I've wondered about this while I was shopping for my Studio 15 and now I'm helping another NBR user also find one via Dell Outlet.
Graphite Gray (apparently no longer available on new models) was offered with Black, Red, Blue or Pink trim. What areas of the notebook are in the "trim" color? Also, can anyone describe the shade of blue used on the Graphite Gray with Blue Trim?
Looking on Dell outlet and noticed that color scheme. I was wondering how it looks since I was planning on a Jet Black, but the Graphite Grey sounds nice too

I downloaded HwInfo32 and it says my firmware version is "Drive Revision: VBM24D1Q"
And then below it shows "TRIM Command: Supported (Indeterminate Read After TRIM)"
Does this mean mine already has the trim firmware?
I have continuously through about my Vaio P because it has a 64gb SSD. Does the P have garbage cleanup "TRIM" for its SSD?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I was still confused about whether or not the SXPS Samsung SSDs would be able to accept the future firmware update (and thus be able to support TRIM). I contacted Dell's tech support via email and was told that the drives will support TRIM (though on 2 occasions he called it TRIP). I am not inspired by his lack of knowledge regarding the proper term and dont think that he is right. If I save the email would this help my case of getting a SSD from Dell in the future that does actually support TRIM?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a TT190 with a factory-installed SSD. As many of you are probably aware, Windows 7 support for TRIM greatly improves the performance of an SSD that is used over time. But the drive must support it.
Recently Intel, Samsung, Corsair and some other manufacturers have released new firmware for their SSDs that supports TRIM.
My TT190 contains a Samsung MMCQE28GFMUP-MVA SSD drive. I suspect that Sony uses that same drive (or drives from the same series) in other Vaio models.
I wanted to understand if there is any TRIM firmware already released or planned for this drive, so I sent an email to the relevant support group in Samsung. After two weeks I received the following reply:

Thank you for your inquiry to Samsung Semiconductor.
At the end of this month or, if delayed, next month, we will open a web site on which all FW updates (including the VBM19C1Q, with ATA-TRIM) and tools will be available for easy update all devices PM800.
Unfortunately, the SSD model MMCQE28GFMUP-MVA is not supported in this FW update (it is not PM800 series) and there will be no support for TRIM in the future.
We do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience using our products

I got a Dell Latitude E4200 with a Samsung SSD PB22-JS3 TM 64GB drive. Does anyone know if its firmware can be upgraded to support TRIM in Windows 7? Current
firmware version is VBM19D1Q. Seems like the version that support TRIM is VBM19C1Q. Doesnt that seem like a downgrade? I've had my notebook since October 2009 so I dont think it has TRIM support from the factory.

I am looking very seriously at the FW and have a question about the FW. I was looking at the color choices and one choice was Titanium Gray. Looking at the site the Gray portion almost looks black. My question, is it Black?

just got my Studio's palm rest replaced today since the touchpad freaked out after I accidentally spilled water on it, thank God for complete warranty.
However, the replacement palm rest seems to have the pattern on which came with my old Studio, the graphite pattern. Here are some before and after pics, and some pics showing what happens when the media panel does the all buttons stay lit glitch.
This an example of the later palm rests. However, I had this on my Studio before the palm rest change because I received a replacement which had the newer palm rest. So, this is the before picture .....
A few days ago I fired up my dv6 Pavilion 3240us and it did something weird. The colors are sort of out of whack. Bright white area show as Cyan and dark areas (black) are a sort of Burgundy or deep red. I can adjust the contrast down a little and the brightness down to -13 and the cyan mostly goes away, but the dark areas are even more more red.
I update the Catalyst app and drivers and did a complete update of Windows 7 (which took around 24 hours and it still wants more time) to no avail.
How did it happen? One day it was working perfectly and it shut down normally. The next day it was screwed up. Nothing happened to the machine between those times. I would show you pictures but I've found that screenshots of it look normal on other machines, eg: my desktop.
At one point yesterday when I tried playing a game on it the problen suddenly cleared up. That lasted for a few minutes before reverting the the screwed up state.
I am writing this on it; it does work. But trying to look at videos or most pictures or games it looks really wild, many times too strange to see what's going on.
I started to have a little issue with my LCD..Sometimes when I touch it on the top of the screen( where is webcam) or when I change the angle of the screen, the screen change to this error (greeen color is "error color"):
View 7 Replies View RelatedI now have a grey screen on booting and it is trying to reboot itself.It started with lines then dots. I managed to boot OK once after this but now just a grey screen. I believe I have managed to start diagnostics pressing Fn while starting as I heard beeps which kept repeating until I pressed Y, yes, I heard the sounds, I guess. But I can only see a grey screen so do not know the results of the tests. There are no beeps or diagnostic lights staying on or flashing to tell me anything. I had this problem before but cannot remember what I did if anything to remedy it.

I would like to know if this is an display panel issue or the display cable issue?
My son's laptop has decided to be a jerk and not boot any longer.
It turns on then goes to a gray blue screen. I can get into set up the usual way and have tried other buttons but usually get a warning in regards to the hard drive when we try boot mode.
The laptops key board basically doesn't work either so I use an external one
I am thinking Hard Drive is fried....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an hp compaq nx6330 (ex856av) using windows xp. last may, the screen turned black (i was told i need to replace the lcd), so i decided to use a generic external monitor. a couple of months ago, i had to have it repaired and the repair guy said he'll upgrade the OS to windows 7. things were working fine for about a month then the screen (external monitor, since the laptop screen is dead) starting having vertical gey lines (the entire screen). i played with the resolution and i was able to get rid ofthe lines a couple of times. are the lines due to using windows7? can this particular model handle any OS besides the one (windows xp) it came with?

It seems to turn on (little green light comes on) when I access the Windows 8 camera app or any other app (like skype), but I do not see anything out of the camera except for a gray screen with a camera icon that has a bar through it. It looks like the camera needs to be activated somewhere but where to look. I have checked the driver and it seems to be fine (no yellow warning icon), I even unistalled and reinstalled the latest camera driver from the support website but that does not change anything.

this is my first time posting, and i have a question.
i've heard that later on there will be different color lids for the sxps 13 and 16.
i understand that this is both a studio and an xps, so it makes me wonder if i can have cool designs on the top. i don't know how thats gonna fly with the leather, because black is the only color that i can think of that would go with it.
so heres my question: do you think that dell will release custom, or at least different colors for the sxps? possibly midnight blue, the RED one, white, brown, green. anything. and if you do, when do you think they will release the new options?
