View 9 RepliesHow do i have my screen stay bright after i have taken out my charger.
View 9 RepliesI've noticed that the screen doesn't seem to be evenly lit. For example when I set the desktop background to black, it looks pretty black at the top of the screen, but as I look further down towards the bottom it turns almost medium gray/blue-ish.
I've tried all brightness, contrast and gamma settings with no luck.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and is it a reason for sending back the laptop? Or is this something "you get" for buying a lower-end laptop like the 1545?
Why my screen dims before I login. I got this new laptop and it loads up it's bright then it dims before I login. I tried updating the video drivers it came bright again. It ask me to reboot. The same problem before I login. It doesn't matter if it's plug in or on battery.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter having my XPS 13 for a couple of months I have noticed a bright blemish appearing on the screen.
It remains in the same place regardless of screen aspect so it seems to be the screen itself rather than a software/driver issue.
Rather than being one bright pixel it appears as an indistinct and irregular bright patch roughly in the middle of the screen.
What is happening with the laptop, sometimes I noticed my laptop screen will flicker(or a bright flash as if someone was taking a picture). When I go to the event viewer it tells me Desktop windows service manager has been disabled by the windows system assessment tool. I'I have the nvidia graphics card + Intel(using optimus technology),running windows 7 professional 64 bit.
I forgot to mention when playing videos I think the graphic card makes a strange noise like there isn't enough power or something (Not 100% sure)
I have nvidia gt555 with intel Optimus
Intel 2670m
8GB of RAM
Windows 7 professional
I tried to do a fresh install of windows 7 but the problem still persists and I cannot test it since I have deleted the recovery Drive. How do I test if the graphics card is working properly
I need a notebook for outside in the sun use. Between 14"-16" that has a very BRIGHT screen. I've tried the Envy 15 w/Matte and it's too dim. Would you recommend the new EliteBook 8540w or 8440w? Do these have really bright screens that are good for outside use? I need good battery life too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with the screen of my laptop. had bought the laptop jus 3 days back.. :( the problem I am facing is that... once I close my lid and open in in a few seconds, it still gives me a blck scree which does not respond. however If the let the lid be closed for a longer period life 10 sec it works normally. Previously today I experienced an other issue, that was, once I closed the lid and opened it back, it gave me a black screen with one bright spot. bt this was gone after pressing the power button a few times.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I have noticed a problem with the display in my X220 (type 4290-W1B). There is a small, white spot (about 1 mm diameter), clearly visible on the screen. It doesn't look like a normal bad pixel, but like a problem with the background light, or something. It is not visible when black color is displayed. The laptop was bought about 3 months ago and everything was OK until yesterday.
I have attached some pictures of this dot, but it is difficult to capture it with the camera (it is much more visible in real). I have marked the spot (it is in the middle of the circle). The pics are in high resolution so you can zoom in.
What should I do now? I have heard , that the Lenovo bad pixel policy is 3 bad pixel per display...

At the top of the screen, images look darker and crisper and at the bottom they look more bright and less detail.
Here's an example of an icon that should look the same, but it looks distinctly different (and it's not the camera exposure -- what you see is more or less how it is). Should I return the machine and get another? Do you think Apple will even consider it an issue if I wanted to get it replaced? Do you guys have the same thing? I only noticed when I had a lot of the same icon scattered on my desktop and the same icon looks noticeably different. Of course, I am always the person to notice anything about electronics whereas other people would never have so much as a clue. even though the video files are what got me seeing that things are different, you can kind of see it with the folder icons as well.
I have a new T540p with Windows 8.1 and fn+f5/f6 do nothing, while sound buttons work fine. Is there any way to change screen backlight brightness, coz it too birght for me by default.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI turn my laptop on and the screen is dim but I can see everything fine it works fine but then I plug in the power and the screen brightens up to normal then 3 seconds later it goes blank everythin in the back round is still running everything is fine but I can't do anything because the screen is blank. So I usually have to turn it off and let the battery charge all the way which it does and that works fine. So then I can start it up on the battery working fine but as soon as I go to charge it while its on the screen goes blank...
