I ordered my inspiron laptop December 27th 2008 they originally gave me a estmated ship date of January 16th! I got confirmation it has left the dell facility and fedex has it and it's only January 4th! When I track it ,
it says being delivered on the 6th! I was just wondering why it left Nashville tennesse last night and has not updated since? Is it sitting somewhere in between
So far, uninstalling all of them from Safe Mode brought my system back. Installing (A) and (B) back in resulted in BSOD on boot again. Uninstalled (A) and the BSOD remained. Uninstalled (B) and the BSOD remained. Then I rebooted into safe mode, did nothing, then booted back into normal and the system is OK again.
I reeeeally don't have time to redo the OS from scratch. I'd have to download all like 90 of those Dell drivers and figure out their install order and everything.... Blegh. (Essentially that would mean this laptop sits closed on the shelf until I have time, which will be somewhere around mid-January 2009.)
It's getting kind of frustrating, shopping on the US site, coming up with a nice configuration at a good price, and then going to the Canadian site, having half the options, and paying 1/3rd more versus strict currency exchange.
Are there ANY deals to be had for Canadians right now? I don't know when the next Mystery Coupon will be on, and otherwise I can find zero ways to get any sort of discount on a new Studio XPS 13.
Would this be considered a good deal, or does anyone know of any other deals (e-value codes, coupon codes, etc.) for the Studio XPS 1647?
Also, I noticed some people are wanting the ATI 5000 series for the SXPS 16. What are the benefits of the 5000 series over the 4670 and what is the holdup? Does it require a new MB layout or something? I will mainly be using my computer for Internet/email, photo editing, and occasional HD video and DVD editing...I am not a PC gamer. So, would it worth waiting for the 5000 series? I'm sure the 4670 will suit me just fine, but I've read that it is 'last year's technology' and I generally like to try to get the latest available technology at the time of purchase...
Both my original 9-cell and the knock off replacement I bought for my Vostro 1500 have broken on me. Where can I get an OEM replacement for a reasonable price?
Other than the Dell website, would anyone know of any deals/coupons or place where I can buy the Dell M6400 laptop for the cheapest price in USA or Canada?
I can't work with my old laptop anymore as it was handed down to me by my brother who is a programmer..
I need a new laptop geared for heavy graphics, rendering, video editing, multi-tasking, and feel the Dell M6400 will take care of all that.
I'm starting school in the fall and have 4 months before I'll be needing my computer. I want to get a Z11, and apparently, there is a 7% educational discount on RTS models
I'm thinking of purchasing the M6400 laptop. I cannot stand my current laptop anymore, the Inspiron 9300 . It doesn't suit the tasks I'm involved with... it was handed down to me by my brother who is a programmer while I'm in the graphics/media field.
So I was wondering if any of you know where I can buy the m6400 for the cheapest price? or perhaps any coupons or deals that you may know of.
I'm a student and can't afford the m6400 at the current price on dell's website or without any coupons or deals...
Also I was wondering what is an alternative laptop to the Dell M6400. I'd love one with a smaller screen size but with a similar performance, although there can be some compromise. I will be using the laptop mainly for architectural renderings, 3d modelling, animation, graphics, multi-tasking between softwares etc... I'd like one with 8GB Ram (no need for ability to upgrade to 16GB etc like the m6400)
I'm hoping the alternative will be much cheaper than the m6400 due to the smaller size, and lower specs etc.
I talked to the dell help guy and he recommended the XPS studio 13 model... i don't trust him as he didn't seem too knowledgeable...
How much longer is this going to take? I have seen the average is 2 to 3 days but mine has been in over 5 days now. The last time I ordered a notebook from Dell they showed in production for a week after I recieved it. I'm afraid I'm going to come home and it is going to sit on my porch all day.
Dell is sending me a replacement laptop and when I check the order details, it was placed on the 19th, it says In Production. When i call to check the status, it says my order is currently being processed. Normally replacement laptops are refurbs they just pull from teh outlet store. The delivery date is also "currently not available"
i received my brand new studio laptop and stupid me droped it in the first 20 min of taking it out of the box and now the left side plastic is stickin out and its damaged, but its working fine.
question is can i return it and get it replaced? since its been like 1 day i got it.
I really need to know if i can get them to give me a break from being just a week after the 30 days warranty, should i tell them about the B.B.B.?
Would that matter, cuz i have many heat issues with my sxps16? I don't think that's fair to get a new one and take the chance of getting their refurb parts
Alright, its been about 7 days for me now , and i am enjoying it. It felt 10 Here are a few things that i found answers too using my system, mostly you wont find anywhere properly ...
1. HDMI is 1.3 and i got a HDMI 1.3 cable 15ft for about 5$ and it can transfer HD AUDIO too over the cable. So its both sound and video over the same cable and it works flawlessly.
2. I have 1080p screen so my signal is 1080p , but my TV is most likely 720p (VIZIO 32 inch 2 years old - bought from costco) and i am able to see very well , it automatically converts from 1080p to 720p and it looks perfect on TV and i can hear the TV audio is stere
I got my m1330 used with 1 light of battery health lit. I've been using it fairly for a month. One time I noticed I got only about 1 hour on battery power.
I don't know... i'm having serious problems with this notebook. It was very slow because got really hot until I upgraded it to A15 where it somehow works... What should be done for me to request a replacement?....
I ordered a new studio 17, good specs and all for my girlfriend- but its way too big and heavy for her...and she absolutely hates the extra five finger key set...
So there is nothing physically wrong with the unit, but I would like to return it, without paying the restocking fee.
