Dell Inspiron 15 5000 :: Touchscreen Freezes For 3-10 Seconds At A Time Intermittently
Sep 27, 2014I just received my Inspiron 15 5547 computer 2 days ago and one thing I noticed is that intermittently the touchscreen freezes for 3-10 seconds at a time, when this happens the computer is not frozen, I can still move the cursor with the touch pad or with a Bluetooth mouse.
I have contacted tech support and they advised to give it a few days to see if it continues to happen and confirm that the computer in fact does not freeze. I am wondering if this is normal for this model? Or if this is an actual hardware issue with my computer.
I also am wondering about getting a stylus to use on the screen for drawing. If I get one like the Adonit Jot or one like used for a Samsung Galaxy Note III would that work? Would it cause any damage to the screen?

Aug 27, 2014I have talked to several HP techs since pc has been returned (after ruining the motherboard with water). The cursor freezes, so I hard power down (many times) and and restart - have been getting blue screen I did install Chrome browser as per one suggestion.

Mar 6, 2013Whenever my laptop hibernates, at least half of the time, the curser will be frozen or locked up when the laptop comes out of sleep.
I have to push the button or close the lid on the laptop, sometimes 5 to 10 times before it unfreezes.
In the desktop section, stated to turn off all of the power saving options.
when I turn off all of the power options, that leaves the computer & hard drive on constantly.

Jun 29, 2009My Acer Aspire 9410 randomly freezes for like 10 seconds, then it goes back to normal, then after 10-15 secs freezes again for like 2-3 secs and then it goes finally back to normal. During freezes nothing works, the screen does not show anything weird. Sometimes after a freeze my internet connection (wireless) closes, and the only way to repair it is to restart the computer. I'm running Windows XP Media Center with all updates. All drivers are all updated. Maybe just my BIOS is not the last version. I tried using no battery, disabling some services, I don't have Norton, I've used all cleaners, registry repairing softwares, Avast scan, etc. nothing seems to help. The event viewer does not show any warning and/or error at the time of freezing.

Apr 19, 2010I'm having big problems with my NEW Aspire 5942G. I bought it last week, everything worked just fine, till last week when he crashed for the first time. I was playing Grand Theft Auto 4 and the screen freezed. I restarted it and everything worked well (i didn't played any games in the mean time) until yesterday.
I was working in Photoshop than the laptop restarted. He didn't even wanted to boot anymore, he restarted many more times. When he worked again i was trying to render a video....again : restarting. I went outside with the laptop and tried to render the video again. It worked! So...i guess the problem is that when he gets to warm he suddenly restarts...
But there's one more problem : when i move the laptop from a place to another, he restarts again. I just don't get it. It's a brand new laptop, as i told you, bought it last week. What can i do? I really need it and i cannot send it to the service becuase it will take too long...
Acer :: Aspire 4810T Freezes
Apr 21, 2010purchased a 4810t monday, arrived yesterday, love it, apart from the freezes!
i've had 3 freezes in the space of 24 hours, 1 while doing something in photoshop, 1 while bringing it out of hibernate and 1 running acer updater.
i've searched the forums and read about the freezes but thought it wouldnt happen to mine as its newer.
so my question is what can be done to stop the freezing? i've uninstalled all the bloatware, and uninstalled the intel storage control (i heard that helped) is there anything else I can do?
Acer :: Aspire 4530 Freezes
Dec 17, 2008I just got an Acer Aspire 4530 laptop (20 days ago) And got Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit just to see how buggy it was and where all the negativity was coming from. After maybe 10 days I realised that it doesn't go as fast on vista as Windows XP 64. There was also an occasion that the laptop's keyboard and touchpad would occasionally turn off, USB mouse works just fine, but have to RESTART. So I got Windows XP 64 bit installed (I didn't get offical Acer drivers, but drivers for the pieces of hardware on my machine individually.)
5 days later after installing Windows XP:
After about 30 minutes to an hour, the wifi turned off, the internet explorer rectangle in the taskbar changed to a different font, and the computer froze.
AFTER that I tried flashing the 1.3331 bios (Which is the same bios I had to start with, which is more like resetting the bios) but the problem was the same.
I have:
AMD athlon x2 64 bit at 1.9 Ghz
Nvidia Geforce 9100M G

Feb 14, 2015After logging in I get stuck in a black screen with cursor. Have tried shift or control with f8 and f12 to get out of this with no success. Understand I may have to reinstall video driver or BIOS?
If I leave laptop on all day it is working by the time I get home from work.

