I have a Dell Studio 1735 and the battery won't charge and getting and error messge "Please connect a Dell 90W AC adapter or higher for best system operation". I have purchase a new Dell battery and Dell AC adapter and still have the same problem.
View 1 RepliesThe battery on my laptop (Dell Studio 1735) was bad, it charges up fine, but only holds a charge for about 5min after being 100% charged. Dell doesn't offer a genuine battery for my laptop anymore so I purchased a third party one for my model. The new battery works and powers the laptop, but upon booting I get a message that tells me the battery is unrecognized and will not be allowed to charge, and within windows it says that battery is "Not Charging".
Things I've tried:
Unplug battery and adapter, hold power down for 5 sec, plug everything back in. Allow battery to drain, then when booting and the message says the battery is low and should be charged Press F1 to Continue. Flash BIOS Downgraded BIOS to A04. Downgraded BIOS to A03 Searched for updates to the battery driver in Device Manager Removed battery driver and allowed to reinstall Booted up with genuine battery, then swapped out to the new battery once within Windows.
I've been using a Dell inspiron 1545 from about 3 years now and exactly after 2 years of my buy, the battery failed and it started showing me to replace the battery and always notified me about contacting dell for a new battery.
I didn't take this of much concern so i just ignored the message and kept on using my battery with my adapter plugged in. After 4-5 months of such usage, My battery completely failed and doesn't even offer me even a minute of backup, when i remove the power socket. Then i realized the importance of a new battery and then bought a new battery from Dell.
Its the same battery with the same specs and also the same family type. After i removed my defected battery, I replaced my new bought Dell battery and realized that my battery is working fine. its charging well but at some time, it says "Plugged in, But not charging" Which is rare for any new battery, which is bought brand new.
This is how it looks now after i remove the AC adapter plug and when i depend on the battery backup. it is providing me a backup, but I see a yellow exclamatory mark beside it. Which I think should not be present. it also says "Low battery" when there's already 99% of battery left!
I've also followed some online steps
1) updated by BIOS to the latest
2) Followed some other steps like uninstalling the battery ACI in the device manager and etc...
I'm using a PA-12 family adapter, which is also a replaced one.
The PA - 3E AC adapter appears to have failed.
Can I use a PA -10 AC adapter to run the studio 1558?
When i boot the computer to windows, a message pops up saying that i have to not charge the battery up to more than 70%.
It's says that i have to set up something in power consumption options but when i went there i didn't see something relevant to the battery lifespan(in french). Kow to set this up ? between i'm always on the sector (AC).
Every time I run the Client System Update tool and check for updates I get the error message "Check for updates failed"
I have a Dell Latitude E6430 running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit and I am connected to the internet...
I have an xps12 that doesn't recognise its adaptor, runs fine on AC but batter is now totally dead. I tried a different Dell 45W adaptor (borrowed) and it charged the battery, I then bought a cheaper 3rd part adaptor - which also worked for a week or so.
Now am back to unrecognised adaptor, no charging. BIOS is version AO8 but even if there is an update I can't install since my battery is on zero. Battery utility (Fn F3) indicates my battery is healthy and performing normally, but charging is disabled and I don't see any obvious way to enable it.
my d630 refuses to charge with a 90w power brick, it stays on, but the battery doesn't charge and i get the power warning screen after the bios screen.
does this need a 65W adapter or is there something wrong with my 90W one?
I have a had Dell XPS 15z for a around a year and a half and it very suddenly stopped charging whilst plugged in. I didn't notice until the low battery warning came on that the computer had stopped recognizing the battery or the charger. I rebooted and went on BIOS, I don't know much, but I noted that it didn't see an adapter plugged in and it said that the battery is functioning normally. I've plugged the adapter into other laptops and it worked so it isn't the adapter.