Long story short, i got a replacement refurbished SXPS 1645 system for a E1505 (problems with the E1505 started 12/09/09, after replacing tons of parts problems persisted as of 03/15/10 they approved a dispatch for replacement system), shipped 03/26/10, received 03/29/10(?) 111 days later I had a working computer again, needless to say i am very happy with the replacement! (Maybe i spoke too soon now 05/05) (attached are a few comparison shots to a Gateway LT-2005u 10" netbook...my cheap temporary computer I bought in Dec. to use until Dell got everything fixed)
After starting to read the forums here I am concerned about the longevity of the computer, don't get me wrong, i love the computer...its an awesome replacement But i've already started to notice some issues/problems with the refurb I got...Ok the title is answered, i bought Dell's expensive warranty extension 2 years/$500....
My one week old z540 just did a freaky thing... One of the LED backlights (near center of screen) went on the blink a few times then came back on. It looked like a dark vertical stripe coming up from the bottom. I run at only 33% brightness in advanced power management, and I'm plugged into AC power.
I guess I've got a year (minus a week) to send in for repair if it continues to go blinky, and I'll be checking with my seller on their return policy. Overall I'm happy with my Z, but this combined with the battery drain issue (I loose 10% overnight) is making me regret buying VAIO.
The problem got waaay worse today, less than two weeks of use Now the whole screen goes completely black except 4 or 5 of the backlights and others that flicker randomly (see picture below). I can temporarily get it back to normal if I reboot or even close the lid. But if I change the brightness to anything but 100%, then whole screen goes dark.
I bought an Extenza 4420 a few weeks ago, and the screen cracked after only a week. I did not drop it or step on it or abuse it. Acer told me a replacement screen would cost $450 plus shipping costs. This doesn't seem right. The customer service at the store where I bought it, and also when I called Acer's customer service line offered no help at all.
My question is if there is anything I can do about it other than replacing the screen at my cost?
I bought an HDX16t on Saturday and got the default DVD drive w/out blu-ray support because the blu-ray was $50 more and I don't think I'd use it that much. With that said, I'd definitely like to have a blu-ray drive if it was free. So this morning I looked and the upgrade is now free.
It's probably unlikely, but would HP allow me to add the blu-ray drive to my order? Has anyone had success getting HP to do something like this? I placed the order on the 7th and it's estimated to be built by the 16th.
Received dv3t CTO couple of days ago from HP. I am not even done clean installing on the notebook, and when I opened the HP total care advisor today, it was showing battery condition as poor. I ran the battery check tool, and it shows battery color as Red, battery health indicator as "Replace" and a message that says "The battery check has detected a failure. The battery may be covered by your HP warranty." I contacted HP chat and rep said they are sending me a new battery. I dont install HP total care advisor after clean install ever, so in a way I am glad this software detected the battery problem before I clean installed the system and wiped out this software, and I got battery replacement. Makes me wonder if this software should be installed after clean install. If I want to install it after clean, where do I download it from?
My problem with Lenovo G470 is this: every 10, 12 days it shutdowns and can't use it for a time. I'm doing anything (listening to music, writting a text, etc) or sometimes I'm afk and just doing nothing and it happens anyway. And then, for a time it's impossible to start windows. I turn on the laptop and the Lenovo logo appears, but then just shuts down. Maybe 4-5 hours later it starts to work ok again. Im not sure aboout this because when this happen i usually leave it there and come back the next day.
Also, this happens on battery or plugged in. Is the same. Another weird thing that occurs sometimes is that when I'm using it on battery and I turn it off, the laptop shutdown, but the on/off button light doesn't turns off. I need to plug it in to solve this. I don't know if could be related, but I replaced the W7 home basic with the ultimate version. While I had it with home basic this didn't happened, but it was a short time (2 days) so I couldn't determine if this is related. Anyway I have the recovery CDs if a probable solution would be that.
I've read here about solutions like flashing the bios. I didn't do it but I could try it if you think it could work. I don't know if there are new updates. The truth is I'm a total newbie on flashing the bios.I can't turn on the laptop with the on/off button. But if I press space and escape it turns on again, and fails again of course.
I left my 15" (late 2008) MacBook Pro in sleep for a few days, and when I opened it again today there are red dots flickering across shades of black on my external monitor, with both the 9600M and the 9400M. Since so many people leave their MacBook Pro on all of the time (I don't usually), I'm assuming that I haven't damaged anything. My MacBook Pro didn't seem hot, either. After restarting my MBP (and installing the new updates), the flickering red dots are still there.
Do you think that this will go away if I leave the system off for a day or that the logic board/video card is permanently damaged? I really, really don't trust that the Genius Bar could do a repair without damaging my MBP, and I really never take it anywhere so I wouldn't have a way to bring my MBP in that I would be happy with without spending money on a case. What are the chances that I could get a replacement MacBook Pro or a $2500 credit? I figure that a Mac Pro or an iMac would suit me better, anyway, since I don't travel with my MacBook Pro. My MBP is in pristine condition (you literally wouldn't be able to tell between mine and a brand new MBP) partly because I always have it hooked up to an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor, and because I prefer it that way, it helps resale as well. I wouldn't want to be dissatisfied with a repair for a $2500 system, which I could already see happening, so I'd really just like a replacement system if this problem doesn't go away...
Is it normal that dell.ca would have fewer choices of screens than dell.com? I'm looking at the studio 15, and dell.com lists Hi Resolution/Bright,
glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option.
I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and when I plugged in my monitor and keyboard into the docking station, they were not recognized. But I can plug them into the laptop while docked and they are recognized.
