I received a call from a guy who was clearly calling from India today about ComgpleteCare. It seemed that he already had all my info and apparently ordered CompleteCare before I even confirmed it.
My son had picked up the phone, was given a confirmation number, and my son then gave the phone to me. When I was given the phone, the guy said that he wanted to verify a few things. He asked me for my credit card number, which I stupidly gave to him. He then said that CompleteCare was ordered .....
I paid extra for 3 years of completecare when I bought my SXPS16. Recently, I found a number of scratches on the inside of the screen and called them up hoping for a replacement screen. They told me that I'd have to send it in. Do I really not have the onsite? I wouldn't have paid extra for the warranty had I known that they wouldn't send a tech if problems arose.
When I bought my laptop, I was offered 5 years of Dell Complete Care Accidental Damage Protection even though I only had ONE year limited warranty. This was all over Dell Chat online support.
The representative assured me that I did NOT have to extend my warranty past one year in order to take advantage of five years of accidental care.
In other words, I would have no coverage on manufacturer's defects past the first year, but if I dropped my laptop four years down the road, Dell would replace or repair it.
If you're just gonna tl;dr, read the first two and the very last paragraph, and look at the specs in sig.
I searched pretty thoroughly through the forums when I started my completecare process, but found no info, so I think this might be helpful for other people wondering what the Complete Care System Exchange / Replacement Warranty process is like.
So I've had a number of parts placed on the e1505 I purchased in summer 2006, every single component and plastic at least once except for the screen itself, a wsxga+ 1680x1050 - they literally don't sell these in laptops anymore.
It took a catastrophic spill outside my house on April 21st (i think), I tried to save it, but couldn't - screen had shattered, back left corner had bent up about an inch (heatsink assembly included), right hinge torn apart, but it still booted! I could plug in an external monitor and get somewhat though the boot phase (never bothered to fully boot back into windows after that)
Called in on the 22nd, they next-dayed a box, and i shipped it out on the 23rd.
Depot got in on the 28th according to FedEx, but I hadn't heard from them so I called in on the 29th to find out that the depot had in fact found there was fatal damage, and they were waiting on approval for a System Exchange .....
I recently ordered the Studio XPS 13 (1340) with the Nvidia 9500M hybrid SLI GFX card.
I check the website today and they now offer the Nvidia Geforce N10m- GS as a video card option, this is the code name for the Geforce G 210M!
I called dell and they were nice enough to update my order.
I cannot find a single benchmark on this hybrid SLI config (still using the integrated 9400m I assume).
I might be one of the first to benchmark it! You can expect a review.

I had just placed an order for 3 Latitude D630, but by an error I ordered 4 of them, it does not really matter as I could send it back,
but I am not sure yet if I might need it or not as I initially only needed 3 of them.
I was planning to use them for some side training with my company, where I will use these computers to teach the other employees in various programs, like Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver (I am a Adobe fan),
also the office 2007 package as many have not made the transition yet, also some needs the basic of Vista imprinted in their brain so that they may work more efficiently.
I also just love the look of the Latitude computers, they are so plain and not full of lights and useless buttons placed in the wrong places .....
I have no idea what a LED vs LCD screen is supposed to look like so i want to make sure that I received the LED screen as ordered. I am running vista ultimate.
Well, this morning working in the TZ wasn't at all the same..even the most simple task like opening the control panel it makes for ever...Is very strange, just from today! It doesn't even open some things as disk defragmenter, is incredibly slow, what can I do?
I checked the task manager, the processes are 64 but the strange is that the CPU Usage is stuck to 100%..
Can't seem to find a latitude with the specs I want. Unfortunately, when I find it, the system is gone thats what I get for being slow. My question is if I call Dell, how is the pricing over the phone compare to online and would I be able to use a coupon over the phone?
Got my studio xps 16 yesterday, love it but have an issue. In call of duty 4 i can only seem to get a limited number of resolutions even if i change the aspect ratio from 4:3, 16:9 etc. For example i have no resolution in between 1280*1024 and 1920*1080. Need a 1600*1200 option. Changing the aspect ratio in l4d gave me more options but this fix doesnt work in cod 4.
i got cod5: waw recently. played only multiplayer so far.
problem: it already crashed three times to a bluescreen.
i tried to change the video driver from 180.42 to stock dell 175.75. same problem.
i used no overclock. atitool off. no background processes.
i guess it is the game, cause i played cod4 for a LONG time and never had this issue. also played through bioshock, farcry2, etc. never a bluescreen there.
