I purchased my Dell Inspiron 1545 2 months back.
And today I found out that, the motherboard has got some problem. The engineer replaced the motherboard
and told me me that I am not having earthing in my house and I need to get it done.
He said that because of no earthing the parts of laptop will get damaged or reduce the lifetime (e.g. battery, hard-disk, motherboard). So my question are
does earthing required ?
If no earthing is there, will parts get damaged or lifetime will be reduced ?
(btw I haven't encountered electric shock with my laptop)
I was formatting dell inspiron N5050, first we created recovery disks, I tried to do a system recovery first off the partition, after which I was recieveing a BSOD, so I used the recovery disk we created to do the system recovery again this time there was no BSOD however after it said it was setting up windows for first use, it brought me to a log in screen with no user name, asking for a user name and password. It will not accept any of my friends old user names and passwords, I am unable to log into the administrator, and I am unable to log into safe mode cause it needs to set up windows 7 for the first use. How can we log into windows?
My friend's hard drive crashed. He took it into apple and they told him he needed to replace it with a new hard drive. Does he need to buy a new installation disk once we install the new hard drive?
I'm planning on buying a new laptop soon and have been going through some of the threads regarding the HDMI port and I am a bit confused.
I would like to be able to take a 1080p/5.1 BD or .mkv on my laptop and connect it to my AV receiver via HDMI which then outputs 1080p/5.1 to my HDTV/speakers. I have no idea what minimum video card/sound card/processor is required for this.
I am trying to replace my laptop fan in a Sony Vaio VGN-S270. I removed all the necessary screws and plugs to get to the fan, but there are three screws connecting the fan which I'm not sure how to remove. Two of them are located on the lower left of the fan and are gold in color. They appear to be spring-loaded and have a threaded center to the screw. This seems to be an extension of the fan itself and covers one of the chips.
The other screw is very small and is located up and to the left of the actual fan portion. This screw looks to have a circular head to it, but its so small I can't really tell what type of tool to use for it.
I just formatted my old computer and I have some problems with my Internet connexion. According to the people of the technic support, I need basic drivers for the my HP Pavilion g7-1173ca for the following devices, currently being Yellow Highlighted by the Device Manager:
So I am trying to play Dragon Age Inquisition on my newly aquired Acer VN7-571g. It's equipped with a gtx 850m. When I'm trying to start the game I get this error message "Detected NVIDIA driver is 333.17. The required driver version is 340.52 or later. Please update your drivers at geforce.com/drivers before playing the game" Now the problem is that the driver from acer is version 333.17. If I try to install a newer driver directly from geforce it won't recognize the dedicated GPU and will run on the integrated intel HD graphics in stead.
I have a Vaio Z36GD (Asian version of the Z69). I recently cleaned the hard drive and reinstalled the OS from the recovery CD's I created when I originally purchased the machine.
I have run all the updates for Windows, BIOS, etc. Running VISTA Business 64 bit SP2.
For the most part, the machine is performing well.
However, the Vaio Smart Network utility seems to slow down the start-up process (it is always the last thing to become available...with a pause and the cursor clocking for about 10 seconds before it is complete). I don't have much else running at start-up (NIS 2010 and other standard utilities...pointer, etc.).
Anyway, can I remove or disable the Vaio Smart Network utility and still effective use and manage Wifi, Bluetooth, and LAN connections? Has anyone else noticed this performance issue and addressed it?

I have installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop HP pavilion G6 model 2241sa. Almost all drivers were installed automatically. Additionally I downloaded from HP support site all drivers for similar model (2241nr).
I installed everything one be one. All works BUT ONE device is not recognised... Here are some details of it:
It says Unknown device (in Other devices group) with yellow exclamation mark. Location - on PCI Express Root Complex. bios device name - _SB. PCI0.ACEL, hardware ID - ACPI VEN_HPQ& DEV_0004. That's all i have about this device.
How to establish which driver I need and for which device?
I downgraded from win 8 to win 7 with a clean install and although I have the sound workling I cant find the correct driver in other forum posts to get beats audio installed. Link to the correct download :
Also I would like to get the on screen volume indicator back.
I own a Pavilion g6 2338ee. Product number: D5A02EA#ABV. OS: WINDOWS 8. PROCESSOR :Intel CORE i5
I can't find the required Bluetooth software. Recently it stopped working. So i tried downloading the driver from the official website. But it doesn't recognize my model number and the drivers don't support my system.
Is it normal that dell.ca would have fewer choices of screens than dell.com? I'm looking at the studio 15, and dell.com lists Hi Resolution/Bright,
glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option.
I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and when I plugged in my monitor and keyboard into the docking station, they were not recognized. But I can plug them into the laptop while docked and they are recognized.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 purchased about 2 and a half years ago. I was just deleting some random programs which I don't ever use, and accidentally clicked on uninstall Dell Data Safe Local Back up.
How to reinstall it? I tried to do so by clicking this link [URL] .... but it just came up with an error message.
my laptop vostro 3460 won't boot any more. When I turn it on it loads the Dell logo (I suppose it passes the POST) but then it just shows a black page. It could be anything, but I guess that it may have something to do with Windows 8 and the UEFI system. I also would be quite happy to install linux mint and get rid of Windows, but I don't know how to change the boot priority order.
So my questions are:
1 is it a hardware issue ? if not, can I solve my problem easily ?
2 how can I change the boot priority order, to install mint ?
when i first got my dell inspiron and it was all good. when i set the monitor to shut off after 1 minute of being idle, it did and would not turn on unless someone moved the mouse of pressed a button. however, after i reformatted, the computer monitor would shut off after 1 min but soon afterwards it turns on again by itself, then it goes off again, then it remains on permanently. i recently formatted my laptop again and this problem persists. anyone knows whats sup? im using xp ftw... and my configurations are the same as it was before the reformats so idk whats wrong.
Why can"t I get the Dell Webcam Central to load on my inspiron 1545? I have downloaded it twice from the support site for my service tag and each time i attempt t install it and it shows a coorupt or incomplete download
i consider buying assassin's creed for pc to play it on my dell laptop (see sig). any idea, how it will run? anyone with an i9400/e1705/oc'ed 7900gs, who already played it? is it worth it or do i have to turn down the settings too much?
just for info: i can play gears of war, bioshock, ut3, cod4, et:qw, sega rally, orange box, stalker, etc. at max settings at 1280x800 res. everything runs smoothly like that. have to turn down aa or shadow qual. slightly down sometimes, though.
