Yesterday my brand-new VPCZ11X5E completed an automatic windows update, and shut down after completing the installation procedure. Since then windows will not start up properly: it stays in the start up phase (you know, with the windows 7 logo), before the log-on screen.
or should i just do a re-install (=losing some important documents).
My friend's macbook (white plastic, 2.0, napa/core2 before santa rosa platform) isn't starting, and I have no idea why. He initially asked me to replace the top and bottom casing. I accepted, and ordered the parts. Around the time they were supposed to come, I took the computer apart completely (required for the repair), but one of the parts was delayed, so the computer sat splayed on my desk for a week. I didn't exactly stack textbooks on it, but it also wasn't covered in anti-static wrap. So, now, I finally got the part and put it back together, and the computer doesn't start. At all. The screen doesn't go grey, the 'sleep' light doesn't turn on, the fan doesn't start - nothing. The magsafe light is green, so the power is going in. It's also worth noting that I have no battery for it, so it's all on A/C.
Does anyone know what's wrong? My two hypothetical solutions are (a) I need a battery, or (b) the logic board is dead due to static.
How likely are each of these scenarios - especially the logic board one? How possible is it that it was static overloaded?
I've Probook 4540s notebook , I tried installing watchdogs , after restarting windows doesn't start up correctly , a black screen with blinkin cursor and wifi Icon. I'm using safe mode now :/

After running diagnostics I've gotten error info:
Error Code 2000-0142Validation 63358Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N WD-WX51A8109114, self test unsuccesful. Status = 7.
My Windows 8.1 Acer Aspire AO756 turns on with fan running, but the screen is black. How can I get it to boot up?

Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists. I have restrtaed the computer and I do not know where the driver is for this or where to install it. Computer is just over a month old.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a very confusing issue with my Dell Inspiron N5110 Core i5 laptop. Sometimes when I try to switch it on, it doesn't do anything at all. I tried to talk the battery and the AC adapter out, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, put the battery and the AC adapter back in but nothing at all happens. No lights are showing up at all on it even when i'm having the AC adapter however i am sure that the adapter is fine.
What confuses me that when i leave it for a day or two and try again, it just works fine. It is about 7 months old and it came up with Windows 7 home edition on it.
So, my y510p is having really anoying problem.
Sometimes computer works fine (really rarely) but usually it just doesnt start.
I need to press powerbutton atleast 50 times until it finally start, and when it starts the screen is just blinking black and keys are blinking too, the problem becoming more general when it gets "cold" (Cold = normal indoor temperature 22 celsius) it also takes ages to get windows screen
I have already visited warranty with my laptop and it was there 1.5 months, and they changed keyboard (why?!?!) and send it back, they said that they run some tests without any problems. Then i got my computer back, NOTHING CHANGED, same problems and all, what should i do?!
I have already soft-reseted, reseted bios and reseted whole system, nothing works!
My model is the one with 750M and 24gb ssd cache.
I just bought a brand new Acer R7-572-6805. When I press power button nothing happens if AC adapter is not plugged in. I would expect laptop to start/boot because the battery inside is brand new and fully charged.
Also, I'm worried that nothing happens when I press for 4-10 seconds a battery-reset button on the bottom of the laptop in a small hole in the middle (I use paperclip).
1. Update BIOS to the newest version 2.04. Note: during flashing new BIOS version the orange LED didn't blink but shined!
2. Tightened all screws on a casing.
3. Replaced a charger.
4. Pressed batter-reset button.
5. Pressed power button for more than 10 seconds while AC adapter was plugged in, was not plugged in and when battery was not plugged in too.
4. Reinserted battery many times.
5. Checked voltage of a battery. Two cells showed 3.11V and the other two cells showed 3.81V. I manually charged the first 2 to 3.78 so that all 4 cells have similar voltage. The proper voltage makes me think that the battery is fully charged.
Other observations:
1. When AC adapter is plugged in then the orange LED is blinking (it seems to indicate that the battery is low) after approximately 6 seconds from pressing power button, i.e. from start. It doesn't change if I go to BIOS or go on with Windows boot.
2. When battery detached then the orange LED does not shine at all.
3. When AC adapter is plugged in then laptop starts.
4. Windows 8.1 is installed. The first time I used the laptop I plugged AC adapter in, powered on the laptop and went on with the installation.
5. Wall AC outlet provide 230V in my country (in contrast to 110V in US, but it shouldn't matter becuase the charger is capable of working in both systems according to its specification).
I've noticed that my laptop doesn't start at first power on. A push the start button, Lenovo image is showing but after few second the power go off. I need to push again the power button and then the laptop start without problem.
View 7 Replies View Relatedive had my computer for years(warranty has expired) and it has worked very fine except it has been always very prone to overheat. A week ago it overheated(again), and after that it hasnt started anymore. I press the power button, i see caps light once or twice(yes indeed, when starting it might show once and then next time twice and so on..). startup goes like this: first there will come normally that screen where reads "press ESC to startup menu", hten screen goes black and it should open windows but it doesnt. Instead it makes an restart and does that all the time. Ive ran all diagnostics and those are just saying passed to everything. I have also tried "hard reset" but that has no effect. Also F11 in startup(system recovery) doesnt work.

