530 drives as was suggested elsewhere.
Windows doesn't recognize that my U530 Touch Laptop has a touch screen. Worked okay for the first couple of months. I've tried looking for hardware updates and restarting. Computer is only a few months old, so this stinks.
I bought this computer on Jan. 1st and so far I love it, however, a few days ago I noticed that everytime I connect or disconnect my charger the screen goes black for a few seconds. It's not the worse problem however it is extremely annoying! I tried checking both the intel graphics settings and power management settings to see if an adjudtment would work but it has not.
have Dell Laptop Series N5050 with Window 7 Home basic. Its Webcam Drivers are not working properly. I want to have a Video Chat but due to the webcam problems I am unable to do so. I use Dell drivers to update them but No solution found.
Does anyone know how to prevent the NVidia drivers from disappearing?
I just installed 32bit vista and installed the drivers. Shortly afterwards, they disappeared and only the standard vga adapter was listed. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers again.
Again, the 160M was listed correctly. I then installed PowerDVD which wouldn't play. I went back to the adapter and it had reverted back to Standard VGA
I have an HP Pavilion Sleekbook Touchsmart 14-B132TX. My sound disappeared while I was working using it about a month ago. I phoned HP Hotline and the Tech Support told me to just uninstall it from Device Manager and upon restart, the driver will install automatically. Which I did.
The sound did come back but again it disappeared after about 15 minutes of use, so I called tech support again and they gave me links to HP Support for drivers to download and install which I did and restarted the computer and the sound came back again. BUT AGAIN, the sound disappeared. I phoned tech support and they told me to just do a system restore which I did and the sound came back again. But it again disappeared after about just 7 minutes of use.
These are the drivers I installed from HP's website: sp60642, sp64082, sp60464 and sp64031. After so many reinstallation of drivers. I cleaned my notebook with CCleaner and went to HP Support Assistant in the hope of getting a solution, there was an instruction there to download the QUALCOMM Atheros driver, and I installed again the said driver..The sound reappeared after restarting. AND AGAIN, it disappeared after just using the laptop for just about 3 minutes. This laptop is quite new, just bought it 10 months ago. I'm using the Windows 8 OS.
My webcam has been working fine with all programs (skype, aim, websites, etc) until yesterday. Now, it just shows a black sceen and when I try to access it on websites I get error messages saying the webcam can not be found. When I look under my devices, it says the webcam is installed and my drivers are up to date. I tried reinstalling the drivers but that didn't work.
I just bought a T430u but I cannot get the WebCam to work properly. When I use for example the Windows 8 camera app or Skype the green light next to the WebCam turns on but instead of seeing me on the screen I just find a grey picture with a white crossed out camera.
The 720p webcam in my new Edge E430 (I just got it last Thursday) is not working properly. When I use the Communications Utility or Skype, the green light next to the webcam turns on, but the image window only shows a completely black image. Also, when I increase the brightness or contrast settings of the webcam, the image becomes completely gray or completely white.
The Device Manager shows two devices - the "Integrated Camera" and the "Virtual Camera." I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the webcam drivers, but that hasn't worked. What else can I do?
I have had my Y510 for 5 weeks. Last week I began getting a message that said:Failed to get data from camera. The camera may have been unplugged or busy whenever I starting my computer.
At the time no program was running that was using the webcam and I hadn't disable it. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it didn't fix the problem so, I downloaded and installed Veriface III. Now the webcam image is upside down and doesn't work in the VideoChat program that I used it in previously. My OS is Vista.
I have tried in Windows 7 64bit and 8 64bit and have had no luck.
I have googled all over and found some hints on this forum to try installing Communication Manager, but it does not solve anything. It's like the camera is not seen.
I know the camera is not broken or disconnected because LINUX of all things can see it and use it.
On the X201 page there are no drivers for the camera at all, only the communication manager install. For Win 8 it is listed that the drivers are built into Windows 8, but as far as I can tell this is not the case, unless i am doing something wrong?
How to get working webcam with X201 at all in Windows?
I was setup windows 8.1 pro 64-bit in my lenovo laptop B590 Model 20206 but when run windows camera app and the skype i get this message "To get started, connect a camera"... what should i do ?
I just upgraded to windows 8 pro x64 on my Lenovo V570 and it can't find the driver for my built in webcam. My girlfriend is moving away for 6 months starting next week and the webcam is really important for us to stay in touch.
