Looking on Dell outlet and noticed that color scheme. I was wondering how it looks since I was planning on a Jet Black, but the Graphite Grey sounds nice too
View 9 RepliesI've wondered about this while I was shopping for my Studio 15 and now I'm helping another NBR user also find one via Dell Outlet.
Graphite Gray (apparently no longer available on new models) was offered with Black, Red, Blue or Pink trim. What areas of the notebook are in the "trim" color? Also, can anyone describe the shade of blue used on the Graphite Gray with Blue Trim?
just got my Studio's palm rest replaced today since the touchpad freaked out after I accidentally spilled water on it, thank God for complete warranty.
However, the replacement palm rest seems to have the pattern on which came with my old Studio, the graphite pattern. Here are some before and after pics, and some pics showing what happens when the media panel does the all buttons stay lit glitch.
This an example of the later palm rests. However, I had this on my Studio before the palm rest change because I received a replacement which had the newer palm rest. So, this is the before picture .....
Xps m1530 with windows vista . When I could boot the laptop after a while it then shut off. I did run diagnostics, all passed. I run virus scan - all ok. i updated all drivers and now can not get pass the black screen.

Microsoft Word, McAfee, Excel), the screen fades to black, stays black for 2-3 seconds, then pops back up. It has happened at a few other times too, but I don't recall the specific circumstances. The laptop is 2 1/2 years old, unfortunately out of warranty ....

I downloaded HwInfo32 and it says my firmware version is "Drive Revision: VBM24D1Q"
And then below it shows "TRIM Command: Supported (Indeterminate Read After TRIM)"
Does this mean mine already has the trim firmware?
So I was still confused about whether or not the SXPS Samsung SSDs would be able to accept the future firmware update (and thus be able to support TRIM). I contacted Dell's tech support via email and was told that the drives will support TRIM (though on 2 occasions he called it TRIP). I am not inspired by his lack of knowledge regarding the proper term and dont think that he is right. If I save the email would this help my case of getting a SSD from Dell in the future that does actually support TRIM?

System stats:
2GB RAM
XPS 512MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX
XPS M1710 Duo Processor T2600 (2.16 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB)
However, since yesterday, when I press the power on button I just get a strange grey screen. I can't get past this. I left it overnight and in the morning I get the same thing. It is a mainly grey/white screen and if I leave it some more bits of grey appear on it in a strange way. I'm not really sure what to do. I've never openened my laptop up to remove dust but have blown through the fans a few times so I imagine that it is very dusty inside.
I have continuously through about my Vaio P because it has a 64gb SSD. Does the P have garbage cleanup "TRIM" for its SSD?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an XPS13 i7, installed the BIOS (that went fine) and then installed the drivers. After installing the "WiFi Display" driver, the computer will not restart. Here is what happens:
I select the restart option
it shuts down
it powers up (the Dell logo appears)
it then goes to a grey screen.
After approximately 10 seconds (or after I press enter) a progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the words "F12 Options." The progress bar is persistently at 99% or thereabouts the computer is completely frozen and nothing happens
If I then press the power button, it powers off. When I press the power button again, it starts perfectly normally.
The main concern for me is that this is the second XPS13 from Dell in 1 week!!! The first one had an almost identical problems after the driver installs but it couldn't even be powered back into Windows. No matter what you tried, it simply went to the screen with the progress bar and froze.
What's the current status? Does or doesn't it support TRIM and if then with which firmware?

My Dell Inspiron 3520 screen goes grey with horizontal lines during use. It reminds me of an old TV except the lines do not scroll. It started after I upgraded from 8 to 8.1.

My laptop is not booting and the screen is two tones of grey when I try to boot.
I was working on it and left it alone for an hour and when I came back the screen was grey and have not since been able to get it to shut down or start up.
I got a Dell Latitude E4200 with a Samsung SSD PB22-JS3 TM 64GB drive. Does anyone know if its firmware can be upgraded to support TRIM in Windows 7? Current
firmware version is VBM19D1Q. Seems like the version that support TRIM is VBM19C1Q. Doesnt that seem like a downgrade? I've had my notebook since October 2009 so I dont think it has TRIM support from the factory.

I have a TT190 with a factory-installed SSD. As many of you are probably aware, Windows 7 support for TRIM greatly improves the performance of an SSD that is used over time. But the drive must support it.
Recently Intel, Samsung, Corsair and some other manufacturers have released new firmware for their SSDs that supports TRIM.
My TT190 contains a Samsung MMCQE28GFMUP-MVA SSD drive. I suspect that Sony uses that same drive (or drives from the same series) in other Vaio models.
I wanted to understand if there is any TRIM firmware already released or planned for this drive, so I sent an email to the relevant support group in Samsung. After two weeks I received the following reply:

At the end of this month or, if delayed, next month, we will open a web site on which all FW updates (including the VBM19C1Q, with ATA-TRIM) and tools will be available for easy update all devices PM800.
Unfortunately, the SSD model MMCQE28GFMUP-MVA is not supported in this FW update (it is not PM800 series) and there will be no support for TRIM in the future.
We do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience using our products

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy laptop Acer 5920G doesnt start up anymore. It happend when one day the screen froze and then when i restarted it , it just came up with a grey screen .
Now when i press the power button , the fans starts up and everything and the screen just comes grey sometimes with stripes on it . There is no actual sound eg. vista sound or anything but theres is sound coming from the fans. Once in a while it does boot up and 2 mins later the screen just completely freezes and then when restarted the grey screen thing just happens again.
So my wife just got a brand new macbook about a week ago, but accidentally dropped it about a foot or two this morning. The "case" which we got from macmall did practically nothing, and I think one corner of the macbook took the brunt of it.
Now, the macbook won't get past the grey startup screen. I'll see the mac symbol, and then a "no entry" (circle with a diagonal line through it) sign, and then the system will just hang.
I've used the Mac OS X install dvd to use Disk Utility to try to repair the hard drive, but Disk Utility didn't find any problems. Everything was green and good to go.
I'm running the Hardware Test now, but I was wondering if anyone here would have any ideas about what to do next, or what is causing this problem?
Update 1: The hardware test said everything was fine, too.
Update 2: It can boot in safe mode! Everything looks good from the safe boot, I've got access to all the files and everything..........................

I want to know if the design is also inside the laptop like the the chains near the palm rest, im hoping not! or is that design only on older studio 15's like 1555 or 1557 .....
When I switch on my laptop, I can hear the noise as if it is running however, cannot see anything. I know it isn't the screen and have a feeling it is the motherboard /graphics card (I use a lot of 3D/graphics software). I want it to last me at least another 6-8 months before purchasing a new laptop.

I’ve got a Del Studio 1753 laptop and I use it with a separate LG flatron w2486L screen. The cable recently came out of the VGA port and when I plugged it back in there is now a black strip at each side of the screen and the image doesn’t go across the full width any more. In display settings I’ve got the monitor set at the highest resolution possible, 1440x900, but this makes no difference (I’m on Windows 7).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was using my Studio 1537 when it suddenly shut down. I rebooted and the console media lights lit up and it sounded like it was restarting as normal but the screen remained black. I have tried a number of internet: restarting holding F12, restarting holding Fn+F8, removing battery and AC power & holding power key for 30 seconds - 1 minute and then restarting and also holding D while restarting to run screen diagnostics. I can see the coloured screens flash through but none of these ideas have restarted the monitor it remains black.
