Acer :: Am I Using The Correct InsydeFlash BIOS Utility

Would someone please verify that the utility used to flash the BIOS on my new Acer laptop looks like it does in the attached image? Because flashing a BIOS is a pretty serious thing to do with a purchase that costs $500+, I was surprised to see a picture of a CRT monitor wearing a wizard hat using a pencil to erase something. Also the use of non standard fonts is disturbing.
more importantly, are all ACER bios releases unsigned?

Acer Aspire V3-772G - BIOS setup utility menu items have disappeared  I have setup this brand new laptop, pre-installed with Windows 8.1, for my sister-in-law who bought it.  The installation went well BUT the 16GB USB device which I purchased as advised by the Acer literature to store the recovery partition was not big enough, the physical capacity being 14.4GB.  The Acer book says use a 16GB device or larger so I did.  I naively thought that a USB drive which was labelled 16GB would be appropriate.  Not so.  I have had to buy a larger one but am still awaiting delivery.  I therefore decided to image the whole HDD to save the work I had done but found that the Acronis Backup and Recovery DVD would not boot.  I went into the setup utility and adjusted the Boot settings to legacy and changed device priority.  Acronis would not run so I did not continue.  I went back into the setup utility, used F9 to restore the default and found to my astonishment that the DUAL boot option had now disappeared and the Windows Boot option had also vanished.  This means that this £800 laptop is now unusable.  The setup utility self-reconfigured without warning.  Nowhere is there any advice or warning not to use the setup utility in case it erases features which cannot be recovered by using F9 to recover the default configuration.  If this is not a serious design fault, I don't know what is.  I am deeply worried because the idea of a BIOS setup utility behaving this way seems so improbable.  How is it that the setup utility has been designed to self-harm like this?

Im using the Juan Lu bioses on my Inspiron and with 7900GS bios with a voltmod the temps were coming up to 91C (the clocks were 520/750 more or less). And then i decided to flash it with a gtx bios with a volt mod - and it works! It lets me overclock a little higher (like 580/750, but it seems that its not very stable though...) and the temps are a lot lower! 69-73C. I once saw it go up to 86C, but thats that. Also the idle temps went down from 63C to 54C. So my question is - is this real? This is a huge difference, video bios can do that? Or mayby... somethings mixed up with the sensors and theyre not giving the correct temps?
I'm looking for a Lenovo B575 bios update/flash utility since my BIOS has gone bad. I cannot change/save changes and cannot restore to defaults. Â I cannot find bios updtae on lenovo site (not on drivers for B575 and not under the drivers matrix). I've even tried via "Phoenix" as it's their Bios, no good. And even via a third side component (biosagent plus) that should have Phoenix bios, still no good.
HP Pavilion, think it's a dV7 or some similar name Windows 7 64-Bit  I was away to eat for around half an hour, and I came back to a popup with the title containing 'InsydeFlash'. It seems as though it's a BIOS flashing utility, which I've heard is never good, unless it's official from Windows. I don't remember installing it, and I don't know if it's an official Windows utility. It claims to want to update the BIOS. I cancelled it safely, and it seems to be gone (I ran tasklist on the command line, but found nothing out of the ordinary). My question is, if it appears again, do I run it, or is it probably an attack?Â
I'm looking to find out the correct DDR3 RAM memory for an Aspire 5736z-4460. I bought it used and am not sure the PC3-12800s is correct. I do know it's PC3 or DDR3.
I tried to reformat my Acer Aspire 5560. It goes through the System Disk, Recovery Disk 1, 2, 3, and 4 then on the Language Disk towards the end it receives a "Fail to Customize WinRe for recovery utility error". Â I have seen this error when people tried to create a recovery partition for the future but in this case I need it to get my computer back to working again! Â In the meantime it won't reboot and says BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart and just goes in a loop.

1) Which is the correct size SSD for his laptop? 7mm, 9mm, etc 2) Which Dell drivers would I need to load onto the install after installing Win 7? Audio, video, network drivers?
I have an hp DV7-1135nr laptop. Recently there was an incident and one of my friends managed to throw up into my laptop while it was open and on. The computer was off before i could pull the battery and even after being cleaned and dried will not turn on, this leads me to believe that the system board has shorted out and needs to be replaced. Where can i find a replacement system board and how much should i expect to pay?
Seeing as how i have already taken the laptop apart, are there any upgrades I can do while replacing the sytem board? It has a 2.0 ghz dual core AMD processor, and crappy integrated graphics. I was wondering if i would be able to purchase and install a better system board?

