Lenovo B / G Series :: G580 OneKey Rescue Won't Start
Dec 29, 2013My friend has a Lenova G580. She said Windows wouldn't boot and gave it to me to fix.
I confirmed that windows does not boot in normal mode, safe mode, or recovery mode using any of the boot options for Windows. It will either sit at a black screen (it looks like it's almost at the GUI) or reboot if in safe mode before it gets to that point.
So after discussion we decided to whipe the machine using the Lenovo OneKey Rescue system. I hit the Lenovo OneKey button next to the power button.
It spends a couple minutes booting and I get the green grass background that looks like this one for version 7 but it will just sit there for a day without ever loading the the app. No mouse, no windows. Just the brackground image.
What the problem might be for this system? Restoring to factory settings was the last resort and I am alarmed to see this is not working on this ~2 year old system.

Jun 23, 2014So. My notebook has an issue related to the screentouch. Lenovo's assistants says that if I have Windows 8 on my notebook. But I updated it to Windows 8.1. Now I need to downgrade to Windows 8 'till they fix my computer. I already have the Windows 8 DVDs, but before I downgrade I'd like to know:
1. I'll be able to use OKR to restore a backup of my current system, with all my software and settings?
2. I've partitioned my HD in order to keep personal stuff (media, data, documents) in D:, instead C:. OKR will erase the content of other partitions? Can I safely use it or D: can be affected?

Jul 27, 2012I am currently using a G550 2958 Model Laptop, from the Lenvo 3000/Essentials Notebook Series. This laptop came with a feature called OneKey Recovery, which I have used to create recovery disks for my computer, using 2 DVDs. My problem is this: I wish to install a Linux operating system on my computer, but Lenovo filled the partition table. Here is a summary of the partition configuration:
First Partition, Unnamed, Primary, NTFS, 200-300 MB, boot flag, houses Master Boot Record
Second Partition, "C", "C:", and/or "OS Drive" (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1), Primary, NTFS, approximately 187 GB, contains Windows installation and personal files.
Third Partition, Unnamed, Extended, NTFS, approx. 30 GB, is a container for:
Logical Partition: "Lenovo", Logical, NTFS, approx. 30 GB, lba flag (which I take to mean it's bootable), contatins data and drivers necesarry for operating the OneKey Recovery System in respect to creating images and usage of the NOVO button.
Fourth and final Partition, "LENOVO_PART", Primary, NTFS, 13-17 GB, hidden service partition used for OneKey Recovery.
My question is this: I'm aware of the fact the OneKey Recovery will cease to function if I resize or delete any partitions in that I will not be able to create backup images or recovery disks, but since I have already done so and have no further need of OneKey, will booting the recovery disks automatically restore OneKey functionality after deletion or resizing of recovery partitions? In essence, will disabling the OneKey system through partition management permanently remove my ability to use recovery disks, or no?

Feb 16, 2014Where Can I download or order a Boot Disc for my Z580? It came with Windows 7, and PC World were offering a free upgrade to Windows 8.
I am currently unable to create a Factory Default Recovery Disc. There is an error with the Onekey Recovery software in burning onto the DVD / Disc. I have tried two different DVDs (4.7GB), and have tried a CD (740MB). And I receive the same error about one fifth of the way through.
The reason I am having to do a factory reset, is because my Wirless Network driver is not working, and the laptop no longer accepts external wireless USB dongles. I can't get internet even with a wired connection. It isn't to do with whether the wireless is switched on or not. I've tried this.
What is Lenovos policy about providing customers with the means to restore their Laptops? In the past computer manufacturers / suppliers provided all the software and bootdiscs.

According to the users guide I have to press the Novo button and click on system backup. Well I pressed the Novo button and there was only System Restore; no backup option. Oct 14, 2008I've got a problem with the laptop Lenovo T410s. I've put the new HDD on it (tried even the same with a different HDD too), and started to instal WIN 7 64-bit from the recovery disks. I used to do it many times so far with different Lenovo laptops without any problems. But this time, a while before the end of the instalation (when processing the sdrivebackup.wim) it stops and comes with a statement: " the recovery process has been finished, please ...." (but I see that the progres bar is far awayfrom 100%) , and finishes the instalation, reboot the computer and it comes the screen with the statement from the Windows Boot Manager:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem (...)

I read a lot about the ways to solve similar problems, but they don't work on my case. The strange thing is, that I can instal WIN 8 or WIN7 from regular Windows instalation disks (not from Lenovo recovery, but from normal universal Windows instalation disks).
As I told before, I tried it in 2 different HDD disks with the same effect. It looks that the recovery instalation stops before the end without instaling some files which are missing later during starting the system.

Nov 19, 2014I have z500. I start playing some medium grapic games. After a 1 hour gameplay my graphics start to glitch so i checked my cpu and gpu temp. I saw that CPU temp has reached 99 Celcius but still the fans were dead.
Few minutes later, after what ever reason, fans start to spin and now its cooled downed to 60 C. and keeps spinning in low speed still.
Since i can see the temp, i assume there is no problem in thermometer so i assume its kind of a software deficiency. I am not using any overcload or cooling app, my power settings are set to high performance.

I have already soft-reseted, reseted bios and reseted whole system, nothing works!

Apr 5, 2014I have a lenovo u410 with a 500gb hdd and a 24 gb cache. Now, I am experienced with hardware and software and have built/reinstalled a lot of computers before. This time it is a bit different. I did not get my windows 8 key with the computer only the OneKey recovery. I did do a backup with this program when the computer was new and I assume it is on the hdd.