When installed it doesn't let the Laptop to boot. Newegg says this is compatible but the product doesn't.I'm sure I installed it properly. I then returned to find that my laptop had not started up properly, and had instead come up with a black screen displaying "Checking disk for errors. This might take over an hour." So I left it sitting there turned on and plugged in for around 5 hours, and the message stayed on the screen. I have tried re-installing Windows 8 via hard drive and disk, and it was not able to be loaded. I have also tried hard resetting my laptop, to which the same message appeared after I turned it on again.

I wanted to create some recovery drives etc. so I clicked on the recovery management program
It asks if I want to allow the software to make changes to my harddrive. I click yes and then it goes to desktop. But the software never starts. I tried again with the task manager open and the Recovery Management task runs, but then stops after a while.
I have done a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit informed by Firestone and others on this Forum. Everything works well - in fact arguably better in terms of functionality of Stamina/Speed switch - with one exception.
I have not been able to install the WWAN successfully. I have tried a number of times to uninstall and reinstall the drivers from links on this site and also even tried the Sony EU support site Windows 7 drivers with no luck. I have tried asking windows to search for the best driver with no luck. Globetrotter Connect has installed correctly, as far as I can see, but just doesn't pick up the WWAN card.
I have an AR-VGN370. After many months of waiting Vista Service Pack 1 finally is offered via Windows Update. I have assumed it was the Sigmatel driver that had prevented me from receivng SP 1. Is there anyone else for whom SP1 has recently become available and installed successfully? I am very hestitant to allow the install.

No software or hardware modification/installation or anything was done in the past week. Also computer had no internet access for the past week so i doubt it can be a virus.
my DVD drive is non-functional, so I downloaded the recent driver for it from the Dell site (8/19/2008, DJ06, A02). When I tried running it I got an error stating "You don't have administrator right to process or No device is recognized".
Which is weird as I'm the local admin on the machine.
Dell XPS M1530 Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
I want to install a program that automatically installs the drivers from the dell website. I thought that Dell Update was such program, but it doesn't work. There are drivers that need updating since I installed them on the 19.12.2014 from the dell website, but the program says "Your system is up to date", even after manual scan. What's strange is that the latest Dell Update version on the website is 1.3, but the program updates itself to 1.4.

Then I tried to factory reset the system and it says "problem occurred while resetting",or something similar to that.it also showed that no changes where !made.

I should have left it alone but I've never had a bios go corrupt during update. Had A03 BIOS and attempted to update to A09.
Laptop locked up during the flash and now it doesn't even show the bios start up! I removed the BIOS battery and LT battery. Maybe I need to wait longer then 5 mins for the entire system to discharge and then try power up again. So far just a black screen!
I just got one problem fixed with loading a new hard drive now this.

Windows Update showed a new update to the graphics driver for the 965 which applies to my SZ and whatever other model uses the 965. It seems to have fixed the "glitchy" aero border.

I have a sony vaio fz290.
I burned the image of a 7077 build I downloaded from demonoid. Booted off of it and clicked install , and then I got an error about not having a Cd/Dvd drive device driver missing , I tried a lot of things and searched all over the internet.
A few things to ask as I'm desperate
What can I do to make this work ?
Do I have to format my comp for this to work or can I just update over the 32-bit installation
OR can I just install on a partition ?
