Acer ASPIRE 5520 Model ICW50. When I press the power button the light comes on and the fan spins but it shuts down every few seconds and repeats this action continuously. I have narrowed it down to a faulty motherboard. Has anyone been able to isolate the cause of this problem to a component or components on the motherboard?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently won and acer travelmate 5520 and I can't figure out how to disable the password that it asks you for upon startup.
To clarify, when I press the power button, the acer logo appears for a few seconds, and then I need to enter my password to continue with startup. I want to disable this password all together.
Dell studio 1737 Laptop... My battery has needed replacing for a long time ....
My power cable is looking a little tatty and recently started making a faint buzzing noise.
Despite these issues my laptop has continued to work fine, until recently....
When i plug in the power cable the light above the plug comes on for a second then goes off.
When i try to turn the laptop on (with or without battery) it turns on and starts it's usual boot up process, but then turns its self off after a couple of seconds.
For some reason every time I shut down my pc it restarts itself like 5 seconds after it turns off. I looked it up and someone said try unplugging the Ethernet cable. So I did and when I unplug when I shut it down it doesn't restart itself but only when I leave the Ethernet cable in it. Why is that? Also down on my currently connected icon by the clock why does it show that i'm connected to two networks? I had xp pro before and it only showed me connected to one network but on this new computer it shows me connected to two networks. Network 2 and Network 3, is that normal?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a HP ProBook 4530s, using Windows 7 64-bit OS, Intel Core i3-2310M CPU (2.10 GHz).My laptop is about 21 months old and I am facing some problems when puting my laptop into hibernate mode. Everything was fine for a long time - that is, when I put it in the hibernate mode it turned off and when I pressed the power on button it resumed. However, that isn't the case any longer.Now when I put it in the hibernate mode, it (usually) goes hibernating and after few seconds it turns back on (all by itself!). Sometimes it hibernates for 10 or 20 minutes (or even more) and then again, it turns back on all by itself!This problem just started occuring, I didn't install or update or do anything.

Blue light comes on and off. Checked all cables. Took to Office Depot, who said the battery might have some block on it, and to contact acer directly. Are there local acer repair shops?

When its plugged into an external monitor it is ok but as soon as you unplugged it the laptop screen comes on for a few seconds then goes dark. Do you think it is a back light problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I close the lid on my Laptop let it sleep for a while I notice when I press enter to resume from that mains screen that it takes maybe 30secs just to load up, before it was always instant. Also my powercord is sort of lose so it goes in and out very fast then I notice that when my power cord comes out that my laptop also freezes for 30secs.

I scan my laptop everyday with AVG and Malwarebyts, I use CCleaner weekly and DeFraggler monthly, unless I download lots of files then I'll scan it and if it goes above 5-6% I do a full scan

I don't download much. The only games I have on here is WoW, RIFT, Path Of Exile, ArcheAge and 2 other small steam games. I don't use Itunes. On the buttom right corner where my clock is I only have up Raptr, AVG, CCleaner and that's it..

It's been doing this for maybe 2 weeks. I I use Windows 7. The only time I update my laptop is when I go to Control Panel and click "Windows Update" and see if there's any.
Startup seems to be going as spec., Acer logo appears, circular arrow goes round then screen goes opaque but obviously still lit. Curser still responds but that's the end of the action.Â

The first time we experienced this problem I tried removing the battery and I placed the battery back again. I plugged the ac adaptor into another outlet. I was able to get a a greenlight on the battery and on the hard drive. For some reason I am not able to get a greenlight on both indicators. I tried plugging the laptop on another outlet. It seems I'm not able to power it up anymore. Is it the battery or the power adapter?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought an Acer Aspire D255E with a cracked display. I tested it and it worked fine. Replaced the display with a brand new one, and the result is that it comes on, displays the opening screen, briefly flashes what looks like the screen you get when you shut down abnormally,then powers down. It will also power down in about the same time if I F2 into the BIOS.

I've try to install windows xp, i've changed BIOS priority and put cd on first place, saved changes in BIOS and restarted my laptop and here comes a problem...
It will not boot windows from cd! I' ve tried with F8, F3 etc. I know that windows cd is ok because I've tried it on my old comp few minuts ago!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Aspire 5520-5912 laptop I am trouble shooting for a relative that randomly shuts down just before, or shortly after it boots to windows.
I have tested the hard drive in my Desktop and scanned it for viruses, swapped out the memory, re applied thermal paste on the cpu heat sink and made sure it was not clogged with dust.
I think I have it narrowed down to a bad MB or CPU but was wandering if anyone else has had any issues like this and what the problem was.
I think my cpu and gpu temps are too high. The idle temps are: cpu: 40-50°C, gpu: 60-70°C. I'm installing WoW now, and the cpu is 74°C, the gpu 75°C. My CPU is: AMD Turion 64 x2 TL-60 (2.0 GHz), graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G. I'm using SpeedFan to watch the temps.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new OTB acer aspire 5520, and on initial booting everything worked sweetly but when i am trying to access my crystal eye cam on YM or any IM programs it says the webcam is not connected, Now I checked device manager and there is no webcam, so i installed the driver from the erecovery management tool I tried first the BISON driver and utility without success upon installation the program says the computer should display a "found new hardware" message, but nothing showed up. then when it restarted my machine and when i checked on device manager still no cam... next i uninstalled the BISON driver and installed the 2nd one (SUYIN) with the same results. I searched the support and download section of ACER online and tried a third driver the CHICONY and still the same results.. Finally i re installed my system to full factory default and re tried everything still the same problems...

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having major problems with connecting to the wireless network in the office. It sees the network, allows me to enter the security credentials, then connects (with confimed internet connectivity) but drops out after 10-20 seconds. I have tried the wireless network at a friend's house which worked ok without any interruptions, so it is definitely nothing wrong with the hardware. I'm using a brand new Acer Aspire V3-572-56T3 on Windows 8.1, with all the latest drivers/patches loaded and have tried fiddling with many of the advanced settings for the network adapter to no avail. I logged on to the router to ensure all settings, encryption standards, channels etc. were matching but the problem keeps persisting. This has been ongoing for two days now and is driving me insane as I really need to have wi-fi working in the office. Plugging an ethernet cable straight into the router works fine but it's not the ideal solution (and is posing an OH&S hazard as it is laying on the floor).
