I have an Ideapad S510p touch Notebook that i bought just last year.But now since the past 1 or 2 weeks i have noticed that my laptop's battery is getting discharged really fast.
View 4 RepliesRecently I've been having problems with the battery discharging while plugged in while playing some games (Civilization V and Sniper Elite V2 are the ones I've noticed the most). In the case of Civilization V, it also causes the game to lag to the point of being unplayable. The battery notification when scrolled over says "plugged in, not charging" and does so indefinitely until the computer shuts off from lack of power. It also decreases the battery life to just about an hour and fifteen minutes when discharging like this.
because it doesn't seem to happen with every single game I own. Sims 3, Saint's Row the Third, Skyrim, etc. do not suffer from this problem. I've already tried uninstalling the games with this problem and reinstalling them, but that doesn't seem to work.
Recently I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad S510p with DOS installed in it.
Then I installed Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64, and downloaded all Windows 7 drivers from the lenovo support website.
But the left two USB 3 ports don't detect at all. They are not working.
My Ideapad S510p has accrued over 10 BSODs over the past 2 weeks. It is totally random, not due to putting it in sleep mode, and apparently is caused by a failure in the ntoskrnl.exe and usbehci.sys.
I have tried looking for malfunctioning devices, and disabled bluetooth as it was apparently not working.
I also installed several new drivers. This solved nothing, and I am at a loss of what to do entirely.
I have a problem with shutting down my computer. While it seems like the system is closed and the screen goes black, the laptop is still working (power button still glows white and ventilators are on). The only way to shut it down completely is by holding the power button for 5 seconds.
My specs are: Intel Core i7-3630QM, 1TB HDD (560GB free), 16GB SSD, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA Geforce 660M
In last month my laptop used to be working for 4-5 days in a row, and only today did I notice that it won't shut down. I did some research and found out that the feature called "Fast Startup" is responsible for this - disabling it with Energy Management resolves the problem, and the laptop shuts down nicely, while re-enabling it makes the problem return.
I also found out that the Fast Startup feature (while enabled) creates(/modifies?) a file called "hiberfil.sys" which stores data about my current session and then shuts down the laptop completely.
So apparently there is something wrong about this file or the process of creation/modification of it (I'm not sure how it works) when I try to shut down my laptop. Or even it might be not about that file, but some 3-rd party process which blocks the creation/modification of it?
So my question is what can I do to solve this problem withoutdisabling the Fast Startup feature (I mean disabling it costs me like additional 40 second during turning my computer on, which is not much, but the pure fact that I have to disable this means I have some problems with my laptop).
PS. I ran the "powercfg.exe /hibernate off" command, restarted the laptop, then ran the "powercfg.exe /hibernate on" command, in hope of clean-creation of hiberfil.sys file, but it did not work (maybe there is a way of manually deleting it in order to automatical re-creation of the file during the next shut-down?).
The only thing on my mind now is leaving the laptop "shut down" for a night - maybe that file is so large it needs a lot of time to be created/modified, but that wouldn't explain why shutting down my laptop in the previous 7 months has been taking only like 5-7 second, not the whole night.

It was working fine a few minutes ago, i closed the laptop for a few moment, but when i came back the screen was black at first. so i did a hard shutdown cause i though the computer crashed or something. but when i turned it back on, it was suddenly white. if i tilt it a bit, it sometimes goes black. I don't know what to do, i used my friends monitor and it worked so it not the computer...

- update to 8.1 and update - still not working.
Check my hardware in control panel - everything seems to be ok - but maybe I dont know where to look ?