Jul 16, 2008I have an Acer Aspire 3000. I shut it down last night and started it up today. It gets to the login screen where I have to push ctrl + alt + del to log in. At this point it freezes. The touchpad and keys are nonresponsive. I can however get to the boot menu before this point.

Mar 29, 2009The problem is that my laptop was working fine and then yesterday morning it wouldn't boot correctly (stuck on vista login screen). It eventually worked but the cursor was sticking and the it was impossible to type in. What is more, the light on the laptop shows that the laptop is charged but the actual battery icon onscreen says that battery is at 0% (but plugged in and charging). Having spent some time searching for an explanation online (on another computer of course) I am worried that it may be a problem with the motherboard.....? Or is it just a RAM issue?

I've had the laptop for about 2 years and done clean installation of Windows multiple times to attempt to fix the problem. It happens to freeze unexpectedly during usage of the latop and even when I'm away and come back it is frozen which leads me to turning the laptop off and on. I do have SquareTrade warrenty on my laptop and I sent it in so I can try getting the problem and fixed; but I got it back.

Oct 29, 2014Whenever I close the lid on my Laptop let it sleep for a while I notice when I press enter to resume from that mains screen that it takes maybe 30secs just to load up, before it was always instant. Also my powercord is sort of lose so it goes in and out very fast then I notice that when my power cord comes out that my laptop also freezes for 30secs.
I scan my laptop everyday with AVG and Malwarebyts, I use CCleaner weekly and DeFraggler monthly, unless I download lots of files then I'll scan it and if it goes above 5-6% I do a full scan
I don't download much. The only games I have on here is WoW, RIFT, Path Of Exile, ArcheAge and 2 other small steam games. I don't use Itunes. On the buttom right corner where my clock is I only have up Raptr, AVG, CCleaner and that's it..
It's been doing this for maybe 2 weeks. I I use Windows 7. The only time I update my laptop is when I go to Control Panel and click "Windows Update" and see if there's any.
Acer Aspire 5742ZG :: Suddenly Screen Freezes And Turns Off
Feb 15, 2015Today I was using my laptop (Acer Aspire 5742G) normally and then suddenly my screen freezes and turns off. The picture at that moment when the screen froze was covered with green horizontal lines and some small green squares and then the screen switched off while the laptop continued to operate normally.
I tried to restart my laptop, but the screen does not turn on, and looks like laptop is working normally because I can hear the windows login sound (led indicators for WIFI and read data from the HDD are working). I tried to connect the laptop and TV via an HDMI cable, but the TV does not get any picture.
Acer Aspire E5-471-52B6 :: Touchpad Freezes Sometimes - Windows 8.1 64bit
Dec 31, 2014I'm strugling since 2 weeks with my brand new Acer Aspire E5-471-52B6 which has touchpad issues...
Symptoms: some times (this is very erratic) the touchpad freezes.
I'm not trying to run a different OS on the machine: I use the Windows 8.1 64-bit that comes with the machine.
I've downloaded and reinstalled the drivers (Intel Chipset, Intel serial IO, Synaptics Touchpad, Elantech Touchpad) from Support & Service web site...
And finally I've done a full system restore.
The touchpad responds is still erratic. What is weird is that the touchpad is shown as an HID mouse in the Windows Device Management (and not as a Synaptic or Elantech touchpad).
An external USB mouse works fine. What should I try now?
Acer Aspire V15 Nitro :: Freezes / Crashes And Shut Down On Boot-up
Jan 23, 2015So I just bought (came in yesterday) a brand new aspire v 15 nitro and now it often freezes and crashes/shuts down at boot-up. I turn it on i get the acer boot up screen and then it stops and after a minute or so and shuts down.
I have done some things to it:
-partitioned the hdd (150/800 GB)
-updated windows
-checked for updates through acer care center (only one intel update)
-installed: steam, origin (EA), firefox, openoffice, winrar, viper (plagiarism scanner wich i used on my previous pc) and a couple of games
-uninstalled mcafee
I did not change any strange settings, like disabling apps from start-up except for steam.

