Sony :: Vaio CS21 Suddenly Crashed

My laptop has been working great since I got it three months a go - it's a Vaio CS21 with Vista, then today when I switched it on I got the Windows Boot Manager page and the message that windows couldn't launch and that I'd need to insert the installation disk (which Sony doesn't provide when yoy buy the thing).
why it went from working perfectly fine last night (and shut down as per the usual process) to then today being anything but. The only software I downloaded yesterday was the NoScript add-on for Firefox - other than that I haven't done anything different from the norm (surfing the net and some photoshop work). I don't have a recovery disk (and yes I am kicking myself for procrastinating on that) so I guess I'm at the mercy of the Sony support staff come Monday morning (why don't they open at the weekend???) but I'm curious if anyone has any clue as to what might have happened to a laptop all of three months in use.
Also, and this shows my tech ignorance; given the crash, have I lost all the work, music and pictures I have saved on my hard drive?

I am using Sony Vaio SZ. My operating system crashed, When I start my computer, it shows the following message. error: loading operating system. I know I can format and reinstall factory settings if I click F10 at startup. But I first want to save my files. Can I start MS DOS than copy files to external drive or is there any other way?I have all my files in that laptop.

I bought a sony vaio laptop a little over 2 years ago. I never had a problem untill about 4 monthes ago. I got the "blue screen of death". It said something about the BIOS but would never stay on long enough for me to totaly read it. I went to Best Buy and asked if they had any ideas.
The guy said to contact Sony and get a recovery disk, so i did. I ran the cd but half way through it I got another blue screen that read:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space .....

i have a problem with my 2 year old vaio sz. Since some weeks, screen turns black in irrregular intervals. The system is still available, but i can't see anything on the screen. The only solution is to push the power button an switch to standby mode. Afer pushing the power button again, the system comes up again and the screen turns on! The problem only occured in battery mode.
I tried nearly everything to fix the problem. I reinstalled Windows XP, tried different power management settings... nothing worked.

I'm playing a online game (Cross Fire) and suddenly it shut down and can not turn on, when I press power button, nothing happened, no any led or power light on. Adapter I guest is ok because it is still work (I see the light on it is still on), maybe the power supply die or ... the main board die..I don't know... I'm US I hear my friend said the cost for repairing maybe more expensive than you buy new one ( He said 75$ per hour), maybe I bring back to my country for do some repair
I would like to know how to remove the skin (machine cover), I mean I want to see inside of this machine if somethings wrong...... I removed maybe all of screw but I can not take the skin in bottom off.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 (Intel Core2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2GHz, 3GB RAM, 200GB HD @ 7200rpm, Vista Ultimate)
which I have not experienced any problems with until now. I experienced a freeze up while running the 'Recover Memory' option in Mz RAM Booster Version 2.4, used to free up memory.
I waited for the system to try to recover but after a while when it did not I pulled the battery so that it would restart. When I tried turning it back on I got an error screen and the computer automatically went into a Startup Repair program. I let this run on the laptop for about 24 hours until I restarted again and it restarted normally.
I thought I was in the clear until I attempted to open the folder I keep my downloaded music and movies in (about 32GB in size), the windows explorer window opened but I got the loading cursor and an empty window that just kept loading, it also slowed everything down and started freezing up other programs.
Because of this I went into Control Panel>Admin. Tools and tried to run the Memory Diagnostic Tool which just seems to turn the laptop off or just stop when it gets to about 21% of the first pass. I have not attempted a System Restore yet but will after this post, but I fear that wont help me either.

my Macbook Pro (aluminum) that I bought in January 2009 has not crashed on me, yet. That is unlike my previous Windows based machines. A lot of my friends have been switching over to the MB and MBP. It has been a great platform - it may not work out for every single user (regarding certain applications, a person's budget or job specific duties), but it was an easy transition after 20 years of Windows use for me.
I do not game on my system. If I were a gamer, I would be disappointed.

I was playing BF2 yesterday for about 45 minutes online when suddenly it froze.
I was forced to hold the power button to shut it off. When I tried to turn it back on the lights flashed and it shut off. I tried to start it again and the lights flashed and it shut down again. At this point I felt like . SoI unplugged all usb devices and the power cord let it sit for a couple minutes and tried again. This time it booted to a black screen that said your system shutdown due to excessive heat error code #MO44. I opened up the laptop removed the fans and blew out the dust from the machine. The problem is it wasn't really that hot. I know it has been hotter in the past while gaming. Anyway I am going to get a cooler for when I'm gaming. I know there have been threads here before but searching was no real help. I am looking for the most efficient cooler out there for my 1710. I reallly don't care what it looks like as long as it does what it's supposed to do.
I'm running Vista Ultimate and I8KFANGUI my peak idle temps are
CPU: 50C
GPU: 59C
RAM: 51C

Chrombook 14 has crashed, and I have installed the "Recovery" about 15 times as it kept crashing.I uninstalled all extensions and apps that weren't google apps after the 3rd or 4th crash.
Finally it crashed and the "Recovery" will not restore the computer... in any USB port. Have tried a couple dozen times and have even created a new recovery on another pen drive.
"This product is supported elsewhere at HP We apologize but the product you specified is not supported by the HP Chat Support at this time.Support for this product is available atHP Customer Care"
Problem with the above from HP is the HP page it sends you to comes up blank on my PC after clicking on their HP Customer Care page link.And, under German law this product has an automatic 2-year warranty.

so i have reformatted it at least 5 times in the last 36 hours, i finally have it working enough to write this HELP request.
as i have never experienced a video card crash on a laptop, what do i do now? is there a way that i can bypass the video card? instal a diferent set of drivers? at the moment i have all the other drivers installed minus the video drivers. last time i installed the video dricers the machine siezed up.
or can i simple take out the video card altogether?