No green LED lit on laptop front. Unit will not boot with AC adapter attached and battery removed.
Checked AC adapter with multimeter and it appears working OK, get 19.5 volts dc output.
I have had this laptop for 2 years and after the first year I had to replace both battery and adapter.
The first generic adapter I got was fine until the cable split (my fault as I was wrapping the cord around the brick).
I got the second generic from the same place I got the first.
I bought the new one last month and since then I have sporadically received a message that the adapter wasn't OEM and that it wouldn't charge the battery.
It would get back to charging after a reboot or stand by.
Now I have tried everything but it won't get back to charging the battery.
I did a search here and found others with the same problem (different dell laptops) solving the issue by flashing the bios.
Can anybody point me to the correct file I should download for my laptop as well as explain what should be done to flash the bios
I have a dell inspiron m5030, which is out of warranty, and unfortunately it wont charge the battery, or boot from the ac adapter and since the battery is dead I can no longer turn on the laptop. I already sent this laptop back to dell 2 prior times when my warrenty was still active due to the 7 beeps and I think that the mother board is going bad for the 3rd time.

I have with my Lenovo B5400 is related to the battery. For about two months, on start up I get a loud beep and a message that says "The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge. Please replace the battery with the correct Lenovo battery for this system." It's impossible for the battery not to be genuine because I purchased it together with the laptop, so it's all original and stuff. View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I received my brand-new E540 from Amazon. Upon inserting the battery and starting the laptop for the very first time, I was greeted by the following error message:
The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge.
Please replace the battery with the correct Lenovo battery for this system.
Press the ESC key to continue.
The message has only appeared once and hasn't been shown on subsequent reboots.
I proceeded to install Windows 7 which worked fine. Under Windows the battery symbol in the taskbar would say "66%. Plugged in. Not charging". I then shutdown the system and re-inserted the battery. Since then the battery appears to be charging normally and when I inspect the battery symbol in Windows it says something like "89% charged. Plugged in. Charging."
Seeing how this is a brand-new laptop, do you think the battery is broken and I should return the laptop, or should I keep it since it seems to be working normally now.
Okay, so all was working fine until today, my webcam has stopped working, When i boot Dell Webcam Central i get a message at the bottom stating "No supported webcam connected".
Video chats on MSN and facebook do not work, it's like the webcam no longer exists.
I think it was caused by some other webcam software, which i've since uninstalled.
I've tried reinstalling the "Quanta H.264 Integrate Webcam Rev: A00" driver from the resource disk - it did not work.
I've tried to use system restore to restore to a time i KNOW the webcam was working, it did not work.
I was trying to find the executable to reinstall Webcam Central to see if that had any effect, Went to the "Download Factory Installed Software (My Dell Downloads)" section of the website, and i get this message:

I tried troubleshooting my uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo Power Manager. I also updated the BIOS. Neither of those gave me any luck. I tried getting rid of the microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery, but that keeps coming back.

