I've noticed that my laptop doesn't start at first power on. A push the start button, Lenovo image is showing but after few second the power go off. I need to push again the power button and then the laptop start without problem.

Sometimes computer works fine (really rarely) but usually it just doesnt start.
I need to press powerbutton atleast 50 times until it finally start, and when it starts the screen is just blinking black and keys are blinking too, the problem becoming more general when it gets "cold" (Cold = normal indoor temperature 22 celsius) it also takes ages to get windows screen
I have already visited warranty with my laptop and it was there 1.5 months, and they changed keyboard (why?!?!) and send it back, they said that they run some tests without any problems. Then i got my computer back, NOTHING CHANGED, same problems and all, what should i do?!
I have already soft-reseted, reseted bios and reseted whole system, nothing works!
My model is the one with 750M and 24gb ssd cache.
My computer doesn't seem to start up anymore. It only enters the "Boot menu" tab with no further information. When I'm trying to press "Enter" it just returns back to same screen again. Is my harddrive broken? Is there some reset button available anywhere on the device?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a X230 with 4GB 1Rx8 PC3-12800S-11-12-B4 memory installed. I tried to upgrade it with two Kingston KVR1066D3S7/4G 1.5V memory sticks.
Unfortunately after installing new memory sticks (combinations don't matter) my laptop doesn't power on. After pressing the button there's just a flash and BIOS doesn't boot.
Everything is back to normal after restoring the previous RAM configuration.
Is there something wrong with my memory sticks or is it some kind of bior issue or maybe something else?
My friend's macbook (white plastic, 2.0, napa/core2 before santa rosa platform) isn't starting, and I have no idea why. He initially asked me to replace the top and bottom casing. I accepted, and ordered the parts. Around the time they were supposed to come, I took the computer apart completely (required for the repair), but one of the parts was delayed, so the computer sat splayed on my desk for a week. I didn't exactly stack textbooks on it, but it also wasn't covered in anti-static wrap. So, now, I finally got the part and put it back together, and the computer doesn't start. At all. The screen doesn't go grey, the 'sleep' light doesn't turn on, the fan doesn't start - nothing. The magsafe light is green, so the power is going in. It's also worth noting that I have no battery for it, so it's all on A/C.
Does anyone know what's wrong? My two hypothetical solutions are (a) I need a battery, or (b) the logic board is dead due to static.
How likely are each of these scenarios - especially the logic board one? How possible is it that it was static overloaded?
My T420 doesn't power on at all. I have tried to turn it on with cable, w/o cable, different baterries, removed rams and tried same things, tried holding down power button for 60 secs, tried with an other keyboard and I couldn't manage to start the laptop. No reaction at all, no blinking or anything.

The problem is, no matter what I change in Bios or Boot manager, The laptop doesn't boot from usb. All I get is the normal Win 8.1 installation.

On the display you can see a black background, in the upper right corner the intel emblem and in the lower left corner you can see "thinkpad". I cannot enter the bios and nothing works. We´ve tried already to press the power button a few times to reset the computer. Didn´t work as well. The keyboard doesn´t accept any hot key combinations.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Ideapoad P500 is approximately 16 months old (so the warranty period is out, obviously!) A couple of nights after a reboot I got the message "Repairing Hard Disk errors. This could take an hour or longer."... or something very similar. The laptop hung up at that message for more than 18 hours.
I did a hard reboot and now get the message "Checking media" followed by the error "Boot failed." This leads to the message, "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed."No I don't have any recovery media.Yes I have pretty recent backups so that is not a problem.I've got an enclosure that I can use to hook my laptop hard drive up to so I can see if the drive is even readable.
Now here is the 64 thousand dollar question... how do I get the hard drive out of the laptop? I have taken the five screws out of the back. At that point, I think the DVD drive should slide out, but it does not.how to get the hard drive out?
I have a y500 Lenovo gaming laptop with Windows 8, and for the past couple of days, each time my laptop is put in hibernation or powered down, whenever I turn it back on it gives me this message:
"Default Boot Device Missing or boot failed Insert recovery media and hit any key Then select boot manager to choose a new boot device to boot or recovery media."
Then it brings me to a page with 3 boot options, and only the Windows Boot Manager works. I'm doing scans and hardware scans but so far nothing is being found. This laptop is less than 2 months old so I really don't think it's a hardware problem, and I haven't downloaded anything recently that may have messed this up. I would contact Lenovo but I'm unsure if this is an issue with the laptop, or Windows 8.
I get the error in the Title after i tried to flash the latest BIOS update for the Z510. I can press ok and then get into the boot manager but i cant choose anything there. Also I cant boot from a Disk with e.g. XP on it.
I also tried the Inside BIOS crisis mode (fn+r) with the BIOS file on my USB drive but it doesn't work and tries to access the file on the USB drive but boots normally instead to the error again. (Couldn't try it with removed battery as I have to remove the whole back to remove the battery on the Z510).
I have a problem that my 'up' key doesn't work at all. It's important because I need it to brighten my screen with 'Fn' key. Is it possible to brighten the screen somehow without using 'Fn' key? the 'up' key seems to be not working at all...

when i change it to the "optimized battery health" it says, plugged in, not charging.