I just last week received my 1530 and loaded COD4 on it 2 days ago. It plays well, but when the action gets intense, I get a pretty serious frame lag.
I have played around with the settings in an attempt to resolve it, but don't really know what I am doing or where to start. Can someone recommend the first few most effective settings changes?
Dell XPS M1530 | T8300 | 4GB RAM | 15.4" LED LCD (1440x900) | 256MB 8600M GT | 320GB 7200RPM | Vista Home Premium |
I've got a 1555 spec'd out with a 25% discount coupon code applied($1154 to $865). I was wondering if anyone thought it was worthwhile to call Dell up and try to get them to offer me an even better deal. There's nothing else I really want....I mean, I guess they could up me from a P8600 to a P8700, but that's about it. So I wonder if I could get them down to an even $800. Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm on a very limited budget, so every bit helps...
So the technician successfully replaced my video card and everything was great and fine with the world. I tried it out on Call of Duty 4 and checked the temps which peaked at a MUCH lower level so I thought I was good to go and I was happy. The only problem I had was a small amount of choppyness in the game, but I just figured I had the settings too high and I had not overclocked it at all. No problem.... So now today I wanted to play good old Oblivion and I figured this would need some overclocking because well....its Oblivion. So I start up ATI Tool and overclock it to around 620 mhz core and 720 mhx memory...Not too much overclock considering some of you have got yours to like 650 or higher and 800 in the memory department... Well I was just about to start playing when after the game loads there is no character on the screen just grey lines... So I figure maybe I overclocked it to much? I turned it down about 10 to 20 mhz and I still had some artifacts? I pretty much turned overclocking so far down I would now consider it slightly pushing the card. So I try to play oblivion and it is really choppy. Before I got this new card I had some pretty bad heat problems and crashing because of it, but I could overclock it to a MUCH higher level than that of this non heat problematic card?
So my question to all of you highly intelligent and knowledgeable people of this forum is do I have a bum card or is something else the matter? Sorry for such a long post I just felt my story needed to be fully explained so I could receive the best support...
I finally received my 2530p today, and it's a thing of beauty
The only slightly annoying bit is that HP delivered a British wall contact instead of a general European one, probably because I ordered a British keyboard. But I might still have a suitable cable somewhere, or use an adapter instead.
Anyway, Vista is preinstalled on this computer and I could also opt for XP instead. The manual doesn't say how to do that. Can smoeone explain to me how to install XP? Someone mentioned earlier that I should make a backup disk for Vista anyway. So what's the general workflow? Get the computer up and running as is, make backup disk, somehow install XP over it?
With the base Macbook Pro, how will the following titles work:
1.) TF2 2.) L4D 3.) Call of Duty: Modern/WaW
I'm guessing the default of 2gig ram is going to hurt. I would upgrade in the near future to 4. I'm not looking to put AA/AF on, but I would like a smooth framerate at the native resolution.
I have a HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC, whem I used skype video call, the image of video is upside down, and I can not find any way to change the webcam hp truevision driver on Windows 8. How to make the video image back to normal?
Is it normal that dell.ca would have fewer choices of screens than dell.com? I'm looking at the studio 15, and dell.com lists Hi Resolution/Bright,
glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option.
I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and when I plugged in my monitor and keyboard into the docking station, they were not recognized. But I can plug them into the laptop while docked and they are recognized.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 purchased about 2 and a half years ago. I was just deleting some random programs which I don't ever use, and accidentally clicked on uninstall Dell Data Safe Local Back up.
How to reinstall it? I tried to do so by clicking this link [URL] .... but it just came up with an error message.
my laptop vostro 3460 won't boot any more. When I turn it on it loads the Dell logo (I suppose it passes the POST) but then it just shows a black page. It could be anything, but I guess that it may have something to do with Windows 8 and the UEFI system. I also would be quite happy to install linux mint and get rid of Windows, but I don't know how to change the boot priority order.
So my questions are:
1 is it a hardware issue ? if not, can I solve my problem easily ?
2 how can I change the boot priority order, to install mint ?
