Lenovo U/S Series :: Windows Doesn't Recognize That U530 Has Touch Screen
May 28, 2014Windows doesn't recognize that my U530 Touch Laptop has a touch screen. Worked okay for the first couple of months. I've tried looking for hardware updates and restarting. Computer is only a few months old, so this stinks.

Aug 15, 2014I just got this U530 and wanted to use a dual monitor setup with a monitor that only supports DVI inputs (Samsung SyncMaster BX2335). I bought a cable for the purpose: an HDMI to DVI-D cable. I cannot seem to get the laptop to recognize that there is a monitor attached, however.
Am I going to have to use a port replicator instead or use some sort of USB 3 to DVI setup? I have no other video output options built into this computer.

Dec 27, 2013I have a P400 Touch that was purchased just a few months ago (February I believe) and it's been great so far. This past month, however, I haven't used it (until now) and noticed that my battery icon is stuck on "36% available (plugged in, charging)" but the thing is it's not charging whatsoever. What's worse is that if/when I pull the adapter from the laptop, it cuts off completely. The battery indicator light is steady white when the adapter is plugged in as well.

Not like where it says "plugged in, not charging" but the battery isn't getting any power, when I plug my charger into the port on the side I noticed that the battery light that normally . I took it apart and I checked where you plug it in because I found that this is a common problem with laptops, but it's fine.

Jan 7, 2014Just bought a U530 Touch ultrabook (from Lenovo Canada website) and waiting for arrival. The configuration comes with a "Hybrid 500G 5400RPM SSHD(8G)". I want to install an larger capacity SSD drive, either replacing the original HDD or as an additional drive. I may buy a 2.5" SSD (7mm) or I might buy a mSATA SSD (about 256 GB).
I have several questions.
1. Does this version of the U530 have an mSATA slot to install an mSATA SSD as an additional drive?
2. Can I replace the original HDD with a 2.5" SSD (as the only drive) and migrate everything (including Windows 8 OS) to the SSD? If so, please provide specific instructions.

The truth is I had assumed all U530s would come with an mSATA connection/slot since other configurations can come with a 1TB HDD + 16GB SSD. It was only after reading this forum that I realize that may not be true. I am anxious to buy the SSD but need these answers. I'm interested in the mSATA SDD as the only drive for the weight savings and the lower running temperatures and longer battery life.

Oct 2, 2014I recently got this computer. When I got it, i tried the webcam and it worked ok. The second time I tried to use it, with the "Camera" Windows app, I get a message that says "To get started, connect a camera".
I googled for solutions and discovered that the "Imaging devices" category had disappeared from the Device Manager.
I downloaded several drivers, and the only one that worked was this one. After installing it, the camera worked ok, and the "Imaging devices" reappeared in the device manager. However, after rebooting the computer, the camera stopped working again and the "imaging devices" category disappeared as well.
This is a temporal solution because everytime I want to use the camera I have to install the drivers first, knowing that sooner or later the camera will stop working and the device will not be recognized by Windows anymore.

Sep 15, 2014I have a U530. I had to restore the laptop to factory configuration. However, after the restore the MMC slot and the USB slots do not work properly. The MMC slot does not work at all. The USB slots will work with newer sticks (3.0?), but not older sticks that I have (which are properly recognized by all other PCs I have running 8.1). I went to the support site and installed the "latest" drivers, but they did not resolve the problem. I tried installing the latest firmware, but it returned "LoadImage() Failed! Access Denied. Error: Update BIOS Failed! Unload Image() Failed! Invalid Parameter. InsydeH20 - Secure Flash. Error: Firmware update failed!!! Please press any key to reset system......"
I've already spent the time to reinstall all my software and really do not have the time to try another reset to factory configuration. How to get my MMC and USB slots working properly.

Aug 25, 2014I have a new U530 I just bought. I need windows 7, so I did a downgrade. I downloaded all the Win7 drivers, and managed to make everything happy except no Wifi. The Win7 drivers on the support site don't have the the hardware ID for this wifi card. In windows 8 it shows Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter, with PCVEN)14E4&DEV_43B1&SUBSYS_062E17AA&REV_03, which does not show up in the .inf file for the drivers that install from the wl05w7.exe driver file. Also the setup quits without graceful finish, even if I right click and do run as administrator.
I purchased two of these laptops, but one needs to work with Win 7. I'm willing to switch out the wifi card if you have something that works with Win 7.

Dec 14, 2013I recently purchased a HP HP - Split x2 Ultrabook - Model # 13-g110dx and I am pretty happy with the ultrabook. The ultrabook came installed with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and after that all Windows 8.1 updates were installed and the latest drivers from HP as well. However I have noticed that the touch stops responding after sometime and I have to restart the laptop to make it work again.
Another issue I've seen today is the touch pad stopped responding and I again had to restart.

Any special tools required? Will the existing module be 1 x 4Gb, with a spare socket to add 4Gb? Or will it be 2 x 2Gb, in which case I have to discard both and replace with 2 x 4Gb?

Jan 7, 2014Just upgraded the 24GB msata to a 120 GB msata and I'm having trouble cloning the hard drive over to the ssd with Clonezilla. The plan is to move the OS to the msata ssd and wiping the original hard dirve and using it for back-up and storage. The BIOS is current set to AHCI with Lagency OS support active but trying UEFI first. I've done this before with win 7 systems; but this is my first foray into win 8.1 w/UEFI. The system does recognize and access the 120 GB Crucial M500 msata disk; it just won't mirror the 8, win-8 partitions. I reinstalled the HD and rebooted the system; to ensure I didn't mess something up and everything seems to be working; though on the slow hard drive.
I did boot from the USB drive with Clonzillia on it and used the drive to drive cloning option...

Aug 11, 2013My Lenovo U430 touch came with a Samsung 128GB SSD. Since it was becoming a little on the small side, I decided to replace it with a Samsung EVO 250GB SSD.
My first thought was to clone the old SSD and then resize the partitions afterwards. I quickly ran into trouble, the cloning didn't work out. So I decided to begin from scratch. So I installed the new SSD and installed a bare Windows 8.1 Pro install.
Although everythings works one thing is still bugging me. For the new Samsung SSD to be bootable I must:
- Disable Secure Boot
- Enable Legacy booting
I thought all the necessary codes were a BIOS / OS thing?

Oct 22, 2013I recently updated to windows 8.1, and after the install, my sound did not work. I then when to support, and downloaded and installed the latest sound driver, which worked! For a few minutes... After i restarted my computer, the sound was gone again, and now it does not work at all ......
My whole experince of windows 8.1 have been very bad. My touchpad is buggy, the sound does not work, and my computer in general seems slower, and like it is working on 100% CPU all the time ....