Laptop just arrived! However, my N key doesn't work 4 out of 5 times. I have slowed my typing down so I can verify I am pressing the key firmly enough and I am. I have to press it multiple times for it to finally type the letter N.

Then formated and installed Win7 Pro 64bit. i managed to get everything else in working order except i would like to occasionally turn off the touchpad. i use a mouse for games and such and the hot key doesnt work to turn it off. BTW every other hot key does what its intended to do.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Lenovo X1 carbon, the weird thing is that the computer functions correctly when the power cord is plugged but when the power cord is unplugged the computer DOES NOT turn off no matter what you do. It restarts all the time. If you plug the power cord you can turn off your computer, but when you unplug it it starts working immediately?
In any case pushed the reset button on the back of the laptop but it didn't worked.
My fairly new Lenovo Y410p funtions extremely well when playing a video game, but only when connected to a charger, as soon as I disconnect the charger, my framerate can drop to upto 1/8th of the original framerate. It is always connected to the NVidia Graphics Card, the power plan is always on high performance, and the minimum processor state on battery for the processor power management is 100%. How I can fix it? Am I missing something fairly obvious, or is there a defect with my computer?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have z500. I start playing some medium grapic games. After a 1 hour gameplay my graphics start to glitch so i checked my cpu and gpu temp. I saw that CPU temp has reached 99 Celcius but still the fans were dead.
Few minutes later, after what ever reason, fans start to spin and now its cooled downed to 60 C. and keeps spinning in low speed still.
Since i can see the temp, i assume there is no problem in thermometer so i assume its kind of a software deficiency. I am not using any overcload or cooling app, my power settings are set to high performance.
My lenovo B570 is 1month old, when i turn it on it hangs before the user account appears.. its stucked and just saying "Please wait" then i need to turn it off and turn on and on again till it works. Then sometimes when i shut down its also stucked on "Shutting down" I already tried reformatting and its still the same.

The display driver that came on the machine is from Intel (version 10.18.10.3379). The supported display driver listed on the Lenovo site is also from Intel but for an earlier version (10.18.10.3277). I've read a number of threads about a second monitor not being detected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the Y510P with Windos 8.1, latest graphic drivers. I'm connecting it to my HD TV via HDMI and the image doesn't fit well in my TV, it's a little zoomed in. I've been searching for a solution in all the menus from Intel's HD 4600, nVIDIA's Control Panel, Windows scaling... NOTHING works. I have another laptop and it has an option that scales the image and the TV shows what is supposed to show.
How can I solve that and fit what I see in my laptop's screen in the second screen (TV)?

Overnight, my Z470's wifi stopped work. The switch nor FN seems to turn the wifi on again, but I dont think the device is damaged or something. I tried everything I could.
1) Update driver / Uninstall and update driver / delete and update driver
2) Try to work on WLAN in services.msc but I couldn't find it in there
3) Some people says that could be the power management, I'm still trying to find the compatible version.
So, what else can I do? I don't wanna to format my machine!

I have a new U530 I just bought. I need windows 7, so I did a downgrade. I downloaded all the Win7 drivers, and managed to make everything happy except no Wifi. The Win7 drivers on the support site don't have the the hardware ID for this wifi card. In windows 8 it shows Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter, with PCVEN)14E4&DEV_43B1&SUBSYS_062E17AA&REV_03, which does not show up in the .inf file for the drivers that install from the wl05w7.exe driver file. Also the setup quits without graceful finish, even if I right click and do run as administrator.
I purchased two of these laptops, but one needs to work with Win 7. I'm willing to switch out the wifi card if you have something that works with Win 7.
I have problem with my battery. When i unplug AC power laptop is not started. It's running only when the AC is plugged in. Mabe it's a problem with windows 8.1.

Tried everything and all possible combinations on the fingerprint software. But can't start my machine by swiping. The reader works perfect otherwise. I can pass bios log on to windows etc. But I still have to go through the power on button. I observe that in the new software (unlike in the earlier ones) there are no start on buttons to be clicked above the fingerprints. how to bypass pressing the power on button and start the machine directly by swiping the enrolled finger?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend has a Lenova G580. She said Windows wouldn't boot and gave it to me to fix.
I confirmed that windows does not boot in normal mode, safe mode, or recovery mode using any of the boot options for Windows. It will either sit at a black screen (it looks like it's almost at the GUI) or reboot if in safe mode before it gets to that point.
So after discussion we decided to whipe the machine using the Lenovo OneKey Rescue system. I hit the Lenovo OneKey button next to the power button.
It spends a couple minutes booting and I get the green grass background that looks like this one for version 7 but it will just sit there for a day without ever loading the the app. No mouse, no windows. Just the brackground image.
What the problem might be for this system? Restoring to factory settings was the last resort and I am alarmed to see this is not working on this ~2 year old system.