crashed 7520. Vista bsod's on startup and continuously reboots. In the 'Startup Repair' utility, The 'System Recovery Options' box lists no windows Vista installations to repair, even after loading the proper storage drivers... When I browse for Drivers, I can access D:, E: (CD), and X: (??), but not C:. When I try to access C:, I am told I have to format it before I can use it... Looks like C: (and Vista) is toast. Luckily, There are no 'Lost Pictures, etc, issues on this one, just looking for a return to functionality.
What do I need to do to get this machine bootable?
Is there any way to recover from here?
From what I have read so far, It seems I'll need a WinVista disk, but what Version?? (I can read the Product Key, but not the version info on the MS sticker).
I've also seen lots of "driver recovery" CDs and downloads out there, but Do I need them? Will they help me recover the existing Vista install?, or are they just drivers that I can dl from Acer?
What is X:? a third partition?

I have a laptop that crashed and I'm trying to take the steps to figure out what's exactly is wrong with her and how to fix her. I've talked with several computer repair people who have array of prices just to figure out what's wrong and another price to fix it plus parts and I just do not have that money. If anyone can help me out i would appreciate the help I'm trying to get it up and running before school starts.
I have a Compaq Presario V5000 (V5315WM)
Windows XP
On start up it goes to a black screen displaying NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del it goes right back to NTLDR is missing
I've also ran a Primary HDD Self-test and within a few seconds the Test Status came up Fail
I'm not sure what that means as I've read that doesn't always necessarily means the hard drive is fried
Would a recovery disk help and if so are there any free ones to download off the computer?

I just killed my favorite laptop Envy4-1130us. I decided to update BIOS from v.13 to v.25 During update process, OS (Win8.1) hangt up. No errors was shown. After few hours laptop restarted, and now it's not works. Power led is on, system fan works on full load, but screen is black and system is not responding (OS doesn't start and power button not responding). Is an this laptop BIOS recovery console?

my Dell inspiron 15R N5010 crashed on me, I had no previous warning that this was going to happen, when it crashed I was just watching a movie and not using up much CPU power. The laptop had not over been over heated, I checked straight after it crashed. It now is completely unresponsive i've tried using different chargers, batteries and I have also checked the internal hardware and everything seems to be intact, I assume at the moment it is a motherboard malfunction.

I am trying to reinstall Windows 8 on my Inspiron 15Z 5523. I recently got the restore media from Dell with a Windows 8 install disk, but the disk does not have drivers present to access the hard drive/SSD array. Every time I try to install it, it says there is a driver missing.
I originally had tried to restore the system, and I reformatted the hard drive with Dell's utility, but then I ran into a problem because the Dell utility to create recovery media only produced one disk (it did not give me the system image, so I had nothing to restore).
I cannot get Windows 8 reinstalled (nor any other version of Windows) on it. What do I need to do to load the HDD/SDD RAID Drivers on the computer to install Windows?

I have just been given a VAIO PCG8A2M (GRX316MP) , i was told "it's broken but if you can fix it yo can have it" so having a quick look at it there's no sign of life on the display but the lights come on and i can here the HDD heads moving about.
Looking a little more i found that all the ram is missing , so now im not sure if its worth buying some ram to see if it works or not ? The lack of ram would prob explain the lack of display but i wonder if i should be getting POST beeps at least, which im not.
So my question is if a VAIO had no ram should (if all else was working) it be getting POST beeps ?

Just performed a successful XP downgrade on my Vaio Z520, but have noticed that on this copy of the Vaio Silver Desktop Theme/Appearance doesn't exist.
I had it on my SZ and loved it over the XP Blue. Is there a way to get it back? I still have the restore discs from the SZ.

My high school-age son was working on an English paper when something fell off a shelf and whacked his Aspire 3680 right above the hard drive bay. It started clicking and finally crashed.
The computer won't run with the hard drive installed. It makes nasty clicking sounds trying to boot, and finally beeps and powers off. Without the hard drive, the laptop powers up and runs BIOS just fine.
We can buy a new hard drive, but it seems awful to pay Acer another $20 + $10 shipping for the Vista restore disk!

My Dell ATG E6410 basically completely crashed. Nothing from the hard drive was salvageable (including any of the recovery files). I contacted dell support and they sent me 2 dell DVD's. They are labeled as "DELL SOFTWARE RESTORATION DVD".The only problem is, THEY WILL NOT BOOT! I have tried booting directly from the Bios and no luck what else.

I am currently on Windows 7 and sometime randomly my Computer screen freezes up and I can't do anything but wait, then it says Mobile Intel graphics accelerator (XP) has crashed.
How and where do I get the driver for the Windows 7 version?
Also... I can't seem to update my BIOS version from A05 to A14 cause my battery is dead and it says I need 10% battery, that's crap, I don't care if I have battery or not I JUST WANT TO UPDATE IT.

Dell Inspiron 15Z model 5523 laptop less than 2 years old. Locked up during a Windows update. Refreshed it and lost all my programs. Downloaded Firefox accidentally from a bad site and it was bundled with malware. So I refreshed the laptop again. Had everything working and then later that day it just quit. Locked up and when I rebooted, it said no hard drive could be found. I have a new hard drive, but how do I get my Windows 8 (paid for with the computer) and a boot disk from Dell?

My hard drive has crashed. My restore DVd is damaged. I installed a new windows 7 64 bit.
The graphics drivers (ATI HD 5430) is not installed. Can't find the driver. The latest ATI drivers don't work.
I need the original. HP don't give support anymore on their website.
Only a page with specs of my laptop. No drivers.