Feb 13, 2015I just got this laptop for a month and the touchpad is making me frustrating. The cursor lags, the drag function sometimes not working, the primary and secondary buttons interchange (the settings are not changed), and the left or right-click does not work properly. I got downloading the drivers of the mouse to restoring the pc to its original settings. Currently, the bios is updated but it is still happening though the update made the touchpad to become more responsive than before.

Sep 17, 2014I've been having problems with this device since the day I bought it. The second day I owned it a bad pixel jumped onto the screen. After pushing it for some time physically on the surface of the screen it dissapears for another day or two.
But my biggest problem is taht sometimes touchpad simply stops responding to any gestures or mouse cursor keeps shaking on my screen. The only ting I can do is turn off the whole touchpad and wait for it to repair itself.
Also it happens that for no apparent reason my notebook behaves like as if I had been pressing CRTL button all the time, while I dont do it at all. Pressing S key alone makes it run into save options. Left clicking on the page makes it open in a new bookmark.
Aspire E1 522 :: Windows 8 - Wireless Adapter Intermittently Not Recognized
Dec 23, 2014There is a recurring problem where the computer ceases to recognize the existence of the wireless adapter. It doesn't matter if the computer is running 8, or 8.1, nor if the computer is fully Updated. This seems to be a hardware problem or some sort of electrical short, not a driver problem. I have done a bit of research over the last four months or so (when the problem first started happening), and the problem I am experiencing is most likely caused by either a faulty card, or a card that is loose from its socket on the motherboard, and not by a driver/hardware discrepancy.The strange part is the intermittent nature of the computer's recognition of the device. Stranger still is that despite what appears to be a hardware problem, I have usually been able to fix it, either by:
Uninstalling then reinstalling the device's drivers,Restoring the computer to a previous point,Reformatting the computer using the built in Windows 8 feature, and/or Removing certain Windows Updates in reverse chronological order (until the integrated WiFi device is recognized).
Last night, the problem happened again. It was maybe the 4th or 5th time overall, and the 2nd time I was forced to "hard reformat" in an attempt to fix the problem. Until just a few minutes ago, when I partially deconstructed then reconstructed the device, the "hard reformat" method didn't fix the WiFi. After the "hard reformat" didn't work, Upon turning the computer back on, it recognized the wireless adapter, I connected to the network successfully, and here I am now, documenting what happened.
I essentially did nothing significant to the device, and now the wireless adapter is recognized. Why?
All that being said, I believe I have narrowed down the cause of the problem, at least in my case. I believe there is some sort of electrical short issue. The short is caused by one (or perhaps both) of the following:
Assuming the physical location of the wireless adapter is next to the location of the port for the AC adapter, I think the AC adapter, when moved or jiggled by a hand, somehow negatively interferes with the wireless adapter, causing it to fail.Shutting the lid of the computer, perhaps when combined with the above, and/or under other conditions (something having to do with power settings?, something having to do with the state of the network when the lid is shut?), causes the network adapter to fail.Something very similar used to happen on an old Dell notebook I had, as well as on a CR-48, towards the end of their lives. That is, in order for the internet to work, I had to have the AC adapter at certain angle when it was plugged into the computer. Otherwise the wireless connection would drop. It seems like there's a connection there (pun intended), but perhaps not?