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhenever I plug in the charger the screen blinks black for a second, but goes back to normal afterward, and lags the computer for a few seconds (i figured that because my music or videos skips on WMP). The same thing happens when I unplug the charger. I didn't used to have this problem, it started happening when I reinstalled windows xp pro or updated to service package 2. But the previous times when I reinstalled windows, it never gave me this problem. The first time my brother reinstalled Windows he had this problem, and recently just reinstalled windows and he doesn't have this problem. Also, we have the same exact laptop and we used the same Windows XP Pro. disc.I don't know how to bring up all my information, I'm guessing its called BIOS, but I have a Dell Latitude D531, it has AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56, 1gb of RAM, using SP2, using an OEM battery and charger(I highly doubt the battery and charger are the problem, but I thought I should mention that).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer on Jan. 1st and so far I love it, however, a few days ago I noticed that everytime I connect or disconnect my charger the screen goes black for a few seconds. It's not the worse problem however it is extremely annoying! I tried checking both the intel graphics settings and power management settings to see if an adjudtment would work but it has not.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHe says the only things that are not working for sure are the keyboard, LCD, and 1 of the RAM sticks, the one located underneath the keyboard.
However, he says the motherboard is slightly bent and the CPU looks like its in good working condition, so he is pretty much selling the CPU (T7200) 60gb hard drive, 512mb ddr2, 6 cell battery, wireless card, and fan cooler, and possibly dvd drive i haven't heard back from him.
I'm really interested in the CPU, but I don't know if it works, neither does he. He just states that the laptop won't start.
My problem is when I try to watch a movie or play an audio CD, the sound comes out very distorted. This problem doesn't happen when I watch videos on the internet or anything loaded onto my computer or when I rip a CD/DVD or burn one. The sound has the same distorted quality no matter what program I use.
I've tried updating the driver, disabling digital playback (vs. analog), and everything else I could think of. Please help!

What is tha largest HDD a DELL INSPIRON 640M (E1405 in US?) can take?
Has any one found success with a 320GB 7200 RPM HDD?
Also has anyone tried installing Windows server 2003? As a student I am eligible for a license
I am working on a friends laptop, a Dell Inpiron e1405, and it won't power on. He had it start downloading an update for his iPod walked away for a bit and when he came back, the computer was off and it won't turn back on. We have tested his power cord with a multi-meter and we know the right amount of power is getting to his laptop. When we plug it into the wall, the LED comes on indicating the battery is charging. Also, about every 5th time we push the power button, the power LED lights up then goes off.
What I tried:
I unplugged the power cord and took out the battery and the CMOS battery then held down the power button for a minute. Then I put it back together and nothing happened.
I took the entire laptop apart so that it was just a motherboard in the case with nothing else attached. Then I put everything back in to see it something just needed reseated. Nothing yet.
I have an Intel 1.6 ghz T2050 Core Duo, and I was wondering what sort of upgrades I can install to increase the performance of my laptop?
Can I install a faster Core Duo processor? Can I install a Core 2 Duo processor without changing the motherboard?
curious to find out what sort of upgrades I can install on my laptop,
I am thinking of upgrading the hard drive on my Dell E1405. I was just curious if there is some kind of limit as to how big a drive I can get or is just whatever my wallet will tolerate.
In addition, can anyone point me to the "correct" hard-drive that my laptop supports? (I'm assuming it's a SATA drive.)
I wasn't sure what type (if there is one) that I need to buy for my laptop. Just anything on amazon or fry.com, or something along those lines.
I have a problem with my E1405 with its lcd backlight turned off about 1 second after opening the lid.
I can still see Windows running when I look really closely.
According to what I've read it's most probably a faulty inverter. So I bought a replacement off eBay and installed it
I have a E1405 that quit working. I replaced the keypad and got a new battery. It won't boot. The only thing that happens is the Numlock, Caps lock and a third led, which escapes me now comes on and stays on for about thirty seconds. I checked to see if the ram was loose, removed and re-installed the cmos battery, even tried my spare HD. I am thinking the system board might be toast.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my Dell Studio 15 today. Everything seems fine except for the fact that the screen hurts my eyes ....
I tried lowering the brightness levels but it really is the contrast. My older laptop (inspiron) was fine. What can I do?
I was going to buy a XPS, but I really have to have a back lit keyboard so I am most likely going to buy a Studio 15.
How bright is the keyboard back lighting? Is it as bright as the Macbook Pros?
On the start-up diagonstic the error code 2000-0146 came up. The computer is booting fine, though sometimes does not shuts down properly. Should I look into getting a new hard drive right now. Is it going bad?
