I've got my new laptop coming from either Lenovo (a ThinkPad) or Dell (a Latitude). But Lenovo is making it very easy these days. It seems they have a new coupon code on their website every day.
Using their codes I can get a better-equipped 15-inch notebook from Lenovo than I can from Dell. What I like about the Lenovo codes is you can use them on any purchase.
Am I missing something? Where are the Dell deals? I've clicked on a couple of deal links on this site but I'm taken to regular Dell 'specials' landing pages which offer the same price as their non-deal pages.
I will be buying a new laptop in Sep. and I would like to know if there is a list of schools and there codes for the student discount...
I am going to Davenport University and I have looked at the Dell University website and do not see it listed. I was told to call 1-800-695-8133 by the chat help because "not all schools are listed". When I called, the person I talked to did not understand what I wanted to know and got frustrated with me and placed me on eternal hold... So after sitting here like an idiot for a half hour waiting for her to get back I decided to call Davenport ... They have no idea what the code is.
So here I am ... Maybe there is someone out there going to Davenport University in Michigan and knows the code or maybe there is a list of the codes somewhere...
Okay so I'm trying to buy the Dell Latitude E6400 for college and I'm trying to use the 28% discount even though through my college I get a 7%. I rather get a 28% instead of 7%.
I'm about to order a Studio 15. It looks like the EPP exclusive one is easily the best deal, but I'm waiting to see if a 10% coupon comes out. I've seen older post where people mention usiing them. So I've got two questions:
I know that Dell is known for always/usually having a lot of great coupon codes, but 25% does seem outstanding.
So for those of you who keep a closer eye on Dell than I do - is this degree of discount normal or unusual for Dell? In fact, is there any time of year that tends to be the "best" to get a Dell?
I'm probably not going to take advantage of this discount, but I'm still curious for future purposes. I'm trying to hold out on getting a new machine as long as possible - ideally, until Windows 7 comes preinstalled and perhaps until the new Intel chips/platforms come out...
I've stayed away from McAfee and Norton for years, so I don't even know what an annual subscription to their virus definitions even costs anymore, BUT Dell's pushing a 1-year subscription McAfee subscription for $79, and 3-years for $99. Comparing the two makes the 3-year subscription look like a pretty good deal. Is it? Cnet seemed to like this latest release, but I don't know how much stock to put in that.
Is $99 for 3 years a good deal, and is McAfee Security Center even any good? Could I get a comparable deal buying/upgrading the subscription after purchasing the computer, or is getting it pre-installed on the Dell pretty much the only way to get it at that price?
In 2 days ive had my 1557 to just shut down 4 different times.Everything just goes boom off.It could be the DEMO game im playing but upon restart sometimes I get a beep code.
I just hit the power button and it shuts down then I hit it again and it POST and boots like normal
I want to use the Alt key to insert codes into text. Â But, when I hit the Alt key, it highlights a letter or number on menu commands for shortcuts in whatever program I am using. Â How do I turn that feature off in my laptop Inspiron 13 7000 series laptop?
I been reading threads about dell beep codes problem. Mine comes up after days of expired waranty. Very dissapointed with it because I now that my 1 year waranty expired I can not contact Dell support anymore.
It's been unclear if the what's the problem cause but one thing is for sure. I am very dissapointed in Dell, looks like their product has only 1 year life span.
I am unable to find any diagnostic codes (lights or beeps) for this model, the only one pdf manual doesn't have any pre boot diagnostics, only when laptop already booted into Windows environment...

My wife's T400 (2767-CP9) died recently. The beep codes indicate a dead motherboard. Her HD is fine and in fact I was able to pull off data after putting the HD in another laptop and booting with a live Linux CD. So...the data is recovered and safe with nothing lost. Â Question is: I have found a few used T400's and am about to purchase one very close to hers and was curious if I would be able to just put her HD in the machine and just go from there. Â The machine in question is also a T400, but the exact model number is 2767-H7U. Would the difference between a 2767-CP9 and 2767-H7U matter? Â here are the stats for both: URL...
The only difference besides batteries seems to be the processor.If windows balks at this, can I just do a "product recovery" in the new machine with the old HD? The only reason this is an issue is.....her laptop was a refurb unit purchased from IBM and came with win7 as OS. The replacement machine in question has windows vista installed.
i have a HP 2000 nopebook PC and its giving me a black screen with no error codes or beeps. I can hear the startup sounds and see the screen brighten up and then gets dim. When I hook it up to an external moniter it comes up. I have tested the memory, the inverter, I tried draining the battery and I even tried updating the graphics card and still nothing.
The T440s has no embedded number pad and no Num Lock key. Â I post to a weather blog and the degree symbol (Num Lock > Alt+248) is almost as common as the letter A. Â Â 1. Â How do I insert ASCII characters, such as the degree symbol, using the T440s keyboard? Â From reading specs and reviews of third party USB number pads, it appears that the combination of Num Lock, Alt and the number pad does not work to insert ASCII characters. Â 2. Â Will the Lenovo 33L3225 Thinkpad Numeric Keypad allow me to insert ASCII character codes as if it were part of a full keyboard? Â I find the omission of this function on the T440s puzzling.
I recently received the 2000-0142 error when running the diagnostics on my 7720 laptop. I found this to be a hard drive error and purchased another hard drive. After installing the new hard drive I received the 2000-0332 error.Â

Is it normal that dell.ca would have fewer choices of screens than dell.com? I'm looking at the studio 15, and dell.com lists Hi Resolution/Bright,
glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option.
I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and when I plugged in my monitor and keyboard into the docking station, they were not recognized. But I can plug them into the laptop while docked and they are recognized.Â
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 purchased about 2 and a half years ago. I was just deleting some random programs which I don't ever use, and accidentally clicked on uninstall Dell Data Safe Local Back up.Â

my laptop vostro 3460 won't boot any more. When I turn it on it loads the Dell logo (I suppose it passes the POST) but then it just shows a black page. It could be anything, but I guess that it may have something to do with Windows 8 and the UEFI system. I also would be quite happy to install linux mint and get rid of Windows, but I don't know how to change the boot priority order.
So my questions are:
1 is it a hardware issue ? if not, can I solve my problem easily ?

when i first got my dell inspiron and it was all good. when i set the monitor to shut off after 1 minute of being idle, it did and would not turn on unless someone moved the mouse of pressed a button. however, after i reformatted, the computer monitor would shut off after 1 min but soon afterwards it turns on again by itself, then it goes off again, then it remains on permanently. i recently formatted my laptop again and this problem persists. anyone knows whats sup? im using xp ftw... and my configurations are the same as it was before the reformats so idk whats wrong.
Why can"t I get the Dell Webcam Central to load on my inspiron 1545? I have downloaded it twice from the support site for my service tag and each time i attempt t install it and it shows a coorupt or incomplete download