View 15 Replies View RelatedIt has the 8GB SSD drive, 3 cell battery, 1GB of RAM, runs Windows XP, and has the standard 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor. I was going to purchase a full fledged notebook but I would rather spend $200 on a netbook now and then purchase a $1000+ desktop. I had a 17" notebook but it would only get about 1.4 hours on a single charge (and that was with the brightness turned all the way down). That notebook died and I am currently using a tablet PC but it can only get about 2 hours of operation on a single charge.
So how long does the 3 cell Aspire One last on a single charge? I know that factors such as screen brightness and wi-fi drastically affect battery performance. I mainly want to surf the internet via wi-fi (on my campus) and the screen brightness will be adjusted down to 50% or lower. I would be perfectly content with 3 hours or more. I read on some websites that the 6 cell versions can go for 6 hours or more. One reviewer said that his unit was able to go for 9 hours but I think their screen brightness was turned all the way down and wi-fi was turned off.
I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 few weeks old. Originaly was Win8, but I update it to Win8.1.
After I registered laptop, next step was to partition my C: partition on two parts, partition C (OS), and D (Data). After that I successfully installed all programs I need. And after few days problems started with few BSoD. There are few problems and I will explain all of them.
My Dell checkup "Blue screen troubleshooter" reporting every few days one or more BSoD with explanation: "The unknown driver (C:Windows/system32/drivers/atikmdag.sys) appears to have caused a system crash. Complete the tasks below to prevent unexpected shutdowns in the future."
On same My Dell checkup I try to run "PC Checkup", and everything appear OK, no problems reported. Custom scan on only ATI video card (ATI Radeon HD8850), and result is "Passed".I also run build in DELL diagnostics (Boot menu) and there was no errors, and also Dell online diagnostics and everything was fine.
I try to install new driver from DELL website (AMD Radeon HD 8850M driver 13.151.0.0), but during installation, screen blinked few times and then went off. I thought that this is OK since video driver was installing. I left Laptop for one hour to "finish installation" but noting happened. I turned off laptop by pressing ON/OFF button for 5 sec, but after that laptop don't want to restart. Here I noticed other problem I will share with you in the moment. Fortunately, I installed Acronis True Image 2014 so I was able to restore a system. BTW, same driver version was already installed acording to "MSINFO32).
Now, my system is running, I can still see BSoD warning in My Dell Checkup, but actually I don't actually see this BSoD. Strange. If I right click on desktop and then click on "Graphics Property" or "Configure switchable graphics" I get this warning:
Second problem. During my laptop beforehand explained "BLACKOUT", I tried to use Windows Recovery. I tried "Refresh" and "Reinstall" and both times I got message:
"Could not find the recovery environment. Insert your Windows installation or recovery media, and restart your PC with the media".
If I try to use "Dell Backup and Recovery", I got message:
"Dell Backup and Recovery has not been able to detect the recovery Partition on this computer. It may be missing or corrupted. To recover your computer to the original factory state and restore the Recovery partition, please use your System Recovery Disc." etc...etc...
I don't have any of this discs coz OS was preinstaled. So, basically I can't use any facilities to recover my laptop because I don't have factory recovery media or recovery disc. Fortunately I'm using Acronis, but that's not a point. I want something to recover my system to original, factory state.
Actually, Windows Restore facilities are OK and I can restore to some point I created.
BTW, my hard drive is partitioned on 7 partitions. Originally there were 6 partitions with huge C: partition. I split this one on two.
And also, since this BSoD is likely caused by video driver, how can I safely update this driver. As explained before, after first try I had disaster. Can I try to install new driver for AMD Radeon HD 8850M from ATI site?
Does anyone know the part number to this or somewhere I could order online?......................
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a seconday (spare) power adapter at home, for my y50. The adapter is a 20 volt / 90 watt unit. My primary adapter (in work) is the original adapter that came with the Y50, a 20 volt / 120 watt unit. When using the laptop with the spare adapter (the 90 watt unit) I get a Lenovo Energy Manager message that pops up stating "Adapter has limited support" and "Performance will be affected if the power adapter cannot provide enough charge". Presumably the laptop would need more than 90 watts to drive it if the CPU and /or video were working hard? Do you see any issues using that adapter for day to day work, that is, not gaming? Also, can the messge be disabled?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my power cord or battery is garfunkled and it doesn't hold a charge. I use my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1501) with the cable plugged in all the time. I'm perfectly happy with this and there is absolutely no way I'm paying any more for any charging equipment (battery or otherwise) when I can get a faster laptop for cheaper than the cost of the charging equipment. So I'm not going to spend any more money and I'm perfectly happy with how the laptop works.
I don't need a solution but when the laptop boots it stops at this error message (in the BIOS or DOS or w/e before the OS loads) until it gets some user input okaying it to continue booting.
I want to disable the message to allow the computer to boot into the OS when it is turned on. I either want the message to time out or not to appear at all. I looked in the BIOS (which is the simplest BIOS I've ever seen and has practically no options outside of boot protocol) and didn't see any options related to error messages or to act in any way.
I have a Vostro 1088 and it also have battery symbol on it function key F3. However, when pressing this key, nothing happens. I have installed all drivers and every devices are recognized in Device Manager.
I wonder Vostro 1088 does have the functionality to disable charge when plugging!

I'm having no luck saving the original BIOS from the GPU so I can use RBE to overclock.
I'd be up for a copy of a successfully oc'd BIOS file also, 600mhz core.
Tried Vista and XP, atiflash, winflash, gpu-z, none of them can save the BIOS for some reason...
