View 7 RepliesWhile starting the notebook, it beeps, (short toned but continuous) and pressing Alt / Ctrl or function keys stops that noise , then system getting booted. In the login screen, in the password field automatically populated with "*" and entering correct password get into a windows.
Every key is working except 'p' and this sometimes works. But to my wonder, this key automatically getting typed in text areas frequently. it continuously prints that key whenever focus goes on the text area.
How do i turn off the beep while i type on XPS13 on physical keyboard and not the on screen keyboard .
this sound while tying is really distracting not only to me but every one in my office

When I boot the pc and when I start typing, I sometimes get a beep sound for every single button I press on my keyboard.It's about 50% of the time honestly. Sometimes I can boot the pc, start typing for 30 mins and I hear no beep. But sometimes I start pc and first hit on my keyboard immediatly gives a beep sound. Also it could just start in the middle of a text I'm typing and end 3 sentences later without me doing anything about it.some people say to check bios and turn off things related to keyboard sounds.I checked that but I couldn't find it and the things I found about my keyboard in bios were not changeable.

And if I press power button, its turning off. Later I've pressed F8 key to login in Wiindows Normal Mode, its opening Windows. So every time i've to press F8 key to login. Sometimes the beep sound continues and not logging in normal mode or in Safe mode.

View 3 Replies View Relatedit's that friggin electric sound when you adjust your screen's brightness. Not that the sound is loud or anything but it's so annoying. Even clean install of mac os didn't help.
And it's not the hard drive that's making the noise. It seems to be coming from top left corner. Blackbook is half a year old and it started to emit that friggin noise a month ago. So did anyone had the same or having the same problem and did anyone removed this god dammed irritating sound !

I just tried out the Windows 7 beta on my SR 220J/B and everything seems to work great except for the Fn+F5/F6 brightness controls.
Win7 seemed to work well out of the box, and I've installed the Alps and Synaptics drivers, along with the Upek fingerprint software (btw, I can't log in to Windows using my fingerprint, even though the log-in screen has the fingerprint icon...). I also installed "Vaio Event Service 2 (4.2.1.12090) -- All OS" from the Drivers & Software post, and the volume/mute Fn key controls work, but not the brightness.
How can I get Fn+F5/F6 to work?
I have upgraded to W7 pro, ran the companion DVD and everything is good except the FN brightness key (also changing brightness in W7 itself) they don't work.
I have been to the sonystyle.ca website and down loaded apparently the correct utility settings driver 5.0.0.07280 for W7 Pro 32-bit (at least it says on the website its compatable) and when I try to run it, it says it's for Vista only.