I always put 8 degree offset on my 2500M/7900GTX. I never questioned it before. But couple of days ago a guy wrote this on this forum (read bellow), so can someone comment or clarify this for me?
"I hit 87C in Crysis, so you're doing damn good there. DON'T use an 8 degree offset in FanGUI. ATITool reports wrong temps. To prove this, put your system to sleep long enough for all components to reach room temperature. Resume the system and immediately bring up FanGUI. You'll see with an offset that the GPU is for some reason about 8 degrees higher, when everything should be at room temperature. If you have no offset and then resume, you'll see that your temps are nearly identical, which they should be from a cold start up."
how to slipstream sata drivers onto Windows XP installation disk I decided to try it out. I had two unsuccessful attempts and I'm wondering that it probably is due to me using the wrong drivers for the job.
I have a Dv5t 1135ee, can anybody please direct me to the right drivers that I need to put onto my Windows XP installtion disk to not get a BSoD.
I was asked to take a look at an E5500. This is what I found:Â
a) a screen that could only be seen with the correct reflected light; and b) outboard screen working perfectly.Â
This is what I did:Â
a) tried a known replacement inverter board and this didn't solve the problem; b) tried a known working LCD screen and this didn't work; c) checked the video cable and it looks fine; and d)Â since there's no screen switch that might be stuck and I'm assuming that all functions are software controlled.
I did a clean install of xp pro. Still no good. I looked for a SMD e.g. a fuse and found none.
I've just completed a full clean install of Win 7 on my Dell Studio (1737) laptop. I can't seem to find the correct fingerprint driver to download. I'm using win 7 x64.I can see the AuthenTec Inc. AES2810 Driver under device manager and it says it's working.I have the digital persona software installed and it tells me the fingerprint reader is not installed or can't be detected.
Trying to upgrade my wifi card. The machine originally came with Centrino 2200 card. I wanted to upgrade to Centrino 6205. I thought that all I had to do was ensure that I get a card that has a known/authorized FRU, as per the X230 FRU List. So I picked a card with FRU 60Y3253, but upon installing it, I get the all familiar "1802: Unauthorized Network Card" error. Why? What else am I missing?  Images of said card:
After doing a fresh install of windows 7 Professional 32Bit, my wifi drivers did not install, i have tried numerous drivers of the website for my laptop and they don't work, ive tried many things but cant seem to find the right drivers, my laptop is a HP Elitebook 2530p, can find the correct drivers for my wifi Card?Â
I would like to create a dual-boot Vista and Ubuntu on Dell Studio XPS 13. When I tried to partition the hard disk, I found that there are Dell Utility and Recovery partitions.
What are these partitions? Is it safe to delete them? If I delete them, can I restore them back again? How can I backup, if possible, these partitions to CD or DVD before deleting them
I know that my notebook came with the Sony® Notebook Setup utility program but I lost this recovery disks that came with this notebook so I did have to buy Windows XP Home and did a clean installation of it. I did get the drivers from esupport.sony.com but I can't find the Sony Notebook Setup utility program.
Does anyone know how I can download this and install this on my notebook? It's a program that tells the specs of my PC.
how to tattoo a hp Motherboard? I have the Hp Tattoo software but They would not give me the unzip password. Just wondering if any of you motherboard repair people had a copy.
Has anyone else gotten this same alert? "WLAN Card Utility has encountered a problem and needs to close." Every so often I get this message, my computer is fine and my wireless is also fine, I just get that message. I have the 1395 mini-card, if that makes a difference.
Also, I have noticed that my wireless signal gets dropped sometimes for no reason. It might be the routers fault but I'm not sure.
I had a problem with overheating with my 1730 so emailed dell and they told me to hold Fn while booting and run a diagnostic test,
and after the memory test I "should" have had an option to "TEST SYSTEM" but instead I got a message saying "No diagnostic utility partion identified/found"
I have a problem with the camera on my VAIO VGN-CR353. Whenever I take a still photo or video, the captured image or video that is saved becomes mirrored (the left and right are reversed). Even the mirror box in the camera setup is unchecked. Currently, I am running version 2.7.01.08030 of VAIO camera capture utility and the driver for the webcam is version 6.1005.209.0.
everytime the vaio update wants to update the setting utility series but everytime the installation fails.is there any workaround for installing the latest version.
I just downloaded to OS X Yosemite and my printer won't work wirelessly. Â When I go to open printer utility to check my wireless settings it won't open. Â how to open the printer utility button so I can try and fix the wireless issue? Â