I recently got my ideapad and I changed the HDD to an SSD right away. After changing it I cant find the drivers for the f7 key or the flight mode key,everything is functional except for that key...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the Ideapad S415 Touch. The wifi connection drops OFTEN. It still shows that it is connected, but there is no internet pages load, email stops working, etc. If I hit "disconnect" on the connection, then hit "connect" again, it works great . . . . for a few more minutes or an hour or whatever. I went into "properties" and changed the settings on roaming and power management per an article I found on this site. I think this may have worked a bit, but it's still happening.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy lenovo Y510P used to always be at 100% but I have realized it has been decreasing by 1 every day. I have it on Maximum Battery Life with the Energy Management application.
It is currently at 85% and I would have posted this sooner if I had payed attention. I changed it to Optimized Battery Health and it is now dropping, currently at 75%.
I always leave the laptop plugged in because I usually play games on it such as battlefield, dayZ, counter strike, etc.
My Yoga 2 Pro battery is discharging is rather quickly. I have seen this forum that I can perform a battery calibration with Battery Manager.
My question is: should I do it while my Yoga 2 is plugged with on the AC adapter or not? If not, should I do it when the battery is at 100%?
I recently just received my Ideapad y510p laptop back, and I unplugged it and the battery dropped to 60% but when I try to charge my laptop, it'll just stay at 60%. The battery says its plugged in but it won't charge.

The laptop just powered off when I unplugged the AC, with battery installed. And of course I cannot boot the laptop without AC now. I installed power manager, and it says no battery installed. The battery worked fine until yesterday. When I plugged AC in, the meter shows it is charging, but the power volume is not going up. Is it a battery failure?

I have a P400 Touch that was purchased just a few months ago (February I believe) and it's been great so far. This past month, however, I haven't used it (until now) and noticed that my battery icon is stuck on "36% available (plugged in, charging)" but the thing is it's not charging whatsoever. What's worse is that if/when I pull the adapter from the laptop, it cuts off completely. The battery indicator light is steady white when the adapter is plugged in as well.

View 7 Replies View RelatedShortly after I received my laptop, I installed a third-party battery monitor, BatteryCare, to monitor the battery in the laptop because I'd used it on previous software and liked having a second source of information. I've been running the laptop like a desktop for the last few months though and havent had to pay any attention to batter life, since the thing is always plugged in so I decided to delete BatteryCare.
The uninstall went fine, but when I restarted the computer I noticed that the icon displaying remaining battery life did not reappear. I went digging to see if the uninstallation might have uninstalled a driver but I couldn't find anything indicating a problem like this. I still have the Energy Monitor - just nothing showing up much juice is left in the battery.
Any pointers on what drivers/devices I might have to reinstall to get power monitor icon back. I checked the Driver Matrix, here, but I couldn't find anything about solution. Should I just reinstall the Energy Management utility?
I own an Ideapad Z-500 notebook with Win 8.1 pro.
My battery is at locked at 59% of charge and even if i connect the power plug it doesn't charge any more.

It worked for then, but now I have the same problem once again and firmware update doesnt work anymore because my firmware is already up to date.
I've just purhased the above for my son who is in hospital having chemo at present. Very disappointed with the battery that is only lasting for approx 1.5 hours. I have it set to a balanced use and so far the laptop has only been used for surfing, etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've owned a ThinkPad T430 for about one year now. Originally I was fairly impressed with the battery life (around 4.5 hours) but now after owning it for a year I am very unimpressed with it's short 3 hour life now.
I have read that batteries should be expected to do this, although I have friends with a MacBook Pro which has lost maybe 20% of it's charge over three years not one year like my ThinkPad!
My specs are listed below:
OS: Windows 8 (upgraded from 7)
Ram: 8GB (4*2 DIMM - came with 4GB and I upgrade it with 4 more)
CPU: i5-3210M 2.5GHZ
Hard Drive: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD (upgraded from the 320GB 7200RPM HDD before...if I have got those specs right)
I recently installed the new SSD and expected to see my battery life shoot up again (hopefully at least half an hour) but I really haven't noticed any such improvement.
I use the battery frequently for school and run the battery down to about 20% maybe twice a week on school weeks?
Is this kind of deterioration to be expected and should I simply purchase a new battery if I need that extra 1.5 hours?
According to the Windows 8 battery report the original full charge capacity was: 49,286 mWh, now it is: 39,780 mWh.
I use a USB MIDI keyboard (Akai LPK25) with my Ideapad. I've not previously had an issue with this configuration, but since about a week ago, as soon as I plug in the device the touch screen becomes disabled. Removing the device doesn't restore touch screen functionality; I actually have to reboot.
Was there a recent USB upgrade that's causing this issue?
