Dell :: Canadian Shipments, Where Do They Come From?
Feb 1, 2010The question is, in case the title is throwing you off. Where do the Canadian shipments from Dell come in from? The point of origin within the US.
The reason I ask is because obviously my package is comming in at some point but it was put on the truck at 9:11AM EST and depending on the distance ( and customs ) it could be here either tomorrow(as seen with some other members) or later this week.
Normally My packages are sent out on the friday and received on the monday or tuesday.
This is the first time dell's shipped out a pc for me on a weekday not preceeding a weekend

Jan 11, 2009It's getting kind of frustrating, shopping on the US site, coming up with a nice configuration at a good price, and then going to the Canadian site, having half the options, and paying 1/3rd more versus strict currency exchange.
Are there ANY deals to be had for Canadians right now? I don't know when the next Mystery Coupon will be on, and otherwise I can find zero ways to get any sort of discount on a new Studio XPS 13.

Mar 20, 2010I am able to get the Studio XPS 1647 for $1634 ($1552 after Bing Cashback) that has the following:
- Intel Core i5 540M
- 4GB RAM
- 500 GB HDD
- RGBLED LCD display
- Blu-ray
- Bluetooth
- 6-cell battery
Would this be considered a good deal, or does anyone know of any other deals (e-value codes, coupon codes, etc.) for the Studio XPS 1647?
Also, I noticed some people are wanting the ATI 5000 series for the SXPS 16. What are the benefits of the 5000 series over the 4670 and what is the holdup? Does it require a new MB layout or something? I will mainly be using my computer for Internet/email, photo editing, and occasional HD video and DVD editing...I am not a PC gamer. So, would it worth waiting for the 5000 series? I'm sure the 4670 will suit me just fine, but I've read that it is 'last year's technology' and I generally like to try to get the latest available technology at the time of purchase...

May 17, 2009Other than the Dell website, would anyone know of any deals/coupons or place where I can buy the Dell M6400 laptop for the cheapest price in USA or Canada?
I can't work with my old laptop anymore as it was handed down to me by my brother who is a programmer..
I need a new laptop geared for heavy graphics, rendering, video editing, multi-tasking, and feel the Dell M6400 will take care of all that.

Jan 27, 2009I just came across a disturbing photo in the big Z series thread of a so-called "Canadian" keyboard littered with far too many labels and colors, all in the name of being bilingual.

My question is, is this really what Sony Canada is sending out on any notebook listed with a bilingual keyboard? It's horrible! Not only is it far more confusing to figure out what's where, but it has the European L-shaped Enter key and repositioned backslash which I simply cannot live with (20 years using keyboards the "other way" have pretty much conditioned me).
I guess they got tired of making a custom model for 23% of the population, and would rather annoy the other 77%.
My Canadian SZ160P I bought 3 years ago came with a "normal" keyboard, I was completely surprised to find this out now. And just after I had talked myself out of the Dell Studio XPS 13.
Is there ANY WAY to get a English keyboard in Canada? CTO maybe?
Or am I simply going to have to buy from the US and deal with having no warranty, because there is no sale with that keyboard...

May 18, 2009I'm thinking of purchasing the M6400 laptop. I cannot stand my current laptop anymore, the Inspiron 9300 . It doesn't suit the tasks I'm involved with... it was handed down to me by my brother who is a programmer while I'm in the graphics/media field.
So I was wondering if any of you know where I can buy the m6400 for the cheapest price? or perhaps any coupons or deals that you may know of.
I'm a student and can't afford the m6400 at the current price on dell's website or without any coupons or deals...
Also I was wondering what is an alternative laptop to the Dell M6400. I'd love one with a smaller screen size but with a similar performance, although there can be some compromise. I will be using the laptop mainly for architectural renderings, 3d modelling, animation, graphics, multi-tasking between softwares etc... I'd like one with 8GB Ram (no need for ability to upgrade to 16GB etc like the m6400)
I'm hoping the alternative will be much cheaper than the m6400 due to the smaller size, and lower specs etc.
I talked to the dell help guy and he recommended the XPS studio 13 model... i don't trust him as he didn't seem too knowledgeable...

glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option.

Dell Vostro 3460 :: Not Boot Only Loads The Dell Logo And Then Shows A Black Page
Feb 9, 2013my laptop vostro 3460 won't boot any more. When I turn it on it loads the Dell logo (I suppose it passes the POST) but then it just shows a black page. It could be anything, but I guess that it may have something to do with Windows 8 and the UEFI system. I also would be quite happy to install linux mint and get rid of Windows, but I don't know how to change the boot priority order.
So my questions are:
1 is it a hardware issue ? if not, can I solve my problem easily ?
2 how can I change the boot priority order, to install mint ?
